The worlds largest oyster festival is held right there in Mt. Pleasant at the Boone Hall Plantation each year end of Jan/beginning of Feb. we stay at that KOA every year for that event. 80,000 lbs of oysters shucked each year. It’s amazing. Put it in your bucket list.
Thanks for sharing your adventures with us. There a few restaurants that are not the usual tourists traps of the area. Swing and Swine BBQ restaurant in Mount Pleasant on the Wando River, and the Boat House is the other restaurant.
I was born there in 1962 on the navy base. Returned several times between my dad's enlistments for a few years at a time. Aside from the Battery and a few other areas, it's difficult to recognize because of the growth. It's only pricey in the tourist spots. Tons of fun stuff to do year round and yes it gets cold AF in the winter.
Perfect oysters don't need anything on them at all. Only condiment that is acceptable is a bit of hot sauce on it. Westbrook and Edmund's Oast are the 2 best breweries in the area, bar none. One Claw, Enchantment Under the Sea, Key Lime Pie Gosa, and White Thai are probably the best beers available in the area. Very good video showing off some of the treasures of the area.
lol the only decent restaurant you guys hit up was Leon's and it's been slipping for years. Next time try FIG, Chez Nous, Lenoir, Leyla, Cafe Felix... Outside of downtown you have Lewis' and Swig n Swine barbecue, or one of my favorite restaurants in the world called Jackrabbit Filly. Near JF there's also a couple great wine bars and a seafood place I recommend called 3 Sirens.
Those are all good suggestions. I’d pass on Swig and Swine, if you’re already going to Lewis and I’d add Malagon. Westbrook is solid but more of an upper mid tier brewery in CHS. Next time Charles Towne Fermentory, Munkle, Bevi Bene should be top of list and if you’re craving vibes, Holy City is perfect on the marsh with a massive field, similar to Firefly, but overlooking the water. “It’s a vibe.”
Let's be honest, from Edisto to McClellanville, Summerville to Moncks Corner, and all points between there are so many amazing, beautiful, historic sites, parks, gardens, plantations, buildings, museums, bars, restaurants, etc. that you could spend 3 or 4 months in the Charleston area and eat/drink somewhere different every day for lunch and dinner and still not see and do everything of interest or historic import. It would take more than a month just for downtown. Even West Ashley, Johns Island, Folly, Mount P, Park Circle, etc. have tons to see, do, and EAT. Even on the fringe there is Sweatman's BBQ, Santee State Park, a killer little seafood restaurant in Santee, Beidler Forest, Bushy Park, etc. etc. etc. It's pretty surreal actually. Imagine if you also want to see art galleries, antique stores, etc. ?
I was a sous chef at leons for 2 years before going to a place in Mount Pleasant. That chicken is so simple yet good. If you want the recipe just holler
I went through basic training at Fort Jackson in Columbia North Carolina in the months of May thru July. I then went on to Fort Sam Huston Texas. Gotta love (NOT) the heat and humidity on the hair. Also, Olivia, I experienced the sMe beads of sweat rolling down my belly. Because of the ant situation, I would think it was ants and they bite.
I'm 18 young from England and Australia what do you recommend doing there I would like to visit I found south carolina from a show called Outer Banks im a big fishing lover and food and saw how cool the place is
You need to check out Travelers rest in Greenville south Carolina it's at the mountains no ocean but definitely not humid like Charleston it's 3 1/2 hours west from Charleston
A great video You two are great. fu n I live in Fl and I think it might be cooler here than where you are. I do want to go to Charleston one of these days. Greats Eats.
Y’all had me salivating! Of course you ate only the skin Olivia……best part😂 Don’t think you’re gonna make it as shrimpers but Your video production skills rock!! Love how you continue to be yourselves!😎
Thanks for such good info - food, drinks, destination, $-$$$ 👍 I lol 😂 so many times- I love that you guys keep it real!! Put a cracka on that dude 😂 ❤️❤️❤️your channel 💃🏼🕺🏼
I also don’t know if you know of the Netflix series OBX but I help teach the actors how to operate a boat and throw a cast net at the same dock you were at! Just some cool retrospective!
That’s in the plans at some point! We’ve heard amazing things about West Virginia but might have to do it next year. We’re trying to make it west before winter 🥶 cheers TJ, thanks for those suggestions!
I’ve lived in Charlotte, currently a Charleston resident and Southern Florida. When ppl complain of the humidity here in the summer, I laugh in Floridian 😂 it’s like winter time, truly.
Hey Kyle! We had no choice with timing but still had a great time! But to your point, if you have the choice I agree with you best outside of those months! Cheers!
I live in eastern NC and have been here for 10 years. I’m SO ready to move back to the Midwest due this terrible humility. I walked 10 steps from my AC’d car to the house and was drenched in sweat 😓
Staying at the KOA and not going to seewee restaurant was a huge mistake. All that trendy shit downtown is just that. Seewee still has outside bathrooms😂🤣. The food is divine. The majority of shrimp downtown and on Shem's creek isn't even from Charleston smfh.
Loving on Charleston...dislike on everything from 1992 foreword. Film, go to jail unless you're wealthy and aristocratic. Loved it gay at 22. Got arrested for losing my gay virginity. Moved to California in 92. San Francisco is the best!
You guys have a great show but that angle oaktree was on a plantation and slaves were hung from that tree so Charleston is not a destination for many blacks just FYI
SC was one of the worst vacation destinations I have ever been to. The climate is nothing but gross, the food isn’t great. I just wanted to leave it, once I left I was happy! Say no to SC

July and August are often called, “the dog days of summer,” here in the South. Freaking brutal!! Especially for those that aren’t used to it.

Love the video I'm from charleston born and raised since 87 I drive big truck downtown every day love our city
Beautiful place to live, that’s for sure. Cheers Kyle

😂😂😂I’m still on the “swamp ass “part. Just found your channel I subscribed thank you too funny😂
Shem Creek is the spot to go to fr. It's so much to do put there. I recommend actually getting on the water with a paddleboard or canoe

Just a fantastic and detailed recap of things to do and eat in Charleston, SC. Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much guys
Loved seeing you tour around my hometown! She's a great city!
Florida is also very humid. Although I will say I will not miss the cold Wisconsin winters.
I’m sure those winters are pretty tough, Florida definitely felt a bit more humid..
I was a sous chef at leons for 2 years before going to a place in Mount Pleasant. That chicken is so simple yet good. If you want the recipe just holler
We visited Leon's yesterday and ordered the exact same food. It was everything we expected. Awesome meal! Thank you for this video.

You shouldn't skip by West Virginia. Tons of great places to put that camper. Try Lewisburg and the New River Gorge National Park.

So good Ann! We found another Jeni’s in Nashville too, delicious! Love the salted caramel too! 🤤
Never understand why people come to Charleston, July through September. The weather the rest of the year is Devine.

Crab and rice. Lol not local. Do a low country boil. Get some crawfish I did one last week. (Ik they’re out of season but I have frozen ones)
Just gonna say for those who visit Charleston, I wouldn’t spend to much time in that Shem creek water.
