- GTA Definitive Edition is being picked apart as this year's version of Cyberpunk 2077 and honestly the focus should be at what we're losing in the community sphere for a bunch of game remasters that leave the original games far more desired. Thanks for watching!

The fact that Rockstar didn't care to actually remaster the legacy games themselves, but cared enough to /distribute/ them and for 60$ should tell you everything you need to know. It's a subpar nostalgia cash-grab and it's pathetic modders had to be shunned in the process.
The modifications you mentioned in your video like SA-MP, MTA & GTA Underground are one of the reasons the original TRILOGY games are still so relevant to date. Because despite the modifications themselves, there are thousands of community-ran servers all with their own unique content that drive the player numbers for those games. Creating those lasting moments that you wouldn't otherwise experience in the base games.
Also considering that the original versions of the games have been pulled from all other digital stores, forcing on players just the 'definitive editions' is surely a low-blow, and it's setting a decline for all those multiplayer mods that rely on new players running the old games.
Truly, the effort, love and compassion for these games is something insurmountable and it baffles me how Rockstar can't clean the sh*t out of their eyes to realize it.

And yet cheaters are having a field day in GTA5 online while take-two goes after people who make mod to enhance solo player experience.
Yup. Because of the pay piggies giving them enough money in hopes that they can get back at them, by buying an opressor MK2. They kinda let the cheaters roam, because : 1) It would take effort to get rid of them and is a losing battle 2) Having people frustrated that are now willing to buy an advantage, or want to reward themselves with a purchase after getting griefed by cheaters to make themselves feel better. It is in Rockstar's / Take 2's interest to be lazy.

@@jak_1894 That's like saying "dogs biting people is the other side of people owning dogs, and that's why I don't defend against PETA putting down dogs that haven't ever bit people before." The gaming industry has gotten way too big, that sadly attracted all the money hungry fucks. These times are over and i have no clue what any videogame enjoyer can do if a big majority of people is supporting this kind of shit. The only way these guys will notice that we see games as art is when they get a hit in their bank account.
Corporations will never in a million years fully utilize and leverage their modding community. Bethesda is a great example, Basically everyone working over there knew that mods were propping their flimsily cobbled together games up way higher than they ever should. And They still managed to grenade their own modding community by monetizing and comodifying it. Corporations arent just bad, theyre fundamentally antithetical to the creative process.

Modders shouldn't have to make a game fun. The game should be fun on its own and modders should add their quirks as they whim, not "fix" something a "AAA" dev makes.
Kinda agree
Some games are enhanced by mods like Minecraft. It's fun by itself but it's even better when you can add mods that match what style you like.
Dragon Ball XenoVerse 2. I don't need to say any more.
Lmao you should tell that Bethesda. But hey, at least they actually encourage their modding community instead of threatening to sue them
But it’s triple A devs man what do you expect
For some reason I love it when Muda shits on stuff like this, he has such an entertaining yet logical way of doing it
God, I remember the single mod I made for GTA: San Andreas. Nothing like any of these big conversion mods (though I think I might've played the zombie one at some point), but it was a player skin collection that was literally just most of the models of the Resident Evil Outbreak main cast (because at the time I was *really* into Resident Evil Outbreak). I remember because I was still new to modeling (I literally learned through reading shoddy tutorials online, lmao), the models all had some jank to them, particularly Alyssa's C outfit, and sadly I never got around to finishing that project. Even so, I still felt so much pride when I made and released that little mod and look back on it fondly. And it upsets me to know so many others who made much bigger mods than I ever could are being forced to erase their pride, accomplishment, and history just because Cockstar felt their dick was too short to match up to that of their modding community.
A lot of us were into GTA and RESI in the older days. I think San andreas has the most skin mods, simply because of the culture of the time.
I remember being really hyped about a mod/project on GTAF called "Resident Evil: Outbreak File #3"
I never foresaw that a Reforge 2.0 was possible, but here we are. Rockstar copying Blizzard's incompetence
SA:MP was my shit back in the day. The amount of good RP I experienced there is unbelievable, I have spent hours/entire days playing that back then(it was also pretty damn advanced).
Take Two should, instead of scaring modders into taking their mods off, hire them to help them fix their mess of a game.
Just watched your definitive review, such a shame R star took down the og’s off of steam. Thankfully digging around I used the downgrade mod for SA and can finally play it after 14 years! Your videos have been very enjoyable and entertaining! Thank you for all your hard work Muta!
Can you tell me how?
It’s a shame this whole thing had to turn out this way
So many disappointing releases recently like damn lol
14 Carrat run of bad luck
Finding this channel this year has been great, I've been researching Emulation Linux and VM's hoping to bite the bullet and jump in soon. Thanks Muta!
The TLAD content in GTA 4 mod was actually unique. Some assets i.e. the chopper bikes are in an earlier state than in actual TLAD, so are somewhat different at times.
you know, not showing gameplay before releasing is very scummy.
Corpos just destroy every piece of art they own.

"I'm not saying Rockstar should've rebuilt these games in Rage"
Then i will Muta. Rockstar should've rebuilt these games in Rage.
Honestly, considering how phone nowadays are as strong as an xbox one or PS4 these days, I am surprised no one at Rockstar use Rage engine for this remaster. It was obvious they went with Unreal Engine 4 for the fact it is an engine that was flexible to run on Mobile.
Just the freeway mods, and visual mods alone are A+. I spent so much time modding III, and it way easily 100% better. It's sad how far down they dropped the ball.
Honestly I think this should be an illegal practice. All the mods used reversed engineering practices that have been proven legal in court. If you own the base game, you should be able to do what you want with it. If they wanted to make nice with some of the textures swap and assets swaps why not just sell a mod pass for those that want to play with the mods. Everyone wins then.
I think it's really bad PR to take down mods that you have to own the game to play
Very good remaster, copy-paste the C++ code from the mobile version into UE4, run the textures through Waifu2X and subdivide the character models. Unless they are using their own volumetric fog solution, they already have an exponential height fog actor in the scene, all they had to do is tweak the fog start, falloff and height. Instead, they turn it off and leave only the volumetric fog on. The game is insanely unoptimized to the point that it lags on all platforms, so there was probably no optimization pass at all.
And yet these NPC's splurge 70 bucks on it, at this point its not even rockstar fault.. its the people buying it
@@joakimedvardsson2294 Fanboys will buy everything
@@joakimedvardsson2294 Also defend it
No way they actually called the program Waifu2x, that was a joke you're making right :)?
"It compiles with just a few warnings... LET'S SHIP IT!"

I love the glitch in Vice city. I remember a time where i was trying to get to a mission on time, and somehow i crashed into a building and ended another part of the map and made it on time. When are people going to learn that if people stop feeding these corporal. When their pocket starts getting lighter they will listen to you.
That would also be a Neverending cycle at this point. Game is good = people buy it = company makes money = company feels invincible = releases shit game = fans not happy = stops buying = company loses money = fells forced to make good game. And then the cycle starts again, I'm pretty convinced that we are just fucked now.
@@brotbrotsen1100 Company feels invincible comes from there always being idiots scammed. Even now, there are people who paid 60 dollars for the games. 20 YEAR OLD GAMES
@@Klongu_Da_Bongu And i just don't get it. These games, even if they would run flawlessly aren't worth 60 bucks. If they would have remade them individually and brought the graphics and gameplay to modern standards i would have paid 40 for 3 and vice city and 60 for SA. The actual package in a perfect condition is something i would pay 30 $ for, in the current condition i wouldn't even pirate them.
I'm never trying the definitive edition ...San Andreas means so much to be I'm literally " look at how They massacred my boy meme "
Played it when I was 7 in 2004. Look at how they massacared my boy.
I love LSPD:FR, base mod basically makes an entire new game out of GTA V. Download a few car and ped packs, and a few plugin packs, and it becomes one of the best police, firefighter, and medic simulators to exist in the gaming world.
I like to think GTA V is comparable to vanilla ice cream; it’s great on its own, and can be more than enough on a lot of occasions. But it’s also an amazing base for something more; whether it’s sprinkles (slight enhancements) or for chocolate chip cookie dough (larger mods like LSPDFR). You can’t threaten people for adding Oreo’s to the mix. Weird analogy, I know.
Like you said, mods are why a lot of people buy these games. I already had GTA V on the 360 and Xbox One, I didn’t need it for PC, but I bought it anyways so I could experience new content that people who have genuine love for the franchise made. Completely free of charge.
I remember a few years ago when TakeTwo shut down the project to port GTA IV’s map to GTA V. I could see the issue in that, but in order for the mod to function, you needed to own a legal copy of GTA IV. I’m sure a lot of people who didn’t previously own it, would’ve had no problem purchasing it just for that. They shot themselves in the foot on that one.
I remember the day like it was yesterday. My girlfriend came over and we were playing on the Xbox. Me being the GTA fan I am was like "I wish we could play GTA 5 together, like in the good old days of PS2 San Andreas". She was astonished as, although she was a gamer, was never really into the GTA franchise, but loved the idea. I was so happy to tell her that there is a wonderful GTA game called San Andreas, an older game but really awesome with in some cases cooler details like going to the gym/fast food places (what GTA 5 didn't have) The best part, you could play it with 2 people! I had the game installed with GamePass, I loaded it up, went to that location in between the little houses aaand.... It wasn't there :C they removed that in the newer release. I said my favorite quote "My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined" I'm still sad I couldn't play that wonderful game with my girlfriend :C
As a broke ass artist, I care about detail, contrast, vibrancy, consistency, intricacy and texture to about everything that makes a legible image no matter what the style.. maybe it’s that I don’t have a million dollars to deprive me of any compassion but I really care
We need you running these games!!
You remind me of Yusuke from Persona 5

PSA: Enable DX12 on GTA trilogy to drastically improve at least the performance. I went from 115 FPS max, to 115 FPS as my minimum. I have legit never seen a "tip" give me an extra 40-60 FPS boost like this, absolutely unreal.
Make a shortcut for each .exe. Right click and click properties. Look for the target line and add -dx12 to the end after the quotes. Apply and run from shortcut.
Using the kind of tricks you'd normally use to run a really old game on modern OS's, on a game that hasn't even been out for a month just so that it doesn't run like garbage
Absolutely incredible
@@ertrick3693 Brings back memories of compatibility mode and single core threading.
Same with battlefield 2042 enable dx12 in the files and it helps alot
They do this to trilogy and probably expected that modders would just fix it after just like the original. They definitely wanted the remastered trilogy to be modded as they know that the original one thrived on that. Yet, at the same time, they treated the community like shits, striking mods and basically nullified the works of every modders with the deletion of the original from being sold.
*For anyone who are going to be modding the new remastered version of the trilogy, remember that you are basically just “assets” to them until they shut you down for their own benefits.*
"If you think I haven't wasted a few hours on it, you'd be baffled"
Wat, I'm baffled at that statement
This game is the definition of “I pirated this game and I still want my money back”
I did not pirate this game nor played it
So many games feel like they are just money laundering schemes. You play for 10 minutes and the game feels old.
If Take2/R* dropped the ball THIS HARD.....
Just imagine how bad GTA 6 will be(if they even release it or just cyberpunk the shit out of it
Even gta 5 is a huge downgrade from 4, i have no hope for gta 6.
They dropped the ball so hard it shattered the hard wood floor and went through said floor.
if it took Grove Street games (poor SOBs) 2 years to release *this*. Rockstar is gonna go into crunch time
damn i really thought rockstar was the one game maker that had a degree of integrity. just because they put out good games doesn’t make their bullshit practices justifiable.
I realised this as soon as they started milking gta v and lost all of my respect for the company. Gta V has been slowly becoming more and more shit with every "update". As soon as i saw the gameplay for Definitive edition, i could instantly and clearly see how cheap everything felt and how it was just a ploy to get everyone to buy the "remaster" they were making. It's nothing but a buggy retexture.
Greed has ruined rockstar. Fuck rockstar.
@@20EsOfficial Rockstar became someone who V made fun of.
Insert quote about " the either die a hero or long enough to be villain"
It all went downhill went GTA V made a lot of money, and the higher up began to take over decisions from passionate staffs.
I still believe Rockstar still have the talents to make good games. But with Take Two in command, it's just shit.
Rockstar *HAS NO SINGLE ACTIVE DEVELOPER* working there that was involved in the creation of these games.
That doesn’t excuse them from putting their name on the shit, removing the classic games from all platforms, and issuing lawsuits to modders
Rockstar still approved it to ship in its current state
@@trashcompactorYT Of course not. I think it shows only how much these games are owned by the company or maybe how much these are NOT OWNED by them. The developer puts a lot of effort and heart into such thing. If some would be still out there, they wouldn't allow for such disgrace with grotesque name "GTA Definitive Edition"
@@HanSolo__ yeah. Sadly most of the talent left Rockstar North before GTA V was finished which is why Rockstar now uses all studios to make every game instead of just RDR games
I so wished that you would of brought up FiveM's past when it was still very early in development along with GTA MP and how Take Two sent cease and desists to both projects and apparently even had guys in suits show up at FiveM's lead developer's door. I guess we are really lucky to have people (but mainly 1 person I think) pick the FiveM project back up since it's open source.
Fit-Girl repacks has a fan made definitive edition with the original games and all the good mods!
Thanks will have to look into it, I hope for much better definitive editions like that vs Rockstars.
“The moral of the story is: I chose a half-measure when I should have gone all the way. I'll never make that mistake again. No more half-measures.” The only game that is underrated to this day is Sleeping Dogs Definitive Editions
I'm still mad Sleeping Dogs' sequel got cancelled. That game is a straight up underrated gem.
Only the real know about this one.
Breaking Bad 🙌🏼
What’s even more upsetting is that Sleeping Dogs never got a sequel, but Life is Strange is still running strong. What a crappy trade off.
nothing but facts.
i legit wanted to play sleeping dogs again, via illegal methods, but the game is good to the point it's not worth pirating
The Piratebay for all your GTA needs rockstar can't provide.
Looking at Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition, the Developers are like a pocket of fans who now works to make that Remaster.
and the Age of Empires 2 HD can still be bought if people want to play it.
Better yet the Definitive Edition pull the HD player into DE by making DE much more fun.
this is probably just a coincidence, but if a Definitive Edition or Remaster locks the purchase of the original, there's some Shady stuff in it.
One Example is Total War : Rome Remastered that locks the purchase of the Original and it goes super bad.
While Age of Empires 3 Definitive Edition have some rough start but still allows people to buy the Original(even though for some reason the Original cost more than Definitive Edition), despite having some problem the developer tries to add more features in the game.
Age 3 was expensive when it was new, similar to 4 now
it tried to keep up with the AAA trends of the time, higher resolution 3d graphics, 3d landscape, more streamlined gameplay
but at the same time it introduced unwanted things like building position and unit composition restrictions and the mostly hated card system
also, it was far too zoomed in, but had zoom out been allowed to a view like 1 and 2 have it would still look high enough resolution for today
and fans weren"t happy with the worse ship destruction design of DE
but original 3 gets the steepest discounts of the series, so at the right time it and 2 HD the cheapest
Yeah age of empire III DE is still receive new content to this day
Dude, even EA let the original devs of C&C make their remaster AND ALSO LET THEM RELEASE THE FUCKING SOURCE CODE.
Rockstar and T2 managed to be worse than fucking EA by a mile, this is bizarro world.
That's kinda sad, That's my childhood right there... to this day, I haven't poured so many hours into a game like I did with GTA. And that's coming from an Arma 3 and Rust player
