  • Original footage was 11 minutes long (a bit embarrassing ;3;) so here is the main part of ringing up Ireland's heaviest bell; 45-1-18 (2307kg) in C. It was hard work, but I enjoyed every minute of it.
    St Patrick's Cathedral, Remembrance Day (November 11), 2017
    -I've just realised I'm wearing the exact same clothes as last time. completely coincidental!

    well done! Biggest one I've rung up on my own is the gorgeous 42cwt 1901 Taylor tenor at Beverley Minster, which nearly killed me!

      @@lukemeanwell3260 Ringer Fred asked the same question below. Answer was yes it did end up with the clapper on the wrong side. Well spotted :) .
      The a suggested answer by Ringer Fred was to have a "strapper". Going to ask what that is ( I am not a very experienced ringer).

      @kyletheringer 4 года назад +1

      dublineamo a strapper is where another ringers with you so you both check and then the bell goes up right easier

    That is a decent bell to raise single handed.
    I would want copious amount of Liffy water that had miraculously turned into Guinness for doing that

    Can someone tell me why is it so dangerous when a bell is in the up position?? What can or could happen to someone who pulls the rope as a dare or is inexperienced??

    • @RingerPeter
      @RingerPeter 3 года назад +1

      When the bell is in the up position, as it comes down when being pulled by the rope the weight is 4 times greater and if you hold on to the rope as the rope goes back up you could be dragged up as well to the ceiling.

    • @RingerJamie
      @RingerJamie 4 года назад +1

      Double striking and when you set it and it bounces on the stay it rattles on the side of the bell.

    • @AshleyMonck
      @AshleyMonck 3 года назад +1

      You can also tell that it single strikes on the back stroke rather than the handstroke like it’s supposed to before the clapper hits both sides of the bell
