I watched this in theaters when I was a kid and it was part of how I fell in love with Sci-Fi. Each time I re-watch this movie, I'm always pleasantly surprised with how well the effects have held up over time.
The reason why the humans are "much easier to repair" than the original Ra's host is indirectly explained in the TV show: the sarcophagus technology is based on an Ancient healing device, which was designed to work on Ancients (the original Stargate builders), which are very similar biologically to humans, so it also works on humans (albeit with nastier side effects) unlike the first host of Ra, which was either an Unas or an ancestor of an Asgard of sorts. This explains why Ra chose Earth as a main source of slaves, as opposed to other alien planets.
@@kicknsystm the original healing device the sarcophagus is based off is too powerful for humans and can bring people back from the dead, albeit as a sort of zombie like creature. Being just in close proximity is enough to heal you but also makes you paranoid.
@@kicknsystm Spoilers for the tv show just in case and here's some expanded lore in it. Ra's species the Goa'uld is a physical parasite not the mind replacement thing here, and they also have incredible healing powers for their host. The healing device does heal but it also causes increasing mental degradation with each use, for the Goa'uld this happens over centuries and millennia but for humans after just a few uses they become megalomaniacs and eventually it progresses to total loss of mental functions.
Honestly while the show itself was good the movie was such a great self encapsulated experience. A full story of space and time travel that created a foundation for so many sci-fi stories to follow.
This movie really made an impression on me. Made me realise that, if gods/angels/demons existed, they would be called aliens today, as they are one and the same concept. Then ‘Prometheus’ came came to cinemas, then the marvel movies with Thor, etc., re-emphasised this idea. Makes you see all religious accounts and texts differently, making some sense out of them.

I hope this inspires more people to watch this movie. When I saw it when I was younger I loved it. It’s such a good movie and the series based off of it is pretty good too.
These soldiers repeatedly escalate, rather than deescalate, several situations. They increase the danger towards themselves and increase the probability of mission failure. If you vecome a soldier, remember this comment and don't screw yourself or your mission.
Saw this with my dad a single time when we rented some movies from our local rental place (family owned). I recall the game of it being quite difficult.
For fans of SG-1, preproduction of a new series is underway. For die-hard fans, 2 humorous factoids: 1. Christopher Judge (Teal'c) would play a prank called 'turd burglar' on his costars. Should his costars fail to properly lock their trailer, Chris would sneak in, drop a dookie in their toilet and leave it unflushed. 2. As part of RDA's standard contract, his full name was to appear in the opening credits and be the same size/font as the show's title. As one might notice, there are more letters in 'Richard Dean Anderson' than there is in the name 'Stargate - SG1'. As such, the rendering software properly cropped the extra letters in RDA's name to fit on the screen. So, the original title screen for the show read: STARGATE - SG1 Starring HARD DEAN ANDERS When this was shown to RDA, he laughed, said "I like it" and that they should leave it in. After a moment, RDA told them to use a smaller font to make his name fit on the screen properly.

The same way people on Earth do? There's probably some river or an oasis that provides water and crops for people and the livestock. It's entirely possible that the town and the mine are an inland reach because of the mineral deposits and they get food and water through caravans.

Nice. You went with the director's cut of this movie. This definitely tells a better story than the theatrical release.
Glad you enjoyed the video Jeremy!
What happened with the old narrator?
