Per your request, here are the Ear Pads that I bought. I bought 3 pair of these and also a pair of the black vinyl type. The only notable difference is that the Pads aren't Labled L or R like the originals. Of course the left side is the side with the cord.
This is the video that had to be made! You're right. These headphones are still amazing when it comes to the sound, but I had to purchase a second pair due to it being a better deal than grabbing a replacement cord and the pads separately.
Man, sorry to hear that! At the replacement parts prices though I’d say that makes the most sense. Thanks for taking the time to check out the video and share your experience!
Dude, I just watched part 1 because I got recommended them by a rep at sweetwater and to hear you came from the sanheiser hd 280 pros was nice because I am doing the same thing. Everything you brought up were the same issues and things I have been thinking about.
Cool, coming from the 280 pros, I think you’ll enjoy the Focals! The good thing is that Sweetwater has been keeping the replacement ear pads in stock now so they are much easier to get than when I made this video: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ListenProEP1--focal-listen-pro-replacement-earpad
Did I ever mention here, there are cheap replacement ear cups from Asia. Yeah you'll wait a bit for them. but they will come. And they are beautiful replacements from the Bay. They even have a black vinyl type cups also, They are easy to remove, but an SOB to replace. Take time and patience, these cheap replacements fit perfectly in all respects exactly like the originals.
I don't think you did. Thanks, can you post a link to them here? I know RUclips is funny about that sometimes and will remove the post but give it a try if you don't mind.
Thanks for subscribing, I truly appreciate it and hope you’ll find more videos here that are useful! Since making this video, Sweetwater has genuine focal replacement ear pads for $42 👍🏻 www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ListenProEP1--focal-listen-pro-replacement-earpad
I found you by your 'Pro Tools Crashes/Won't open session (4 ways to fix it)' video. I see you have extensive ProTools experience. I am having trouble with my new system having crashes with small sessions my system should be able to handle with no problem. Mac Studio, Focus rite 4i4 (3rd Gen), older MI Komplete keyboard and Adam A7Vs. Just doing midi orchestration sessions with Vienna Symphonic and NO other plugins at all. . The "buffer size" crash keeps happening no matter the buffer size I use. I can't find a solution and am considering changing DAWs but WTF? What's with later versions of PT??? Any suggestions?
Hey, sorry to hear that! I'll do my best to help. First, I would check and see if the version of Pro Tools you're using is compatible with your Mac OS: avidtech.my.salesforce-sites.com/pkb/articles/en_US/Compatibility/Pro-Tools-Operating-System-Compatibility-Chart
why does everything sound shitty on them ? thin and lifeless... I mean I can't find one famous track that sounds good either... so It's not just me... everything sounds wierd especially kickdrums... the tracks sound soo hollow, anyone else feels this or is it only me ? if you feel they are good please give me a link to a track you know that sounds good in them, so I can refference :) cause I can't find any
I've had cheaper headphones than this last much longer and take much more abuse tracking in the studio. If Focal had replacements in stock, it would be easier to stomach but as of writing this, they still aren't available so you're kind of stuck with 3rd party solutions for the foreseeable future.
@SeawellStudios oh god 6 months and no stock? That's a bit tragic at this point. Still most people rather buy 3rd party stuff because first party pads are overpriced as hell and that is not limited to focal.
I have the Focal Spirit One headphones from back in the day & the earpads have deteriorated badly. Unfortunately, the pads are not meant to be easily replaced (you have to tear them off the headphones).
changing pads after 4 years isn't that bad, no need to sound so depressed about it! what would be depressing is if the new after-market pads changed the frequency response.
Not depressed LOL but when you baby a pair like I did, you expect them to not disintegrate.. Also, considering as of the timing of my reply here, the original pads are still back ordered and out of stock. It is what it is but I expect better from Focal. I've mixed on a pair of Twin 6BE for 15 years now and haven't had any issues so I know they can make a high quality, durable product.

Josh, your video quality is excellent! well done. I have to know, what camera do you use?
Thank you so much! I use a Canon EOS R camera with a Rokinon 14mm F2.8 lens.

when you did the change on them how was the sound? did it affect the sound in anyway?
I changed them about 3 months ago and I don't feel like the sound is any different.

Thank you so much! I hope you'll find more videos here that you enjoy.
Did you find any frequency response change with the replacements?
I didn't notice anything but I'm going to swap them out a few times and really pay attention to see if there is a difference. I'll report back!

4 years is ok for for earpads tbh. on cheaper headphones and with pleather in use they seem to rarely last 2 years.
