What’s new in NHL 24 shows a lot of promise. The Exhaust Engine introduces satisfying mechanics that make games feel more intense, though refinement to its balance is needed to keep the defensive team competitive. The improved checking system and inclusion of HUT Moments are significant features as well. However, most of the returning game modes remain nearly untouched from the last couple of years and the introduction of a battle pass, along with some annoyingly long wait times to get into games, make it harder to cheer for.

He likes the gameplay. Should be the biggest part of a review score. I'm not interested in this series until matchmaking and menus are faster.
Lmao, they said "stale" and "standard" slap a 7 on it still. This is why, just like news networks, these reviewers are losing it too.
As someone who owns and plays this game, a 7 is pretty fair. It's fine. So while you may not like the way a 7 rating was articulated, it's still a pretty accurate review.

Ever noticed that all of EA's Sports games have been mediocre for over a decade?? Madden, FIFA, NHL all of them. It's obvious EA doesn't care anymore. They phone it in every year.

Icon passing is not a multitasking nightmare it is something I've wished and hoped and prayed for many years to come back it is nothing new they used to have it in playstation 2 or 3 It is to make sure your pass is going where you want it instead of the computer dictating the wrong pass. What is still missing is icon selection on defense To make sure you pick the correct player against incoming rushes.

Yet poking checking power/stick lift does nothing in this game. Slashing basically all game couldn't take the puck off the cpu!
Or you can just manually pass like a man..

It got a 7, per usual.
Im a hardcore nhl player for the past hell since sega days. Snes days. Nhl 24 felt awkward at first but its better than nhl 20-21-22-23.... Why but a 7 its better than most of the previous games. Its a big step forward.
yeah, steep learning curve but ultimately the best game since 2019

@@vinylrecords4452 right they had an update that finally stopped the one timer for one week and that was the only fun week of the season. No it's skate to the circle stop and skate across the ice and shoot low far side. Goes in every single time. The goalie refuses to slide with the play and leaves it wide open.

Total control needs to be removed why make a controller dedicated to hand holding.
The only positive thing EA added was the vision passing. Helps out a ton especially on breakouts. Everything else is pretty meh.

3:40 the position of the players correspond with the buttons so you shouldn’t have to look hard. The bottom player is x, top triangle, left square, right circle

The game hasn’t changed in 10 years. Players don’t have the right features, skating is arcade like. There’s no actual realism. Sad

Why should the defense get rewarded for not allowing a goal while the pressure meter is full? The reward should be back to full strength when they clear..

Nhl25 new feature; your be a pro will now actively ignore having any kind of emotions, while previously it was just scandinavian stoicism. In game you will now face off Harry Potter on the ice. Were not really sure yet, but it has to be since your opposition managed to poke you off the puck despite him being ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RINK, while you doing the exact same thing renders you a 2 min penalty for just simply thinking of doing it

@@coachdavison8728 entire EA sports has become a scam since they decided to put in micro transitions and probably only focusing on "improving" that. My guess is the only reason the sports games are yearly is so EA can reset any online progress for their money whales so they can milk them and any hockey interested fan again the very next season.
Also whenever a goal is scored, your player will, out of thin air, spawn in disco lights, background dancers and a fire breathing dragon, which he will ride in celebration of the goal. This is exactly the type of presentation people have been asking for.

Haven't played a hockey game in about 20 years curious about this
I’ve never played NHL and saw that it was free on ps+, so came on here to see if it’s worth it. Not even gonna finish the video, the first few seconds of gameplay looks WILD and jittery. It’s a NO for me
We need 2k back in the nhl series. Since ea doesnt do anything great with the series. At least 2k had a zamboni mode. Did ea ever had a zamboni mode?

EA just copies and pastes all their sports game. One of the laziest developer. How are we still giving them a pass and buying their sports games? This is the last year I'm buying EA Fc. It's the same Damn game every year.

I’m a handheld gamer so it’s nice to be able to play a nhl game on the steam deck as there’s nothing on switch. I’m happy to give this 8/10
New to hockey is it better to start here or on an older game
Definitely an older one. Don't buy this game. It's garbage. If you absolutely have to, buy 22 or 23. Seeing as how it's an EA product, they're not much better, but still definitely better than 24.

Hitting, passing, shooting, penalty system, goaltending, you name it, this game is littered with ridiculous game play and resembles ping pong and bowling pins more than it does hockey. Horrid gaming experience. Maybe a 2.5/10 at best.
Just played this with my nephew on ps5. What a steaming pile of garbage. Played 3 periods with him and the game blows.

If you actually sit and watch, the way the players move look so unrealistic it’s a shame, and the more you watch the worse it gets, especially in replays.

The hitting is awful. Players get right back up like nothing happened.

“EA’s hockey series in particular has been in a real slump”… That’s hilarious considering Madden is one of the worst game franchises of all time. Madden is 10x worse even though they get 10x the revenue and publicity.

Yes, PC players makes more noise when the same flaws still exists 8 years later, while console players still happily buys a dlc and minor roster updates for over 70 usd.

The pressure system is dumb and something nobody asked for. The only online mode where you can team up with full human contolled team (WOC )doesn’t even have line changes. They shouldn’t be able to call this game a simulation.

Why would the defense get rewarded for allowing the offense to cycle the puck in the zone for 30+ seconds at a time? This almost always results in a goal irl. Goes to show this clown never played or really watched hockey
EA are the biggest Slackers with Madden and NHL. The EA sports games actually get worse by the year instead of better. Save your money
