As a frequent flyer throughout the west coming in from Alaska, I’d include Portland, Detroit, and San Diego as the nicest airports. Very neat, clean, and pleasant all over. I have no complaints with any areas of them with cleanliness, restaurants, or customer service.
I agree with all
I love Detroit’s Delta terminal! Especially the fountain!
Detroit is VERY nice.
As not only a frequent flyer but also a resident of San Diego, I can second that it is a nice airport. Quite rare for traffic to build up, security is quick, good food options, clean, awesome planespotting, and few delays not caused by other airports being delayed (planes being delayed at the previous airport). The weather is always nice which definitely helps. Flying out of KSAN in a week and a half actually!
@@farmingpotato3372 you live in San Diego? Lucky! I’d kill to have an apartment around Mission Beach or even decent home in Clairmont, but I’m not a millionaire. My brother in law and his wife packed up and moved to Florida last year. They couldn’t take it anymore with the high cost of housing, gas, etc.
Tampa Airport is very, very good! I knew it would be on this list. Its layout is very simple and it's extremely easy to get in there and out of there quickly.
Having parking above the terminal makes it so easy to go from your car to the rest of the airport.
I didn’t see Portland coming as number one, but thoroughly love it. As an Alaskan that travels to the mainland, I’ve absolutely hated Seattle’s airport for so long because it’s crowded, dirty, and most of it badly in need of remodeling. Portland’s airport is open, spacious, unpretentious, very clean, beautiful, and a lot of nice bistro restaurants.
Here's a comparison. To get to PDX's light rail you go through a couple of doors and go down an escalator. To get to Seattle's light rail you go down an escalator, go through baggage claim, go up a second escalator, go across a sky bridge, go a few hundred feet outdoors along the side of a huge parking structure with the cold wind hitting you, then you go up a *third* escalator.
Hey at least I live near SeaTac airport and don’t have to drive 1 hour to get there. I can get to the airport under 20 minutes since it’s right near Des Moines. And the airport isn’t that bad. Although I would prefer the George Bush airport in Houston, I still like SeaTac airport. I do respect your opinion as well.
Great reviews. Loved your video on all these airports. Thanks for sharing. 🙌🙌
I think O'hare is one of the best. I lived 20 minutes from it for years and it was easy to get to and there are always a ton of non-stop flights to almost anywhere. You rarely have to change planes if your home airport is a hub.
it might have a lot of issues if you change planes there.
I was not surprised to see IND start off the list at #10; it is an impressive and convenient airport.
IND is really nice after the new airport terminal opened in 2008. Open, fast to get thru, good TSA, great food court, easy to get into and out of. Before that the old terminal was getting pretty run down.
I go through DIA in Denver about once a year and find it nice to travel through. Security usually takes 15 minutes or less, and the staff is always friendly. Also the place is generally very clean.
The MSP airport has 2 light rail stations to move between the two terminals. It's free to travel between the terminals. The light rail connects to the Mall of America as well.
I am from Tunisia I love to travel America and I am 15 years old
I admit that I am biased since I live within a half hour of PDX. After going through a connecting flight in one of the major hubs, I can feel my blood pressure go down when I arrive at PDX. Friendly staff, great amenities, and easy access. One thing the narrator forgot to mention was the love affair Portland has with the PDX carpet. It was the Grand Marshall of the Rose Festival parade one year. Alas, it eventually had to be replaced, but not before parts of it was made into souvenirs, apparel and footwear. A replacement carpet has now been installed after an exhaustive search to find a similar carpet design. It is not the same, but we will learn to love It nevertheless.
Anyone here after McCarran Airport became Harry Reid Airport?
Yes
I depreciate it! Good list.
I still miss Bethany ( CT) International Airport, with its 2 Quonset Huts, a windsock & a grass field for a runway. No control tower, no TSA. I flew out of there in 1948 with my father at the controls of a low wing monoplane. Of course the 'international' part was just the local nickname.
I live a few miles from SAV it is currently being used to house F4U Corsairs for a movie being filmed near by called Devotion. Don’t forget that Gulfstream is based there as well
Phoenix sky harbor is really good too
Easy to navigate terminals and easy to get into
Also has a sky train that will take you to the light rail station
Awesome to see IND on here the ical code for indy is 'kind', just thought I should share that
I love my airport, PDX. I live ten minutes from it and I'm a frequent business traveler so spend a lot of time there.
What's your favorite spot to grab a bite at PDX?
I have a question for MSP in your opinion. What is a nicer terminal? do you think Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 is nicer?
Woohoo! I love PDX. Such a great airport to fly into and out of... whenever I had family or friends visiting they all liked how easy it is to get in and out of the airport. Great customer service, amazing parking and just a great airport all around.
I love the idea of a barber shop at the airport.
You know people love your airport when they buy the old carpet at outrageous prices!
@@reedermh I o
Onkkkkkn
Yeah
T F Green is the easiest airport to deal with. It takes you 5 minutes in TSA and your gate is now further than a few minutes walk. Baggage check is super close to where you exit your flight and the parking lot. Plus it's 10 minutes from my house.
Definitely been to McCarren in Las Vegas. I LOVE Vegas
Having been to and through PDX there's one thing to say: The Carpet is World Famous. Also, for weary International travelers, it is a God Send. Been through JFK, SEA, LAX (and there's a real good reason that airport is ranked last), and ORD, clearing customs and INS with animals was a breeze.
I was at the Minneapolis/St.Paul airport earlier this month, it was ok and I did experience a delay that caused me to miss my connecting flight in Charolette to Philadelphia. American Airlines was accommodating though, they did get me to Philadelphia and paid for a hotel room for me until my flight out of Philadelphia to Watertown,NY the next day.
With the short staff of airlines these days, that's a pretty sweet deal!
I remember we had work assignments in Sarasota and I flew into that airport. My coworkers who flew into Tampa said it's really nice and they recommended it which isn't something you hear a lot due to the amount of travel and bad airports we go through. I'm happy I fly out of San Antonio, but yeah I've seen the best and worst of many airports in the U.S. John Wayne lowkey pretty decent for example
I'm surprised SAT isn't on this list then I realized this video is 3 years old lol
The principle airport in Northwest Arkansas is Northwest Arkansas National Airport ( XNA). It's an excellent terminal.
I flew in and out of T F Green (Providence) in 2001 and 2008. Both times I intentionally rented a car and drove to my destination near Bridgport CT, which is about 35 miles further away than New York's JFK. Three guesses why. The first time I arrived was on August 9, 2001. It was 100 degrees F on that day, the hottest day of 2001.
The MKE Mitchell International in Milwaukee Wisconsin is excellent.
Ontario,Ca. Is a great airport. I go there or to Burbank. Did LAX once. Never again!
But both of these Airports are further away from the major Attractions in LA!
knew MSP would be on this list. i'm surprised CLT (Charlotte, NC) wasn't. nice list, though!
I come from Colorado, Littleton Specifically. What do you think about Denver International Airport?
Denver is shiny and new and the light rail that goes downtown is convenient. However it is really big and requires a lot of walking and it has to deal with a lot of snow delays in winter
I agree.
Love the conspiracy theories around it! Worth Googling... also, the Tapas Sky Bar is a swell place to kill a few hours!
Cool! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I was there one night and a parade of robed individuals walked through leading indiana people to a hidden pentagram like on DOOM
LOVE PDX!!! You need to also give them big kudos for their amazingly efficient parking garages with green lights above empty car stalls and on-going tally of cars on each level. I always brag about their easy parking at PDX!!! On top of all that, I used to live near PDX for 43 years and always enjoyed picking up and taking family there!! Yayyyy Portland and PDX!!! ;o)
L
Great airport
I wish TPA did this.
Having lived across the river in Vancouver from Portland they are constantly doing construction and improvements on Portland International Airport! I love flying in and out of their just a user friendly gorgeous airport 👍
STL is an underrated airport. Their Southwest terminal is amazing
Wtf are you smoking? STL is easily my least fav airport in the country and I fly southwest almost exclusively. What could you possibly like about it?
The airport in Vegas is awesome. It's huge!
I actually think that LGA will be able to make this list once every new terminal is done, the old ones are gone, and the construction is over.
Agreed! The recently upgraded Terminal B is LUX.
@@brain-drain Yeo! I can’t wait to see the new A gates at EWR!😸
I live I Portland and never thought much of the airport until I went to the Denver without a phone, I was looking for the entertainment centers that pdx has but there are literally none, not to mention it’s huge asf😂pdx and oregon just in General is the hidden gem of America…like a perfect middle ground if you like both nature and city
I'm in Baltimore/Washington Airport area. I fly out and in quite a bit. Bwi is small, which is helpful. It's still serves international flights. But there are a few weaknesses. One of my biggest peeves is it isn't especially clean. It just isn't. Oh! and TSA sux at BWI. They're friendly enough. Just sorta sloppy. These are my most recent experience, in the past 5 years or so.
Tampa International is my new fav. It's like a small city.
Can't you fly out of Dulles?
Can't beat gambling at the airport haha
And smoking.
Problem at LAS is nobody bothers to read which baggage claim to use. So they end up on the wrong side of the airport.
Not to mention the utter disrespect passengers have for wheelchair users. Lost track of how many times an agent has to stop suddenly because some idiot decides the best way to ask for directions is to deliberately step in front of a moving wheelchair being pushed by an agent
I'm from NY so without even watching I know my locals don't have a prayer
Ha! What do you make of ISP or HPN? Not bad for suburban airports!
Man i'm surprised i didn't see DTW on the list
idk if the tampa airport changed. but I lived in flordia and the tampa airport was not clean. It was still enjoyable. top 3 favorite airports.
I don't know how long it's been since you have been there, but it's top notch as the video points out. They've improved and added on a great deal over the last several years and are not finished.
Kinda bummed to not see CLT on the list. If you go there right now, you'll be in the middle of a massive renovation, but it's a nice airport. It's not over-crowded, the TSA line isn't super-long, and there are nice shopping/dining options. The vast majority of the traffic is from people connecting to other flights, and those folks have a number of nice options to use their wait time.
CLT is a great airport! Especially if you're dining on a budget. They have TWO Auntie Anne's, TWO Bojangles, TWO Burger Kings, TWO Cinnabons, TWO Jamba Juices, at least ELEVEN Starbucks, and a bunch of sit down spots. The lounge options are even better now with the Centurion Lounge between Concourses D and E. Absolutely among the better places to be delayed.
CHT is the worst for layovers less than an hour. I missed the flight because of the damn terminals.
Bradley International (Hartford/Springfield) is a great airport! Usually Confe Naste has it ranked as one of the best. Second busiest airport in New England.
Ooooh! Good to know! We’re flying out of this airport this Sunday, and a week later flying back out.
honorable mentions: Detroit metropolitan international airport
Yes, indeed! Along with Portland and San Diego, it’s the nicest and best I’ve seen. 2 years ago flying down to Texas to see my family, I had a stopover there. 7 a.m. at a bar and grill people drinking and in a nice place, LOL.
Ttdtt22lfou
I was watching this at the Indianapolis airport
If you're in Rogers, AR, fly out of Northwest Arkansas National Airport ( XNA )!
Tampa is great! Easy dedicated Frwy exit. Right to the parking/drop off.
I live in Bennington Nebraska and I fly out of Omaha’s eppley airfield
I've been to IND the most out of all (HOOSIER ALERT), My flights from there were to BOS, PVD, EWR, BWI, ORF, ORD, IAH, CWL, BFS, EDI, and YXU.
Detroit isn't the place you want to be, but DTW located in Romulus is the best. When we fly we normally go to crappy airports, KC, Denver, Tampa, Orlando. Internationally, CDG and LRH are nice, and huge. Checking in at LHR sucks though.
I am from Tunisia I love to travel America and I am 15 years old how do i travel
Again?
how about best/worst airports for a layover list? You can ignore parking and transportation. Size and ease of getting between gates is a big deal.
LAX was the worst I experienced. I had to leave the secure area, go outside to another terminal, then go back through security. At least the weather outside was nice.
Sad to see KATL not here. From my experience its clean, efficient (The design is amazing) and it has its bright spots.
Also KMCO. Both Orlando and Atlanta traffic can be avoided (For Orlando, FL-417 and FL-528 Both serve as points for entry. Please be aware that 528 and 417 are toll roads. Also stay away from 436 north)
my favorite airports are SLC and RSW lol
How about John Wayne airport (SNA)
Detroit’s delta terminals are simply fantastic. Glad that’s my home airport
Yes. DTW is very nice.
wait what is terminal G?
Top 10.
10. Indianapolis
9. Anchorage
8. Savannah
7. Las Vegas
6. Minneapolis- saint Paul
5. Tampa
4. T.T green airport
3. Hollywood
2. Jackson hole
And 1. Portland
#10 "Why are you going to Indianapolis, Bill?"
For nothing 🤦♀️
Indy 500!
Most are spot on. I'm disappointed not to see SLC, Salt Lake City. Those who haven't been there in the last year and a half haven't seen SLC! The city has transformed this airport into a spectacular airport.
If I lived another century I still would never willingly go to Minnesota
Minnesota has a lot of great food and culture actually!
There is no way hollywood has short lines!
Just my luck. Just watched both the 10 worst and 10 best lists. I've been through 8 of the 10 worst airports (and agree with those rankings) but only 4 of the top 10.
Not a whole lot in Indianapolis, West Virssippi unless you're buying meth, stealing kids or ghost hunting
JAC is the most beautiful airport on the planet. If you have never been... It's a must-see.

Mccarran needs an upgrade
They replaced Terminal 2 with Terminal 3.
PDX should have been on the list! It is beautiful and functional. Even the TSA people are much friendlier than at most other airports.
It is on the list.
Not only is it on the list, it’s number one!
IND is terrific. \
I didn’t see SFO in the rankings
Disagree with: Indianapolis;if changing planes) as almost all food options were OUTSIDE of TSA. And MSP, poor design, changing planes required a mile or so walk-15 minutes anyhow.
Wholeheartedly agree with most others on the list.
Elk in Alaska??? C’mon guy.
Yay my little local airport made the list and not only is it in the top five is in the top four number for Who knew that Australian Island is actually has something going for a state and thank you for letting the non-locals know that in donut says province is actually Warwick most people don’t know that thank you and I’ve been places where people think the state of Rhode Island public Long Island New York or something like do they not teach geography anymore think I’ve also heard from people who are old enough to be my parents subscribe parents of those as well but just the little state in the union has the fourth best airport at least we’ve got something going for us all of the Newport
😩 “ JUDGE FOR YOURSELVES!…. The flaw with ‘ best ’ & ‘ worst’ rankings is the often a subjective bias and unscientific assessments. Why? A myriad of factors often skew favorable and unfavorable rankings. Nothing against Either of these great airports. However, these same ones featured can just as easily be at or near the bottom in a different assessment. Most online and published rankings are imperfect for a variety of factors. Therefore, it’s best to personally judge any place for Yourselves! ”
We agree! It will always be based off of part research and part writer opinion but we try to keep it as factual as possible!

Not that long of a ride to Massachusetts
“2022”
Portland is undergoing massive remodeling. A huge maze to get to gate. Total PAIN IN THE BUTT right now
Yeah, but when it’s completed in 2025, it’ll be effing amazing!
There's no Terminal G at MSP, Concourse G
ATW is the best aiport.. simply cuz there's never a line @ TSA ! :-)
I live in PDX. It’s the best airport. My wife and I and kids travel a lot. The worst airport is Phoenix.
You forgot RDU!
Maui Airport #1 on planet Earth maybe even the whole galaxy.
Bruh usa have 13,513 airports
How come Orlando International Airport is not on the list?
Honestly the escalator up to the MCO Chili's deserves its own video.
I was at the Orlando AP for only a short time, but I found much help getting around the place. I'd like to go to SAV too since there's no more trains going there from Atlanta. I miss the Nancy Hanks, but my first trip to Orlando and back on Air Tran (now SW) went well in '14. Do why isn't Hartsfield-Jackson Airport here? I thought it was rated #1 not too long ago!
LAS? Nope nope nope. TSA is horrible. And it’s too busy.
Yay MSP! I would put that #1. I always fly through there. They have puppies to pet there, too.
Camera and action on your mobile I can see you and I can hear you
Nothing wrong with bringing food on planes.
Ok ( T ) ❤. Just say I was at an airport ready to board a flight to the U.S. Which airport do I fly to for you to meet me ?
Yes. I would like to know.....hypothetically. 🛩
Say bruh wtf my peanuts and 7 up at?
for MSP
Where's PHX?
In AZRICK. Sorry, we had to. . . You're right-- PHX is solid. America's Friendliest Airport ® has Travel Tunes which promotes local musicians and that Terminal Four Wendy's is a reliable lifesaver as everything else around closes pretty early.
MSP, are you kidding? You need a guide service to find your rent a car.
Burbank is horrible. Old, long security lines, and cramped. The only thing that is convenient is that I have family 10-minutes away in Van Nuys.
i like you
How come LAX, JFK, and O’Hare are not on this list? The customer service is great and they never have delays or flight cancellations. 🤭
You have to be kidding about LAX - it has to be the worst airport in the world. I purposely avoid flying through LA due to LAX. I'd rather fly through San Francisco.
Ha u the worse to suggest these airports 😂
@@bing3253 stupid
Sarcasm?
@charles sutton KATL isn't as bad as most people think it is. The traffic in Atlanta is horrible. But if you know the roads its actually quite easy to avoid. Like Georgia highway 6.
Cool. $#@
Clickbait.
Well....all usa airports are sub standard.
Go to Portland, San Diego, or Detroit. They’re the best I’ve seen and the cleanest.
New Orleans's new Louis Armstrong International is a helluva of an improvement over the old Terminal!
Salt Lake City is a nice airport, too, but the Mormon culture has control of it. As far as I know, they have no restaurants with alcoholic beverages.
I was there yesterday. Actually, I fly into SLC several times each month. There are several pub/brewery style restaurants that serve alcohol. The thing I don't like about SLC is the looooong walk between terminals.
I'm not Mormon. But being Diabetic, I don't drink anyway.
I love SLC, in and out
@@jimoconnor6382 I love the fact they literally have 10 different ski resorts to choose from within 50 miles of the city!
