@@acetagx I have had my own experience there that was so terrifying I will never go back. If I have to attend funerals I'm in and out. It's also well documented that it haunted. Plenty of vidoes on RUclips about it and stories handed down. There's something evil there.
In the 1930s during the depression , my old man lived in Lidcombe in a street that backed on to Rookwood. They used it a their playground, they would also wait until Chinese funerals were over and take the food that was left there as offerings.
ive been to this cemetery couple time. The old graves is beautiful yet mysterious to look at but the bigger modern kerb or monumental headstones graves just seem ugly. Gives me a headache just walking through and looking at these headstones just placed together like slabs of granite
There is so many paupers graves ,they put multiple bodies in them ,sad to think people could pay for their loved ones in a proper site ,not even a little tombstone😢😢
The old saying I'm as Crook as Rookwood lol

I miss my Dad alot , he buried at Rookwood cemetery.
I live about 2 km away from the cemetery and it's a really beautiful place.
Beautiful? It's one of the most haunted places in Sydney! It's dangerous.
@@jessiimamii5113 why do you think it's haunted?

@@jessiimamii5113 might be my great uncles sense of humor, he was buried there
No mention of the graveyard established where Town Hall is now built? I know it wasn't there for long but it should get a mention.
My long gone mother would say when ill “ crook as Rookwood”
A lot of my family are in Rookwood
Very interesting but would of loved it to go longer
wow still looks nice
Only problem with rookwood cemetery is that even with a map, it's a bloody pain in the arse to navigate.

Rook wood because of all the crows in the wooded area back in 19th century & still to this day
