You can find all the details of the new Pimax Crystal Light via the following page: pimax.com/pages/crystal-light?ref=Qzok8x During the upcoming months, I will be using the Pimax Crystal Light exclusively to give you a detailed benchmark of how I experience the headset!
I have been using Pimax Crystal Light in MSFS2020 for 4 days now. Local Dimming model. It is way better than my old HP Reverb G2. Love it! My hardware 5800X3D cpu and 4070 gpu Performance is great. Colors, clarity, sharpness on the edges of view. It's all amazing! I did not get the controllers ($100), I don't need them at all for MSFS2020. I never used my HP G2 controllers after the first day in MSFS.
I have a G2 myself and think about switching to a PCL. The image and the tracking seems to be so much better. If I may ask, how would you compare the comfort and especially the weight? 950g (as advertised) or even 1350g (as in this review) seems a lot more than the G2. I am worried it might feel to heavy for me, otherwise I would have ordered it already.
I do wish these reviewers like yourself would stop saying the cost is what is shown on the store page - it isn't, it's far more. The store price is excluding tax and shipping - and neither are cheap. Store price in the UK, for example, is £725 for the highest priced package, but with mandatory tax and delivery added it turns into a whopping £917 - just £2 cheaper than the full Index system that many were complaining about being expensive. It needs to be made clearer by reviewers that the price is exclusive of tax and shipping.
Well, I have been using the Crystal Lightt with my very powerful laptop for a while now and IT IS FANTASTIC, I tell you! It is nothing short of feeling like you're in another world! WHAT A RUSH! It was very easy to install and I mostly use it for looking at 3D 108/360 videos and for playing with MSFS 2020 .
@@jsinclairinthe919 Yes, I believe that with the beast of a laptop that I aquired(spared no expenses for it), running the new MSFS 2024 will not be a problem for me!
Netherlands shirt! Just a thing about the cable: you can take it out easily, it's just plugged in because it's more user friendly that way out of the box.
If it had eye tracking, it'd be the perfect headset for me. The regular pimax crystal has features I don't need for PCVR, which is the only kind of VR I use. Thanks for the review.
Why the silence about the 60hz mode that does not exist ? Pimax sells that thing with that specification and when they are being asked about that, they are just playing dead !
Thank you for this review! So this means it actually can run with a i9-9900K? I have a 10th gen i9 myself, but Pimax lists on their website that 12th gen is minimum required, that stopped me from ordering. But if this still works today, I might reconsider.
I definitely like the price of it but sadly the thing that makes the Crystal so interesting for Simming is gone in the Light, the dynamic foveated rendering and eye tracking.
Flame! It is indeed a miss. I will have to make a dedicated video of dynamic foveated rendering vs fixed foveated rendering and see the true results there.
Great first impression. Im running a RTX 3080 and a 5700X3D with 32gb of ram. Do you think that's powerful enough to run this headset? My main use case will be American and Euro Truck sim and some games in my PCVR backlog like Half Life Alyx. Im currently using a Quest 3 paired with a BoboVR S3 and it's solid but if the clarity and FOV on the Pimax are a noticable step up, that has me curious.
@@toututu2993 I mean, I do a ton of flat screen gaming and have been using Virtual Desktop for PCVR. The Crystal Light is the first PCVR headset to spark my interest.
It definitely makes a difference. I have the Crystal Light, and I try with the local dimming off, and it is much brighter. Then the Extreme is very dark. I put it in the middle at balance, and it is great. Blacks are nice and dark, and the colors are vibrant. The whites are bright. You can see a big difference. But, too, be honest. The visuals are so good. You would be happy with or without local dimming.
Hi Bjrn! Thanks for the comment. Give me some time to test and benchmark the light a bit more. I promise you to come back with a final answer! what games do you mostly play?
@@lauboxthanks mate. Basically only DCS in VR. Running a ryzen 5 7600x with said rtx3080. Since the G2 won’t be supported rather sooner than later Im on the lookout for something new, but without having to break the bank for a 4090. 😅 Ill subscribe and follow you for upcoming content. 👌🏼
Garbage review. Youve re-hashed everything that has already been said x20 already. Why didnt you address: 1. Half lock refresh stability on 73, 90,120 2. 1/3rd lock refresh of 120hz. 3. Stutters and smoothness at all profile settings. 4. Smart smoothing. 5. Who plays truck simulator? Why not show MSFS? 6. Address the advertised 60hz mode, which it still doesnt feature.
Rustig maar Paul. Did you watch the complete video? This is an out of the box review of the Pimax Crystal. As said in the video I need to get my hands on it more to do a proper benchmark of all its features. I can assure you I will test and benchmark all of these in upcoming videos. Stay tuned!

How long did it take to receive it? I bought one July 1st.

Thanks for this ,I had no idea this was the case.. might have to be MQ3 then !

You only get a 30% improvement with that. Just upgrade your graphics card by 30%.

If you have those specs and not getting PCVR headset, then you'll only bought it to flex 😂

Dank je voor de review
Is the medium-resolution of the Pimax comparable with HP Reverb G2 @ native 100% resolution?
Pfoe. Good question. Im not entirely sure . I might be very close or similar indeed !
I've heard the local dimming is way over hyped

Raad je aan om mijn G2 te upgraden met de Light?
Gpu is een 3080.
Dank voor je insights.

Use openXR You will be playing 100% FPS
Bro is calling a 3080ti a lower end graphics card 🤦
That thing cost as much as a proper car selling you 2 features that is next to useless 😂
My 3080Ti EVGA FTW3 card is weak compared to my 4090 Areo Card. 😉👌

Still too damn big. The design is awful.
Big, but so much lighter. And personally i think the front looks pretty dope.
The design looks terrible with the oversize feel
doesnt look light at all...
Doesnt look light, also doesn't really feel light, but way lighter than the Pimax crystal
Bulky, uselessly
There is no way I am ever wearing this microwave in my head!! Not even if it was retina resolution and 200 fov
Pimax headsets are always so hilariously big. 🫠
Big, but ow so clear! :D
