  • What's good!
As always, it's Daumantas from the Baller squad. Today, we're doing a performance review of the second Luka Doncic's signature shoe - Jordan Luka 2.
Can it be better than arguably the best Jordan's debut signature shoe from the modern era - Luka 1? There's only one way to find out.
    Let's get it!
    MATERIALS
Unlike the outgoing model, which featured an ultra-minimal upper, the Luka 2 puts more emphasis on containment and stability, using a combination of dense textile and synthetic leather.
Reminiscent of basketball shoes from the early 2000s, the Luka 2 boasts a nice build quality, followed by robust upper materials that improve the durability and longevity of the shoe.
Although the materials used in the upper are thick and enclosed for the most part, the second Luka's signature shoe does impress with its effective breathability properties, maintaining optimal inside temperatures, even in warmer environments.
    CUSHION
The Jordan Luka 2 introduces an updated cushioning system that retains the full-length Formula 23 core, complemented by the latest Cushlon 3.0 foam.
The whole lateral side of the midsole is fully caged in, preventing the foam from expanding to the sides. As a result, all of the player's stored energy is directed back to the foot, creating a highly responsive platform and great court feel. Meanwhile, a completely exposed Cushlon 3.0 foam on the medial side is specifically designed for the step-back move, which generates even more energy recoil.
In the heel area, the translucent rubber reveals foam articulations to give the Formula 23 foam more room to expand, resulting in much better impact protection than the debut model.
    TRACTION
The Jordan Luka 2 uses an almost identical traction pattern to its predecessor, which means elite traction is back.
Covered in multidirectional tread, the outsole produces an aggressive bite with the floor and sharp stopping power to go along. A thin line setup, combined with a relatively soft rubber compound, allows the tread to move and adapt to the surface, meaning a stronger grip.
Due to many open channels in the pattern, dust accumulation isn't a big issue as the performance of the outsole stays solid, even on poorly maintained courts. Unlike indoor courts, the Luka 2 is not as effective on outdoor surfaces - not only because of the softer rubber compound but also because of the outsole's structure itself.
    FIT
Taking on a retro look, the Jordan Luka 2 offers a noticeably different on-court experience than the original model.
While the stiffer upper materials require a short break-in process, the lacing system allows the shoe to form-fit and lock in your foot efficiently and with ease, right from the first ball session. In addition, a heavily padded tongue, together with a well-cushioned internal heel section, provides a comfortable step-in experience.
The flex grooves found on the bottom make individual parts of the outsole move separately, ensuring precise and more natural footwork while maintaining the shoe's maximum capabilities in every step.
When it comes to sizing, staying true to size is what we recommend for most. However, wide footers should go half a size up with these.
    SUPPORT
One of the most supportive low-top silhouettes just got more supportive with the arrival of the Jordan Luka 2.
In the back, the shoe hides probably the thickest plastic heel counter in the market, and along with the updated IsoPlate torsional system, the Luka 2 simply dominates in this department. Wrapping around the whole forefoot, the IsoPlate not only ensures great lateral coverage but also maintains a stable platform when performing on one foot.
    VERDICT
The Jordan Luka 2 has adopted all the best features from Luka's debut signature shoe while expanding the setup with better cushion tooling, a more comfortable ride, and slightly better mobility.
These are some of the most athlete-oriented hoop shoes on today's market. The entire shoe focuses on Luka Doncic's famous step-back game action. So, if you have a similar play style and reliable traction, support, and responsive cushion setup is what you value the most - the Jordan Luka 2 is one of the best picks out there.
Now let's take a look at our scores for each category and overall numbers.
