Well hi Katie my love! And i love the yellow Trewavasae too! looks a bit like bart simpson lol......I love your vids....You always cheer me up. You should see my fish room! My home's whole first floor is jammed packed with fish tanks everywhere.....even my living room! lol
Hahaha, it does actually, maybe I should call her Bart!! And thank you so much, that's so nice to hear :) That's awesome, I can't wait until I have a bigger place and can have more tanks!
Thank you for this video. This was very helpful. I am going to get more African peacocks and I now know that I need to have more than one to put in my tank. I do have some problems with my tank I lost a couple of fish. But i am trying my best. Thank you again.
Your correct with the bonding I have a predator hap tank no rock nothing but aragonite substrate of the night when the light is out they school together on the bottom
@@Kaityscichlids you named the fish food I was talking about..The Flowerhorn, fishfood for color makes them look awesome..& the fish love it…when my fish get bigger, im feeding them that, it brings out all there colors….your fish got A great home with you, & your right’ you are Supposed to quarantine new fish… to protect the ones you already have… great Job Ms Kaity… hope to see on the next vid..😀❤️✌🏾
Thank you :) The main thing is want to try to match the water parameters of the water they're in to be as close as possible to the parameters of the new tank. If it's a big difference, you can use a method called drip acclimation
Couldn't have said that better myself. Great tips! If you have a one-specie tank, I recommend adding new fish when they are small. If you have full-grown African cichlids in your tank, they don't seem to bother the new ones if they are smaller. Guess that they don't see them as a threat.
Malawi's will dig and sweep the substrate for one reason, Breeding ground! When you set up a Malawi tank, it is important to fix your rockwork first then add your preferred substrate
What is the fish called with red top and bottom fins, light blue body with 3 gray stripes, and yellow tail? I’m obsessed and I told myself NO more fish 😂
I find African Cichlids are pretty calm fish in general. I think having lots of them, keeping a routine for feeding and water changes, and good water quality are all factors that help :)
I made a mistake.. i added a single big polleni cichlid to the established mbuna tank.. now its been harassed by auratus, trewavasai ob. 😔 Dont know what to do.
I make sure I feed them pellets that have both protein and algae in them, along with pellets that are algae/kelp only, and avoid feeding them bloodworms. I will feed brine shrimp very rarely, but I haven't had any issues doing it this way
I donno how u r managing to keep single specimens of these extremely agressive mbunas with ur peacocks and haps…i had a 300G with a similar stocking as urs eith mostly peacocks and haps and few mbunas….had to get rid of the trewavasea, fuelleborni, kennyi… and u still keep a bumblebee in there😕…in my case it was fine for 3-4 months then the rampage begun…

Very true!!
You should name him Twinkie!!!!
Amazing tank ! Is there a reason to have such a thick layer of sand ?
Thank you! It is mostly because the African Cichlids like to dig in the substrate, and also to help diffuse the weight of the heavy rocks
Malawi's will dig and sweep the substrate for one reason,
Breeding ground!
When you set up a Malawi tank, it is important to fix your rockwork first then add your preferred substrate

🤞👋👌👍
How many Mbuna are in that tank?
First
When I add new fish. i rearrange the aquascape that way their territory changes and they are not agressive towards to the new fish so it works
With Malawi's you overstock..Keep your aquascape And keep your hands out of the water😀
How do you make your fish very calm?
I find African Cichlids are pretty calm fish in general. I think having lots of them, keeping a routine for feeding and water changes, and good water quality are all factors that help :)
@@Kaityscichlids my cichlid looks very wild, and they always asking for food. I'm afraid to give a lot of food because it will cause them bloat :(
Good morning

Hello friends I am from India and you?
How long your tank? Say me by inches. And filter size with which media used and how many fish in the tank?
Hello! I'm from Australia 😊 My tank is 6ft which is 72 inches long, it has about 25 fish, and I've got two Fluval FX6 canister filters on it
Thanks for reply
6ft / how? And glass thickness. You bought it or made it?
I have seen your aquarium every day and I love it very much because it is wonderful. Aquarium in my house since 1977 but never like it
I made a mistake.. i added a single big polleni cichlid to the established mbuna tank.. now its been harassed by auratus, trewavasai ob. 😔 Dont know what to do.
Oh no!! That's the worst :( Hopefully if there's enough space they'll settle down
There is a lot of a space… maybe i will try to take out the auratus.. hes the main culprit.
Have a question, with the mix of peacocks and mbuna do you worry about your mbuna developing Malawi bloat from high protein intake? Thanks
I make sure I feed them pellets that have both protein and algae in them, along with pellets that are algae/kelp only, and avoid feeding them bloodworms. I will feed brine shrimp very rarely, but I haven't had any issues doing it this way
Put background black

I don't think you need anymore in that tank, what you need is a Boyfriend
Fish are more interesting 🤣
When you quarantine for 2 weeks how do you know if they have a disease or not?
