A cheap guitar will tend to sound better through a good amp than a good guitar through a cheap amp. But it has to be said that very good amps are merciless at exposing the flaws of cheap instruments. There's a limit to how much you can spend before the cheaper component becomes the limiting factor. Spend the money on lessons instead.
@@jjccllgg LOL the man is playing an original pre-CBS 1963 "brownface" Fender vibroverb in mint condition which is worth about $6800USD (worth considerably more than thag due to where he lives as well), if you've got to have one piece of equipment that costs a lot of money the amp is where you spend it first....
Hi, I bought one and I must say that it is very comfortable and light. Mine is white with black pickguard and pickups (released this way due to a factory error). It's very versatile and I don't miss a humbucking. Really nice! Congratulations for a truly exciting performance.
Thank you Greg for shutting every naysayer against the LP SL down. The artist, his interpretation, and the tool he chooses to paint with sound, that's music.
Saw this guitar at Guitar Center last week. Picked it up but didn't play it plugged in. Very light weight and bolt on neck. Didn't think much of it but man it sounds good when Gregor plays it. It proves it's mostly the player that makes a guitar sound good and the rest amp and guitar. Who'd think even a good player could get a good sound out of this and he does.
Love it, sounds like an up tempo brothers in arms! That guitar is lovely, the neck pickup sounds beautiful. I'd never believe it is £100. Great playing as ever.
Thanks for the video here, you play GREAT Brother, I bought 2 of these the one you have here, and sunburst one, for the money, $99 Bucks, and you know how to set up a guitar, you cannot beat them, they can sound like $ 3000 dollar Gibson, I love mine, Rock on, Cousin Figel
I have one in that colour. Brought in a black friday deal for £69. I have around 30 guitars including expensive gibsons and fenders. I wasn't expecting much. I was wrong it sounds and plays great. I have even gigged with it. It is a serious guitar and as good as my Gibson melody maker. Amazing value.
amazing , i been geting rid of expensive guitars but i will not get rid of my SL epiphone.. its just so confortable to play and the sound really takes you were you need to go.
Just picked one upon Reverb yesterday...$70 (Incl Shpp.)...I'm 68 YO and my Ash body Ibanez just feels REALLY heavy these days...hoping this LP comes in around 6.5 LBS...also hope the fretwork is decent...stay tuned!!!
I will only say my opinion ..for all those who make a serious decision to learn to play this instrument, one thing is certain, every guitar produces a sound in accordance with its performance, and this is called the color of the sound, SO THERE IS NO GOOD COLOR OR BAD COLOR..THERE IS ONE THAT YOU LIKE....OR NOT, SO THERE IS NO GOOD OR BAD GUITAR?! ALL GUITARS ARE LIKE WOMEN, they suit some and some don't... with a good amplifier and a good processor, I use the AX3000G KORG on my recordings, you can get a good sound, let's say this Epiphone SL guitar.. or I use Flight (Slovenian manufacturer, shape Les Paul) I also use Ibanez Gio GRG 121, also Stagg shape Stratocaster, produced in 1995, they all sound great, depending on the purpose for which song I want to use them. All guitars has a great sound and with good parameters it can be used as a professional instrument , best regards from Edy ..and all the best in your future work
My GF got one of these cheap aqua Epi axes for like the price of two pizzas. Its not the best guitar, but what the heck, she is having a blast with it and her Orange amp.
I set up the the guitar with thicker strings, raised the string action, added some Reverb, switched on my Okko Diablo Overdrive, mild treble setting on my Fender tube amp. …. And did some years spend with practising on guitar .. not to forget …-;)
@@jerryb4716 ok… the guitar I had needs a setup, for sure. It does not sound good with the stock 09th strings. But in any case: It is still a 99,- Guitar.., but with my OKKo, a good amp and some Reverb I've got a decent sound out of it - as you can hear it in the video wich is captuered live. The volume and the gain was pushed a little bit also on the Okko Diablo GH, because these pickups do not have too much power. But all in all you can get a special twangy sound out of it
that sounded like shit and I love you and your channel....EVEN THOUGH YOU USED A 3000 DOLLAR RIG that was small tiny and crappie...guitar should be free
Echt. Ich hab die zurück geschickt
Marco, ich weiß genau was Du meinst.
@@obscurerails Agreed. Mines is Vintage Sunburst, and with telecaster chrome knobs, it looks great. Some I read were lemons, dogs in the first years of production. My SL is far from it, in fact, the complete opposite. Frets are perfect, no spout or sharp edges. Using locking method of strings guitars, the tuners work perfectly, the wraparound bridge as well (very close on the intonation too, amazing) and the pickups, when adjusted sound excellent. Very much like a Telecaster, except 24.75 scale and wrap-around bridge, which ot me is an awesome concept.
Well it's actually based on a '59 / '60 Gibson Melody Maker, So if people think that was an ugly guitar, then I guess there's no accounting for some people's taste. Personally I'm not a fan of the solid colour versions, but the Vintage Burst or Cherry Burst ones look as nice as any LP Jr or LP Special I've ever seen.
Proof, if you needed it, that it's about the player, not the instrument.
Paul B if you're gonna spend lots of money on a piece of equipment, spend it on the amp...

Great looking guitar sounds awesome as well.

what a wonderful playing ! great !
Ive been playing many years .Greg is a great player and always seems to have fun .
Excelente! Un placer escuchar su interpretación. Great!
Ceramic magnet pick ups. Love ceramic in pick ups and speaker magnets. Beautiful phrasing always helps.
Sounds awesome ! It sounds kind of like a Telecaster and these are cheap.
Excellent demonstration, Thank you.
Excellent playing! You make that 99 dollar guitar sound like a 5,000.00 Gibson Standard Les Paul! Goes to show its not the guitar, its the player
It's also the $2000 amp.
@@NostalgiaforInfinity well, then same thing will apply with the expensive guitars then, i.e. giving all the credit to the amp.

Восхитительно
Muy bonito sonido.Todo está en ti Greg...en este caso una guitarra barata sonando a gloria.
Exhibit A for why an inexpensive guitar combined with an expensive amp it best. Of course, player skill contributes greatly.
Cool to have epiphone single coils in a short scale guitar.
SENSACIONAL!!!
The neck pickup its quite decent
brilliant playin bruzz

What model of guitar are you playing in this video?
Очень классно. ЗдОрово.
OK, sold
How is the SL playability? Its gets bad reviews here and there. What you say?
it is definetly harder to play as a proper Gibson, tiny frets, slim neck. Not a joy - but hey.... 99,- bucks...
Is this guitar a pacific blue or a turquoise?
