Denver man loses $500 through invalid gift card

A Denver man who bought a $500 Apple gift card at Walmart said the two corporate giants gave him the runaround when the card would not activate. Our Contact Denver7's Jaclyn Allen went to bat for him.

This is happening in Canada too. I bought 3 $500 Apple Gift Cards at separate times, they were totally sealed and when I tried to validate them, I got the same message. Here is Canada there are no refunds for gift cards. I called Apple and they checked them out and told me they had already been redeemed, therefore, no refunds. These cards were for my grandchildren and I only have my pensions for income, so I can’t afford to replace them. I wish there was some way to prove that I had redeemed them so I could get my $1500 back or replacement cards. I will not be buying Apple Card’s in the future. Btw these were bought at Walmart and Shoppers Drug Mart stores

Bait and double switch.. both apple & Walmart ... gift card are a money grab with no recourse.. 95% of complaints will have no good outcome.

The person needs to make a police report. I don't buy store gift cards and I use a reloadable debit card and it uses PayPal that takes place of the gift card. My reloadable gift card is good, and it hasn't been tampered with. When I buy a gift card, I take the one in the middle or back and inspect it for tampering. If I see someone tampering, I will tell the store or I will call the police.

I called it in as stolen. When I tried to use it , it would not go through. It was for 200. Someone used up $75. They sent a new card with the balance. Really pissed me off! ​@@eddiestevenson2189
