    What confusion is there Bjorn? GTX doesn't describe that the vehicles are AWD, just that they are the performance trim. All ID cars come as standard with RWD. Some can be had with AWD, that's the 4MOTION moniker. The ID.4 is sold as GTX 4MOTION, which has 250kW power and is AWD.
    Interesting though, it seems like the current AP550 RWD has the same power as the 4MOTION variant, which means that it uses the older rear motor (or it's "detuned") paired with a front motor. GTX uses the AP550 with the front motor.

    So we had the Toyota Highlander, then Tesla Model 3 Highland and now VW ID.4 Highline 😅
    Maybe you should add a comment in the spreadsheet that this run was without A/C? Seems like it could be a 5-10 Wh/km difference on an early summer day in your test. Of course it depends on how VW uses A/C.

    I did a 230k trip in my Enyaq 85, 19inch wheels. Travelling mostly at between 90-110km/h, 22c external temperature, achieved 14.1kwh/100km as reported by the car. Same AP550 motor. Great car, pleasure to drive, and great charging curve even if peak is around 130kw.

  • @cap0815
    @cap0815 24 дня назад +1

    Its a question you need to invest - in Germany - 2.700EUR for the 4Motion compared to the same horsepower RWD. The 4Motion can tow 200kg breaked weight more, 175kW not 135kW charging speed, but turning radius is bigger -> 11,6m to 10,3m

      Afaik in Europe Speedos are meant to over indicate speed at any speed. In the past the difference was higher, now it's only 3 kph at lower speeds (well ID. cars can't go faster) but at higher speeds wheels change the effective diameter and the 3 kph is a security margin to always over indicate speed as per law.

    • @e94mli
      @e94mli 24 дня назад

      @@e-redj I know, but they should get rid of or at least reduce it now when all cars have to ding when you go over. VW ID cars a incredable exact at 3km/h over all the time, regardless of speed. Would also be nice if all cars had the same buffer or even better self calibrating speedometers since they all have GPS now.

    Efficiency appears to have increased at low speeds, but nothing appears to have changed at higher speeds.
    I would have hoped for a little more, especially after all the marketing VW has done here - and it's also questionable what it looks like in winter, VW has always been weak here.

  • @subbiahpalani

    This software is new in the way they fixed bugs from initial iD software and shafted the early owners.
    Software functionally is almost the same, if you recall iD software 2.1 used to precondition the battery but on unlock rather than while navigating to DCFC, that bug is fixed.
    You can preheat battery in 2.1 and 3.X is software except this is not user exposed because VW decided like Hyundai group to stop precondition when battery is ‘critical’ so VW has fixed the bug causing inter module communication between so the navigation and battery heater can communicate. Another bug fix.
    Other than ventilated seat you are buying a car with bug fixes the same brand that abandons rest of their fleet.
    VW replaced IR leds with visible light LED and added ventilated seats. That’s the real difference outside the rear motor. Also VAG got rid of most of the folks on this to get their version of Android Automotive(nonGAS Gen 1 Launch year Macan EV and Taycan facelift) , second year of production is abandoning first year model years to ones with google application services supported Android Automotive.

    • @lukasweishaupt2708
      @lukasweishaupt2708 25 дней назад +8

      Completely wrong. First of all: it's not just a new software and a new screen, the whole infotainment system got upgraded. That's why old cars can't get the new software (they still get updates for the old software!).
      Secondly, the old way of preconditioning wasn't a "bug". With the old chemistry, VW made the decision to always heat the battery, which of course is terrible for short distance consumption, but good for battery longevity.
      That alone is already a lot for a simple facelift. On top of that, the new APP550 motor is one of the most efficient drive units in the industry. What more can you expect from a facelift?

    • @subbiahpalani
      @subbiahpalani 24 дня назад

      @@lukasweishaupt2708 Oh the irony, if heating strategy was for battery longevity why did VW change the behavior from MY22? Want to prove me wrong simple cite a source. From what your reply your argument is really weak inferring VW is currently not caring about battery longevity. Also pre ‘APP550’ still heats battery on id software v3.x but after plugging into DCFC. The ‘new iD4 has the same chemistry as the old one. They’ve improved it by adding more battery suppliers, but the same LG and SK cells as you’d see no mention of specific cell chemistry changes on any of VW releases.
