    Good information, about deer coming back. Not only do they avoid the small area. There attention Is more focused on your, movement, smell, noise

    Where I hunt in Wisconsin when I bump a buck the try and make a J or C to double back. The C arc is usually a couple hundred yards to a mile in length. They usually end up within a couple hundred yards to a 1/4 mile of where you bump them ideally where they have a view of the bed they were in. Just my experience in a 75% woods 25% Ag field.

      they will also typically look at the old bed where they can use their nose.

      It depends on whether they are truly wild deer or half tamed farm deer. Bump a mature buck on public he's leaving the country. Even the does on public here are gone after the first few weeks of firearms.

    Yall got a picture of GA on the wall what about some "data" from GA?
    Have nice 10 point on one of two cameras almost every night, 10 pm hour and 5 am hour. Sometimes he's on the same camera both times sometimes he's at one one time and the other the other time. This past November the 13th he showed up on one camera where i sit the most about 45 minutes after daylight (I used to take the first two weeks of November off to hunt but at a fairly new job so building up my vacation time) and of course I was at work. Even before bow season started he was nocturnal all the time. So what's up with that?

    • @MrSquidwardGames
      @MrSquidwardGames Месяц назад

      This winter work backwards from your camera and place a few cameras at different trails, scrapes, or pinches he might come from. He's either bedded farther away and your just to far out from him or he's staying in a safe spot until closer to dark. Either way with the extra info you can set up on him next year if you don't get him this year

    Southern NYS private land vey little hunting pressure our bucks disappear become nocturnal or where ever they go from Nov 19 - Dec 10 all by themselves, Its like there is no deer in the woods. What's up with that.

      @troybrake5686 Месяц назад

      Shifting back to there hidy holes to rest and eat to gear up for second rut, most deer anyway in KY most are doing this now, I had a giant 10 show up Nov 29th and he has not been there all of Oct and Nov that I have seen but I had him all last Dec and Jan. So I'm guessing I'm in his after rut spot! It's thick, steep and loaded with acorns and very few other deer, I probably have more bucks there than does and it's very low pressure so it's probably his winter sanctuary, he's at least 6 yrs old. The other bucks have been there and never left but not him, but they are young deer.

  • @WolfPackOutdoors211

    On half tamed farm deer yes i can see this. However, fully mature deer on public land wouldnt survive to get big by coming back to an area they keep seeing danger. All of these studies are done on farms where they are fed etc.

    • @thesouthernoutdoorsmen
      @thesouthernoutdoorsmen  25 дней назад +2

  • @jacoblogsdon2850
    @jacoblogsdon2850 Месяц назад +3

    This all depends on the level of "bump". If they hear you, wind you, see you, and you are walking through and bump, then this info could apply. If you "bump" a deer in a more invasive way. While hanging a set, hanging a camera, still hunting, or other ways that are depositing more volumes of scent and causing more disturbance. There is a good chance that buck wont come back. If he does hes going to be very cautious and circle downwind to make sure he knows you're not there.

    • @tylertrotter2141
      @tylertrotter2141 Месяц назад +3

      Well I don’t know what could be more invasive than a pack of redbones chasing them for miles and the deer still bed in the same spot.

Me and my brother bow hunt once and shoot one of the bucks. We go in and recover the buck. From that day on no more bucks and rarely a doe? It's the craziest thing. We get one shot and that's it

    I bumped a buck on a drive and pushed him west a half a mile and he came back around with me tracking him. I jumped him again shot him in the front leg. I then tracked him a 2 more miles and then lost his track in the dark. Then I was lost in the dark for hours. The next after noon we drove the same area and shot this buck with in yards of where I bumped the day before. My uncle shot him ! I was pushing him again ! True story on Neebish island Michigan. We have 1000 acres on the south end with it being a hunting club.

      If they actually wanted you to fill tags, we wouldn't have endless rules and nonsense. WA they allow you to hunt in units that don't have the game you're hunting. Ones that do, it's special draw for 15 to 20 years before you can have a chance at actually having a chance.

      I live in an area in Arkansas with EXTREME dog pressure during modern gun season. I bow hunt exclusively so it's very frustrating if you don't get a nice buck before gun starts. I have however, noticed that the bedding areas I hunt before the dogs get going still contain deer after being flushed by dogs day after day. They're much more edgy and mostly nocturnal but they are still there
