- Things got a little confusing with the Kurfürst-Preußen switch - Blitz here hasn't actually followed PC, and Preußen is now available as a tier 10 premium. Let's check out the differences, and if it's worth going for.

They dont sell it anymore but try find scharnhorst in anime camo.. i dont like this stuff normally but damn that looks nice
I love the German battleships, I sold my Freddy the other day on accident, had to buy it back, lost about 3.5 million credits or something like that, but I don't have the GK yet, that's why I had to get the Freddy back to grind the XP, unbelievable 🤦

I see now....I like Kurfürst still as she still gets Bigger Guns and a better reload time then Preußen. Other than that, Its mostly accurate to PC Version in the long run, just switch the names and now its comparable with PC Version on the German end.
Also compared to PC Version, Teir 4 Ishizuchi and Teir 10 Kabrovosk are premium ships or recently made premuim ships, I am watching you BLITZ.
Terry, your videos always makes my day better, even if I never owned the ship you are reviewing. But sometimes, to Pass Time, I watch your vids and I always learn something new from them. I don't want to over-penetrate here (lol) but I get asked or see questions on wows blitz, and I tell them to watch your vids.
This ship went on sale on the game today and this is the first video I went to.

UPDATE: I was up with the baby at 4 in the morning. Saw this in a sonar sweep. I now have it.
I can confirm EVERYTHING this video claims is true. The guns feel meh. I've used my torps on my own team more than enemies. And carriers focus me out of existence REAL quick.
"Even against a British battleship" as an Englishman I have to say it's both funny and sad the Brits ships in the game (bar carriers and destroyers) have gotten such a repulsive reputation
Got to love how WG have put their own spin on ships that were historically superb.
moreover with the arrival of italian BBs which perform better with british gimmick (stealthy dd-cruiser killer). damn historically, the RN really kick the hell out of regia marina in ww2
@@Failure_Engineering as an Andrea Doria player, I respectfully disagree. British HE absolutely murders everything, including citadels on freaking BBs which is honestly a stupid mechanic. They also set a lot of fires. Brit BBs are still better but Italian BBs are close, one is a long range one, and the other is more medium-close range due to auto secs
16:16 yes the bots can see you in smoke but only if you stay in the middle or near the edge of the smoke. If you lay a smokescreen and then sail out of it, leaving the smoke between you and the bot, you’ll be undetected (at least in my experience😅)

You CAN smoke in Front of bots. They only Spot you if they want to shoot you. So just smoke if there is a closer target to the bot (they prefer shooting the closest targets). I use this when i get a half player half bot macht in my british light cruisers. Works 90% of the time
WG in WOWS is becoming like EA in PVZ2, after half a year you won't be able to see a regular ship because of crowd of all those premium ships

The Kurfürst is free, and I'd say at least on par, if not slightly better, than this one. There's just something satisfying about the punishment the 457s can deliver at close range. I'd prefer to have a bundle available for those who don't like crates as well, but I'm ok with there being a free alternative that is just as good.
Just get GK, and never look back.
On one side I really want this ship because i miss sec overload 2 on GK. But its expensive and really similar to the GK
It's nice, but not that huge of a difference. I think all in all, the GK came out better, even though my initial reaction was otherwise. These 457s with von Hipper's APCS are just glorious.
You are so right about the play style of each server. In the American server we just rush into each other. I have an Asian server account, oh man these guys are CAUTIOUS.
In the Asian/Chinese server. The main standard to judge if a battleship is powerful or not is to compare their ranges, the longer the better. Because there's hardly any gun fight of battleships happened within a 10 km range. 😂
Yamato is the best BB in NA server while Ohio is the one to go in Asian server. 😂
Especially with German BBs, I notice the difference in meta quite a bit. It's not just caution, but even in situations where we _can_ push, I often find that I started with a cruiser next to me, and a minute later he's nowhere to be seen, while I'm suddenly alone out front, getting nuked by the CV.
NA isn't blindly rushing, either, but there's an instilled aggression in top-tier games that is noticeably different, and lends itself more to a diverse playstyle. I have no idea what it's like on EU or RU.
@@FunandGameswithTerry Exactly. Some ships already are pretty difficult to play in the NA server, imagine how harsh the environment would be for them in the ASA server. 😂

Is there any effect (lagging, etc) when changing server? how you overcome that? I really consider myself to changing server. Your comment about asia server at 15:00 and 20:35 can't be more true. Thats also the reason why i often stop grinding cruiser at tier VIII. From that tier everything start ugly and uglier in gameplay wise
Being in Australia, I have pretty crap internet wherever I go :) I don't know the game servers, but assuming that their web servers are on the same hosting, this is my ping right now:
na.wargaming.net - avg. 227ms
asia.wargaming.net - avg 183ms
I usually get yellow/red on NA in-game, and green/yellow on Asia. I don't notice lag on either server from my perspective.
The easiest way for you to tell, before you ask support for a server transfer (IDK if that's even possible), would be to just create a test account on the server you're interested in, and check how well it works for your internet connection.

Thanks for the awesome teamwork! Unfortunately, auto-secondaries are completely unable to hit a target moving towards you, so your AP shells from the left did help :) Took a bit of baiting to convince Jutland to go after me instead.

I like the Italian guns. Goes to show that calibre isn't everything. I'm sorely tempted to spend my scarce blueprints on the RM BB line.
I have a question, is KMS the actual designation for German ships? I was told that, that was something that was made up. Soooo, I just wanted to make sure.
That's actually an interesting question. As far as I know, the German Navy in WW2 (Kriegsmarine, lit. "war navy"), didn't use ship prefixes, but KMS (maybe "Kriegsmarine ship / Schiff?) seems to have been attributed postwar, not sure who invented that, though. I'll have to do some research.
But the Germans would have referred to "Bismarck", not "KMS Bismarck", from what I know.

This Premium German Battleship is Unfair with the Tier8 Odin..
The WG need to release a Triple barrel German Battleship line from T7-T10
Odin has T10 secondaries and torps. You could argue that Scharnhorst, Odin, Pommern and Preußen are the lower calibre more guns variant of the BB line 😉
Tech tree wise, we'll have to see what the German BCs are going to look like, if and when we get them.
Ich hatte mich schon auf die Preußen gefreut . Und dann war da wieder die 2500 Gold Lotterie 🙈 und ich hatte keine Lust mehr . Das Gold spare ich nur dann lieber für die Odin mit historischen Camouflage
Ich habe meine GK mit historischer Camo und von Hipper, das reicht mir :) Es gibt Leute, die das Geld ausgeben wollen - habe ich kein Problem mit. Solange wir kostenlosen Zugang zu einem ebenbürtigen, wenn nicht sogar leicht überlegenen Schiff haben... Eine Smolensk oder Friesland in einer Lotto-Kiste... wobei ich die nicht spielen würde wenn sie mir die umsonst geben XD
@@FunandGameswithTerry ja die GK ist schon super 👍🏻 ich bin ja ein großer Fan der Bismarck. Die gab es letztens als schwarze Version in der Werft für Kupfer usw. Mit eins der besten Schiffe 💪🏻 ja die smolensk ist mir zu leicht gepanzert. Da ist manchmal nach einer Salve der Ofen aus .

Given the generally high level of German engineering skills then (& now) & the importance of torpedoes in submarine warfare in WW2, I am truly surprised by the relatively short range of torpedoes in the game. Is this just the game? Or is it representative of their range in WW2? In your research, have you seen any comments about them.
Ranges, and especially speed of torpedoes in-game are not realistic, but adjusted for game mechanics.
What is true though is that the initial German torpedoes were a bit crap. Range was relatively short, with 5-7.5km, and they were about as reliable as the USN's Mk14s. Dönitz had some choice words about them. Took roughly until '42 to sort the issues out.
In comparison, probably the most advanced torps were used by the IJN, with theoretical ranges up to 40km, although it'd get rather rng-heavy to hit anything at that range. But they did have the best tech at the onset.
Also, I sticking torpedo launchers on battleships had gone out of fashion after WW1, since engagements were fought at much longer ranges, given the larger guns. You wouldn't want to "brawl", since at close range, even destroyer and cruiser calibres can do some serious damage. Just ask the Japanese off Guadalcanal 😉
The blitz Preußen is "literally" the GK from wows pc and vice-versa, with the blitz GK having the guns from the pc Preußen

Yep, good point about the exploit weakness. Although I find at T10 most CVs do know what they're doing, and are circling their torpedo bombers just out of AA range, waiting for me to hit the damage control...

Großer Kurfürst is an amazing ship. I am not even a wee bit interested in getting Preuẞen. She's kinda over rated and over exaggerated ship. Today morning alone, I sunk 3 Preuẞen. 2 while playing in Halland and 1 in Großer Kurfürst.
It's in line with the "triple turrets, lower calibre, torps" design of the German premium line, starting at Scharnhorst. I love T7 and 8, but Pommern already wasn't working as well for me. I think Preußen is a good ship, but given the choice, I'd rather spend the gold on the historical camo for my GK (which I already have). If the 406s would handle like the Odin's guns for the respective tier, it might be a different matter, but the penetration is just too low for my taste.
@@FunandGameswithTerry Tirpitz, Odin and Scharnhorst are great ships to play. GK has 457 mm guns with great AP penetration.
You're absolutely right. I stopped playing with Montana because of low gun calibur. Preuẞen main battery armament is quite weak. Secondary battery armament is same as GK. So, it is not worth to spend enormous amount of gold to gamble with the crates.
Preuẞen may have 4 guns more than the GK. But, in GK even with 8 x 457 mm guns, you'd get more full pens than with 12 X 406 mm Preuẞen guns
@@FunandGameswithTerry IMO, the GK has two weaknesses. Low fire and flooding resistance and poor AA. Preuẞen also has the same two weakness along with poor main battery armament. Preuẞen is basically a nerfed GK.
Things like Midway, Smolensk and Halland etc makes life miserable by setting fires relatively easy and causing flooding.
So basically GK and Preußen switched and Preußen has torps?

Same. It's a good ship, but I've already got the GK all decked out. Rather using my gold for some more historical camos.
Just remember, if you meet one, 6.9km torps 😉

What a silly way to play a thunderer.
And an excellent way of describing how typically things are going on in asian server. That in my opinion reinforces another school of thoughts which says that ships and captains builds can be or should be unique, tailored to suit better how daily games in different servers typically work.
And I am with you Terry. I wont gamble for this ship at all. 100k++ gold for a sure get, what a rip off for something that performs not as good as the tech tree version. Torps are more of a gimmick.
I am still satisfied with how my GK performs, and will continue to play with the ship from time to time.

Yes, in 5.2, Freddy got GK's 420s, and GK got the imaginary 457s. Now Preußen gets the 406s that Freddy had pre-5.2 (although I haven't checked in old footage if they're really exactly the same guns)
The only reason why I'm not getting this ship is because of that fact when dutch cruisers come out officially, I'll have so much fun bombing these to hell. It just has one hell of a fat juicy deck that's screaming to be airstriked.
