There's plenty to say and peruse regarding Ys X Nordics. Its combat systems and character dynamics are wholly refreshing components providing inherently greater gameplay individuality than what the past four entries brought to the table. Still, the probably overlooked setting and premise offer a more nuanced adventure than what many would consider. The collective and malleable potential of Ys is truly boundless, and Ys X Nordics represents that reality tenfold.

Falcom rarely disappoints...the only thing it does wrong is not bringing games outside of Japan fast enough.
It's crazy, literally every game I have played made by them, about seven games now, have all been wonderful.
I live in Japan and it's been out for around a year here. It's well received and most review sites are giving it 8.5 or 9/10.
Let's see if Ys 10 can topple Ys 8 as the Best game of the franchise!

It's pretty hard to miss with an Ys game. If you like Action RPGs, you'll probably enjoy at least some games in the franchise.

I'm assuming that Ys X tells the story of how Adol got cursed to have every ship he steps on sink and why he doesn't seem to realize it.
He's the mc. Everywhere he goes, bad things are bound to happen.
As someone who pre-ordered this game, I am both hyped and anxious for its release: hype because it's Ys and that series doesn't miss, and anxious because I still need to finish trails through daybreak and Reynatis😅
Falcom is firing on all cylinders! I just bought Trails through Daybreak and I completely forgot about Ys X. Atleast its releasing in October!

I still need to play 9, but 8 is one of my favorite games.
I'm yet to dive into the series (already got some of the games) but one question... shouldn't these games' environments look less empty in 2024? I don't mind the character models but the world seems completely empty.

I've never played any of these games but is the sailing as dull as it looks? I've never reallly been a fan of traveling by sea in games.

By having the girl in the main cast, they are broadening their base: The Trails fans are spoiled with Waifu options, and the Tales Of ARPG franchise fanbase is majority female.

Is the editor struggling to meet word count? The script would sound better if you cut the bland, superfluous adverbs.
the ship combat looks way too scuffed for a 2024 game, AC: black flag came out 10 years ago with much better stuff than this, kinda meh. But the general action combat still looks cool so I'm hopeful for that.

I'm glad that Y's ended up being successful, it's just turned into something that No longer appeals to me as a fan of the series since the very first game. Too bad.

I've liked every Ys have except Ys IX. Hope this one brings it back. Ys VIII was truly the peak of the series, though I miss the 2D sprite in 3D background era of Ark, Memories, etc. Something about Adol embarking on a journey alone that really made Ys....Ys.
Again let's hope the translators actually do their job and not take liberties in changing stuff to just fit their own political beliefs. 😅

Ys has gone downhill just like every other game franchise, can't make a good game in 2 years need longer dev cycles
Falcom put out a game every year. They make the Trails games too.
Idk about scope and ambition, the graphics seem base ps4 at best. It's been a series around long enough they need to put more effort into modern times.
they could at least make it look like genshin or other similar anime games of today
Switch was the target platform, so the ps4 version just get a res boost to 1080p with the ps5 version hitting 4k 60fps.
@@SpeedsterBlur ahh well that makes more sense. Japanese Rpg publishers should start developing day 1 for all consoles to maximize their profits and exposure. Sick of seeing Square Enix telling us everyone one of their games hasn't sold well enough but only release on one Brand.

@@drowningin yea but it's been out on switch and other platforms Japan since last year. I just meant they should develop for all platforms, Sony, Xbox, Nintendo and pc at the beginning of development and not ports later.
Ffs Falcom. I don't demand triple A graphics, but Ys looks so bloody awful. The fact they charge something like 60 bucks is an audacity.
