i feel you about the goal, like i’ve always done 100 books and last year i /worked/ to get that goal and i hated it soooo this year i said 52 that way i can focus on actually having fun reading and not obsessing over my goal
slighly feeling called out about reading 200 books a year haha, but yeah, that is once again my goal for this year. in my defense however, I have to read a lot of books for uni and I also read pretty fast. I don't go out of my way to reach my goal, it just happens ya know? something else I want to do this year is mostly read books that I either already own (I know I need to read the name of the wind) or borrow them from the library or friends or books I have on my e-reader, basically not spend that much on books. I'm quickly running out of space and I only want books on my shelves that I absolutely love or are from an auto buy author
@charlie_bharlie6795 not you taking the words out of my mouth 💀💀but again not judging the quantity!! same thing you said it just kinda happens and that's a better way to view it vs it being a "goal"
We say Yes to [more] book tags🙌🏻 Thank you for each and every video! One can't find two more opposite readers than you and I (not in a bad way, just a fact), but I love your love for books, reading, you're such a spark and talent❇️ Booktube for me now is all about readers and all the joy reading brings. And on your channel, I find it all (even Twilight, thanks to Katie😂).
I’m 700 pages into Words of Radiance and having a good time. I will be ordering the US floppy trade size paperback of Oathbringer before the end of the week (I order them from Blackwells in the UK). Turns out that these editions are what finally has me reading this series. I had the mass market paperbacks and they just sat on my shelf, and being in Australia I didn’t want to read the editions published here because they split each book into two, which I just found annoying. The story however is incredibly engaging and Stormlight Archives is the first Brandon Sanderson I’ve read. I like his writing style but I’m sure that is not surprising to you!
YES SAME! when i read Way of Kings I read the UK paper backs it wasn't as satisfying as reading Words of Radiance in floppy form haha. it's more satisfying to read it all in one book!
@ quick question - is Rhythm of War available in the US floppy trade paperback size? Can’t find it on either Barnes and Noble or Blackwells websites - just hardcover…
I absolutely adore Project Hail Mary and I hope you love it too! The audiobook is indeed great, but don't get too caught up on the "wakes up surrounded by bodies" bit of the plot - it's just that his two teammates basically die in their sleep and when he wakes up he's confronted by the sight of their bodies.
How many books are you planning to read? I usually say a 100 but I always include graphic novels/ manga in that list because I enjoy reading them so much compared to books some months. Usually I read roughly 50 to 60 novels. Book I am likely to re-read this year I am likely to re-read at least the first book of ACOTAR series since my first read were borrowed from my friend and want to read my own copy and my second re-read is probably going to be The Seven Year Slip. I am also always tempted to re-read the Twilight series and the Harry Potter series. Priority on my TBR? My priority tbr is reading my five star predictions first then the rest on my 25 in 2025 list. Authors I want to read more of in 2025? India Holton, Brandon Sanderson, and Cassandra Clare (Reading Chain of Gold at the moment and sooo good.) Something new I want to read? I think the only new things I want to read is reading more stories about mythical creatures, paranormal creatures because my comfort reads are fantasy and romantasy. I do try to read romance but I find them to be to predictable. A popular book I want to read this year? Continue the Shadowhunter series, Warbreaker, and Eragon. My sister has been wanting me to read or at least start the Eragon series forever. Series I want to read this year? Way to many to be honest 😂 Ones I would like to get to is the Shadowhunter series. I am hoping to read at least two books at least this year from that world. Attempt to finish The Mistborn series just to see if it is worth the hype and to see if epic fantasy is something I can get into. Auto buy authors? My auto buy authors I think are only three. Cassandra Clare, Rebecca Yarros Fourth Wing series, and Ashley Poston. Book to show/movie adaptation I'm excited about? The only ones I am excited about are manga series. I am excited to see Witch Hat Atelier in anime format, Demon Slayer, and Spy X Family. Sequel I am anticipating this year? The only one I was anticipating this year was Onyx Storm and I am currently reading it. Bookish things I am leaving in 2024? I need to remember not to read every hyped book coming out considering I have a backlist of already hyped books. I also need to remember with posting videos on RUclips that it may not be consistent and it's fine considering it is important to put family and yourself first. Booktubers that inspire me? Would be Katie is Reading, Cassandra Lynn Reads, Gavin Reads It All, Jodie, Lyndsay from She is booked and busy, and so many more. Anyone to start a booktube channel? Have fun and think of ideas before recording
Also, you should make a list for yourself with video ideas for when you have reading slumps. Fun videos, like this one, that you can film when you don't feel like reading. Maybe a video about all you maps! I love maps too. Put that on your list.
Love this style of chatty video.. OMG I have the same problem with Eragon! I can't get past book one for some odd reason. I have finally, and yes I know, I'm very late to the party..started the ACOTAR series.
I read like 50 some books last year but my goal was like 85 books so I technically failed it but in my view it’s not the number that matters… this year I put the number way lower like 30 I think! I want to low ball it so I don’t have to really worry about it and I can focus on the quality of books I’m reading!
I'm currently just finishing Project Hail Mary and I loooove it! It's not exactly what I expected (though I'm not even sure what that was tbh LOL), but I think it's one of my fav sci-fi reads. I hope you love it as well! ❤
Heavenly Tyrant is probably my MOST anticipated book of this year, and it's resting on my bookshelf. I haven't read it yet because I'm trying to prepare myself for the emotional trauma I'm pretty sure we're going to be put through, especially since I know it's got another book coming. For a book-to-show/movie adaptation, I'm VERY CAUTIOUSLY looking forward to Apple TV's adaptation of the Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells. I love the books SO much (and I usually don't read sci-fi), but I'm also terrified that the show is going to ruin the plot and the characters. Because we all know visual media loves adding in love stories, and I can just see how a writer/director/producer/whoever could chop and twist the plot of the books to include an unnecessary one.
@astoldbykat the way I was CONVINCED this was a duology 😫 but I know they won't hold back at all. Cautiously looking forward to adaptations is the only safe way 💀💀
The Eragon books are actuall my favorite. I got into fantasy because of them. I borrowed the books from the library at least 3 times because I only own the last one. In case you or someone else is interestet in a buddy read/reread I would be excited to join :)

Maas books, she is a great author, but her books are just not for me. And buying more books than I can read 😅 I want to be more mindful about my purchases and make a serious dent in my tbr 13. How did my reading taste evolve? I discovered I don’t like romcoms so I just stay away from that. I like a good romance novel once in a while, but my favorite genres are fantasy, mystery and historical fiction. And tbh books from Dutch authors are rarely 5-stars for me, but I like to keep reading books from my own country so I still read them quite regularly. 14.
