Hey love the bambo backing wonderful vid, no pacific yew yet from Vancouver Canada...natives here Calgary say they used choke cherry and sometimes Aspen I would buy a beer, can' afford one myself 🥲🤘keep going for as long as you can really appreciated
Interesting. Found the split-screen different. Still learning how to make a bow; lots I don’t understand. Thus lots I this vid I don’t understand why or what. Not being negative just saying. ….. be well to you and yours
Are there benefits to laminations over a selfbow, does having more laminations improve the bows cast/efficiency being able to add different properties of different woods, would tapering the internal laminates have an effect on performance ?
Yes to everything, essentially the Victorians tried to simulate the properties of Yew by using other materials in a `sandwich`, central core can increase cast/speed, we use things like Osage/Purpleheart/Greenheart/Yew, yes we taper the center laminate.
@@longbows thank you for the information and it’s very interesting! What is the purpose of tapering the core laminations, is it just so you can have an easier time with the draw weight ?
@@longbows a little. I use EA40 because of the slower cure time. I’d like to use titebond 3 but I’d be afraid of it drying before I got everything in place and clamped.

we have covered most of this in more detail, this was just a 'whats happening in the workshop' than an educational video.
Do you use a heatingbox for drying the glue over night? Which temperature do you use for drying the glue?
no, I don't need a heating box. the required temperature is written on the tube of glue. at most I may bring the materials in the house at night

Welcome. No, it's because the bow needs to bend evenly, stiffer in the middle, bending more down the length of each limb
Is that just wood glue you’re using?
yes indeed, surprised?

it takes overnight to dry, I have never had an issue
