That this song was ever made is so unbelievable - and they must have been exhausted afterwards. Recorded after the music awards show so instead of partying they went recording - Michael didn't even think he was going to sing he was just co-writing... :-)
This song has a very special place in my life. 1986. An event you rarely hear of anymore but was all you heard about leading up to it. Hands Across America. I was a part of a group of 8 representing out school in Portland. During the time holding hands, someone started singing this song and everyone there joined in. It was not planned for that to happen but standing on the west Bank of the river and hearing not only those beside me, but also those on the east Bank singing, as well as those on the bridges to the north and south was very memorable.
Loved your message of unity at the end. Very heartwarming!! I still remember when this song premiered in 1985. I was 13. EVERYONE donated money to this cause. The images on tv were haunting. Children in Ethiopia were skeletons and dying by the hour. I obviously know every single legend that took part in this beautiful song that spread love all over the world. You look so young. You should really try to get to know some of these amazing artists on your reaction channel. Maybe go through each artist in order one at a time and react to their biggest hit. Just an idea that I think your Gen X audience would love so much (and many other people too)

in the 80's, race, gender etc. wasn't like it is today. people of similar thinking and appreciations got together without regard to exterior appearances. The new narratives of identity politics has ruined many of theses moments by "celebrating them as special" for something that was commonplace 20 years earlier. Sorry to get political but many of us miss the idea that we are all the same, and no one needs to point out differences when they don't really matter.

Michael Jackson might be the most famous in that room, but there are many legends there. Stevie Wonder is a living legend, he sings the same way to this day, it's worth knowing more about his songs and work and Michael Jackson revered him.
My favourite part is where the camera points at Tina turner and you just see her throwing her spirit into the crowd and getting lost in the music. It's so beautiful to see
4:40 of course it's a unique tone... it's Bob Dylan!!
All these people is royalty in music, there were soul, pop, country, rock artists, very big names who truly sing, no autotune.
You are seeing and hearing so many Great Icons of the Music/ Entertainment industry.
I was born in 1984. But the children of my generation knew this song because it was played a lot on radio. Everyone did a great job singing this song but stevie wonder, bruce Springsteen, cindy lauper, ray charles were awesome! 🎉❤
Your reaction to Stevie Wonder and Bruce Springsteen is gold… love it. I would love to see your reaction to Queen set Live Aid 1985 concert.

For us old timers that recognized all this is always a real treat. You can read all the names in the video description.
Just watched the new documentary made about this song: "The greatest night in pop", which was so interesting.
You know they have to regroup all these legends in the same day . How hard it was . But for this song everyone was there for this song .
This song is fantastic ! With the best singers of the 80's 🙏😁
Not just the '80s, but from the '60s up to then.
@@RustyHinge you're right 😁🙏
Loved your message of unity at the end.
Just an idea that I think your Gen X audience would love so much (and many other people too)
For me there isnt just one they all did phenomenal and they are all amazingly talented no auto tune needed
There is a wonderful documentary about the making of this historic song and video hosted by Jane Fonda. Well worth digging into the background. It’s available on RUclips, look it up!
in the 80's, race, gender etc. wasn't like it is today. people of similar thinking and appreciations got together without regard to exterior appearances. The new narratives of identity politics has ruined many of theses moments by "celebrating them as special" for something that was commonplace 20 years earlier. Sorry to get political but many of us miss the idea that we are all the same, and no one needs to point out differences when they don't really matter.
All of them are legends. It's so sad that some of them are no longer with us. Pure, nstural talents. This song/event is timeless ❤❤❤

I have seen a bunch of reaction videos of this song, but never before have I seen someone so unaware of who these artists were.
I was born in 1984. But the children of my generation knew this song because it was played a lot on radio. Everyone did a great job singing this sing but stevie wonder, bruce Springsteen, cindy lauper, fay charles were awesome! 🎉❤
Bruce Springsteen is the the man!!! You should check out Bruce Springsteen Dancing in the Dark.
Written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie. Produced by Quincy Jones. All-stars 🌟 Credits are in Wikipedia.
In the same year, David Foster organized a supergroup in Canada 🇨🇦. Bruce Allen handled the business side. Bryan Adams, Corey Hart, Geddy Lee, the late Gordon Lightfoot, RIP, Joni Mitchell, Anne Murray, Mike Reno and Neil Young were some of the singers. The supergroup was Northern Lights.
Suggested video 📹: Northern Lights perform Tears Are Not Enough.
We lived through the BEST music!
"Those two guys going back and back" - omg, Stevie and Springsteen. I'm dying 😂 and Ray, Paul Simon, Willie, Tina?!? Bless your heart!
Please, please watch the recent netflix video ' Greatest Night in Pop". It is incredible!
As a YT reactor, you would do well with (and REALLY enjoy) a series reacting to each and every person who has a solo line in this song as they are ALL legends in their own right! An "I react to everyone who sang on We are the World". I think you would be blown away Michael!
Some of the biggest music legends of all time combined in one song... and you only know Michael Jackson? There's a lot of phenomenal music to discover, young man.
Cindy lauper ripped it !!
TBF if someone sat me down and made me react to all of today’s musical artist I wouldn’t recognize anyone either.
This will NEVER happen again as there was no egos present that night. It really makes me emotional realizing I saw the premiere on MTV back when they actually showed videos.
As a foot note: Tina Turner became the 10th artist that passed since this premiered.
My God, he didn’t recognize a single one of them. No words 🤦♂️
C'mon now. He mentioned MJ several times.
I remember seeing the photos of the famine victims. This was not the only fund-raising event but is certainly the most talked about and remembered.
When you have won over a dozen AMA’s for one album you get to wear whatever you want!
I couldn’t agree with you more! This song definitely makes me smile. Thanks for your reaction.
I’d like to see someone react to a song by each of these folks in order of appearance.
Now here's another good one I love that really really good
I jusr saw the documentary for this amd it was amazing to see how everyone came together and recorded this song all in one night
No auto tune back then. You had to have real talent to make it big and be famous. And all these people were huge!
So many of these legends have passed RIP
Bob Geldoff is was the inspiration for Do They Know it's Christmas by Band-Aid in 1984 made the song to raise money for starving people in Africa. In early 1985, Bob helped Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson create this song for the same reason. Then in July 1985, the LIve Aid concert was held to raise money for those people.
You do not know bro? The guy singing with the glasses on and the gray hair was Ray Charles! Legendary pianist and singer!
Bro doesn't know he's listening to legends.
😂
Kenny, Stevie and Dionne are the highlights for me. This was produced thru the night after The American Music Awards (That's why you see Ray Charles swaying with a coffee cup in front. His sections were a few days later and layered over)
Love how his young ass refers to “Stevie Wonder” and “Bruce Springsteen” as those two guys 🤣🤣🤣🤣Classic
I know right lol. I was like oh you dear sweet thing, bless your little heart
@@NephronOsidian 🤣🤣
Autotune did not exist back then. It was pure Talent, and those singers were Legends..
I don’t know if you recognized most the people singing. But they are huge singers from the 60’s , 70’s and 80’s. Did you notice Steve Perry from Journey sang a solo also?
I can’t believe you have never heard this legendary song before. Ray Charles and Stevie Wonders are the two blind singers. My favorite song ever. Dimash does a cover of this as well.
Q locura...bien x todos...gracias michael❤❤
A unique tone…yea that was Bob Dylan. These singers were all superstars. Those that are left still are. RIP Michael, Kenny, Ray, Al, Tina, the Pointer Sisters, Harry and any I’ve missed. Cheers
Michael, now I thought you had already seen this…..I guess I was wrong! Sit back and be amazed..this an experience. Once in a lifetime collaboration. 😊❤
