Exellent review, what was the fuel consumption per 100km/ 62 miles?

you mentioned with the BMW about the top speed in electric mode around 50mph. What speed can you do in the Volvo? I have a daily commute of 30 miles on mostly motorway (rush hour so average about 50-60 mph).

Hi Lacweb, In answer to your question - Up to 70-80 but it does drain the battery quicker in pure EV mode at speeds over 60.

If i need or want to accalerate hard but just used only the electric motor, is the motor even warm enough then!? Could this be potential danger for the life of the motor?

No. The electric motor doesn't need warm up in the way an internal combustion engine does. Additionally the electric motor is water cooled and this coolant is circulated around the diesel engine so that it's not starting from cold. Very cleverly thought out.

@shooopy It's something my younger son put to me. I will ask him to find the original source. I am unsure whether this is actually specific to this car or a general approach taken by all hybrid car manufacturers. The V60 is a very nice car but the luggage area is not large enough for me.

Great review, but you really need to sort out your sound quality. At 08:50 I can hardly hear what you're saying, vs loud music at other times. Also, too much wind noise. Come on guys, these are rookie errors.

I wonder what the mechanism for the battery charge on SAVE mode is.. Do you get higher consumption vs if the car would use diesel only and not charge the batteries while driving? Sry for bad english :P

It does increase the fuel consumption drastically. Usually by 2L/100km

It will charge the battery to 20 Km worth of driving and then keep that up to that level. So that’s nice if your end destination is banning diesel emissions. When you engage the Save mode, it will start using much more fuel up to the 20 Km and after that point it’s pretty standard hybrid.

Hello, I'm looking to buy one of these, I saw one and I absolutely loved it, but I'm a bit scared about what I've seen on the internet regarding the AC compressor. Is it a very common problem? Or I could be lucky and not have this issue?
    Thanks

it is a known problem and Volvo is repairing it under Warranty in Belgium.

It’s not something that’d put me off the car. All cars have their issues they’re prone to, and it’s not all that common.
