Totally enjoying the two of you and your perspectives. I am 67 and learned to sew at 10 years of age on a treadle machine (which I still have). After a prolonged absence from sewing, the advent of rotary cutters, cutting mats was a game changer. Retired now, and loving the option of RUclips instruction and the wonderful sharing that folks like you are giving us has to be my favorite "tool". I learn so much from these videos, and can re-read at my leisure to learn a new skill. Keep sharing with us!!!
I want to thank both of you for your time and all the great information you give freely in your Podcasts and your RUclips channel as I have been a beneficiary of both. Thank You!
I love listening to the two of you talk. Every single podcast, I have learned something new that I can easily put into practice in my own quilting. I can't tell you ladies how much I appreciate all the time and attention it takes for this podcast to happen. Great job.
I love this quilt and I made it. I found a quilt kit of it at a shop in Bend, Oregon. My husband says it is his favorite. I was having problems with the stems and I emailed Sherri and she immediately got back to me and helped me out. I think she even put a tutorial up. This is why she is so special she loves helping you out and always responds to emails and comments and not all designers do!
My first time listening to you two! I LOVE IT! Love listening to both of you and reading all the wonderful and kind comments. I have been following you for a long time but seeing you is very special. I can’t wait to watch all your podcasts!
I have actually used leftover batting to make some larger quilts. I just put my joining foot on my machine and zigzag them together. First, I straighten the edges so they fit well next to each other.
I got my planner yesterday and I love it! I'm terrible about getting planners and using them for awhile then forgetting about them but this one can be used whenever and I love the sections for ruler and notion inventory and also for precut management. Thanks Sherri!
I saw my first Cheddar with a Turkey Red and Green quilts at the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum they were all antique quilts and all hand stitched! They were very beautiful! I also saw my first New Your Beauty quilts and they were really beautiful!
My favorite vlog by far. I was like only 30 minutes today 😂. Excited to wake up to see this posted and had to listen asap. Love hearing your views on things. Adore y’all’s relationship. Thanks for sharing
Hey Chelsea I can't sit and sew without my bamboo stiletto. I use it to guide fabric by the needle as to not stick my finger in the sewing machine. I store it in a clear small bag with some other goodies ie seam ripper, extra bobbins, small scissors, bone folder. It has a real pointy end and a blunt end. I do not remember where I got it but it is my absolute favorite item. I also wanted to tell you we would go twice or three times a year to quilt retreats and I loved seeing everyone, playing the games we made up, all the food we shared, ideas, and obviously the stores we would shop at in the vicinity. Love the vlog. Hugs from Minnesota
So grateful for the positivity you bring to this channel and I feel you must to your lives! Thank you for your “how to use tutorials, tips and tricks”. Anxious to receive your planner and more Balboa. (I received some in the sew sampler box!) God bless and thank you!!
Thank you Sherri for telling me to only have one container of batting scraps. I just went through mine and found I had kept way too many small scraps. Your direction made me realize I am never going to use those and it was ok to toss them. My guest bedroom is much tidier!
I’m so happy I got your fabric in my Sew Sampler, because I was able to use it for your quilt along. I ordered a few more of those fq bundles from FQS. They’re on their way. Plus the matching solids. So that may be what I make the whole quilt out of.
As I was watching this video I caught myself with a big smile on my face. You two are so delightful to watch and listen to. Will we ever see Billy? ;0)
I just purchased fabric this weekend to make your Cottage Charm pattern in your Labor of Love book. I am going to make it baby quilt size and I’m excited to start it. So many pretty quilts in this book. I want to make so many of them. But like you both said so many things to make! Enjoyed your video. You both give me a lot to think about. Thank you
loved hearing about your fabric journeys! I started with Thimbleberries with my Mom. Then became an Amy Butler fan. I also had some time making Jo Morton mini projects. Now my stash has soooo many different types of fabrics since I still love vintage but have fun with the bright fabrics too. I’m super excited for Happy Days which fits my latest color grouping.
I love your podcasts and look forward to them! Can you talk about how to fold and store quilts so you don't get that really hard crease/fold that appears on so many quilts after you've had them for a while. How do you store large quilts and also mini quilts? What color batting do you use? I've heard that if you have a quilt with a lot of white, you shouldn't use a cream colored batting because it will really change the color of the quilt.
Hi I love your podcast and your RUclips videos and all your tutorials! I am a beginner quilter and I have learned so much. I have pre-ordered a jelly roll of happy days and have found a pattern that I think I can do. I was wondering what white fabric you use with that line of fabric? Or do you have a favorite white fabric that you use when you do your quilts? Or, is there a fabric in happy days that I could buy yardage of that would work as a white background? Thanks so much!
I have a lot of scraps of both fabric and batting. I have trouble throwing it away. Can you sew the larger pieces of batting together if you could get a really narrow seam?
Great video ladies!!! Sherri, you get so much quilting done!!!! Do you have any tips for us to be able to get more quilting finished? I’ve been trying to get my small room more organized so I won’t always be looking for something!😩
I have a blog post called productivity for quilters you can read here: www.aquiltinglife.com/2020/05/11-productivity-tips.html/ And there is also a video here on the channel that goes along with it :)
Sherri, you mentioned that you had seen cheddar quilts that Lisa Bongean decorated with. I have been searching but haven’t found anything. Do you have a link or source that you can share?
Hi! I’m a new viewer, and enjoy your podcast! I have a question about selling quilts. Aside from obvious statements included in a pattern that say “for personal use only”, can you discuss making and selling quilts? For instance, no one owns the copyright to a 9 patch or churn dash block. Thank you!
I feel that the triangle paper wastes more fabric then cutting triangles with an old method. Fabric is so expensive now, I feel like I don't want to waste anymore than I have to. What do you do with your little scraps? Do you make crumb quilts?
Yes, triangle paper does waste a little fabric. But I use it primarily for the smaller hst's where accuracy is my primary concern and there really isn't as much waste. I generally don't use it for hst's bigger than 3-4" unless I have a ton to make. I don't save anything smaller than 1 1/2" x 1 1/2"...and I'm planning a postage stamp quilt with those squares :) I've heard small crumb-style scraps also make great dog bed stuffing and that there are organizations that will take those donations .
I have a question for Chelsi, I bought the American Patchwork and Quilting magazine for Oct. because I fell in love with your pumpkin quilt on the cover. Now when a magazine takes your pattern do they condense it for the article or is it exactly the way you wrote the pattern ? You will laugh, but as a newer quilter if the original pattern has more visual step by step I would pick up the actual pattern. Look forward to the next vlog, thanks ladies.
I just love your podcast. It feels like chatting with lovely friends. The discussion about color and quilting trends was soooo interesting. I, too, love different designers. I love Tula Pink, Kaffe Fassett and 1930s fabrics. Do you have any suggestions on how to incorporate the modern artistic style with traditional quilts in your home?
I use sharon Shamber’s method for sandwiching quilts with two boards so easy and can do large quilts by myself on my large cutting table. Im sure she still has a video on how to do it
Basically a quilt made with an orangey/yellow fabric mixed with cream or white (usually a two-color quilt). Thank you for watching! I'll share mine when I get it started!
I do have a question, Do we need more then one planner to carry over to the next year or is this for ever to use. I have got mine thru the mail and THANK YOU it is pretty on the out side and very thought out on the inside, love it. For Chelsi will the title be your name on the YT show or hers, do not want to miss her. I think you both have good thing to say and show. Stay Safe till the next time. Good podcast today
Yes, her videos will be here on this channel for now. I anticipate the planner being used for longer than a year...that was why it was so important to me to have the monthly pages undated...thank you so much!
I just noticed someone else mentioned JUST GET IT DONE QUILTS also. It's a wonderful YT channel & so informative. You might also want to check out QUILTVILLE.BLOGSPOT.COM Bonnie Hunter's blog. She has lots of great ideas too! I enjoy your relationship on screen. You can tell there is a lot of love for each other. Thanks for your YT channel. I have put an alarm to check you out each time you do a new one. Thanks again.
Thank you for all that you do. I came across a tutorial on HOW TO ORGANIZE YOUR BATTING SCRAPS by Karen of Just Get it Down Quilts. It is really worth checking it out.
Such a blessing that you get to hang out together like this! 💕

It helps if they are willing to take a minute to respond!!
Such a beautiful and fun post! Thanks Ladies! Love the leaf quilt!
Just started listening to your channel....you are so relaxing to listen to while I am sewing and crocheting...great job!
Very enjoyable as always. I love seeing what you have made and how you manage your time. Thank you.

Thank you for mentioning Amy Smart of A Diary of a Quilter. We worked together at a local quilt store and she is such a sweet person.
I got my planner and love it - so inspiring!!

You two are so sweet together!! Sew much to sew and sew little time!! 💗
I enjoy yours and FQS blogs and you tube channels. Thank you so much. I have yet to pick my first quilt but I have already learned so much!

Love your podcast!! Thanks for answering my question. You do such a great job and I love watching/listening!

Your monthly planner just came! Wonderful!
A live trunk show would be great.
I just found you 2. I really enjoyed this !! Thank-you
I'm making the mini as a wall hanging at the moment . Hope to do the quilt version at some point. PS PDF patterns are perfect for us overseas to buy.
Question - could you give a demonstration on your hand stitching for binding? Would love that

I made some Thimbleberries quilts too! Thank you!
So glad Chelsea put down the rotary cutter long enough to go grocery shopping 🤣

I love my planner! It's beautiful !!!
I have 2 containers for batting. One I use for baby quilts and I cut all long pieces for jellyroll rugs. I cut those pieces 2 and 1/4 inches.
Love the maple quilt

You can use Moda Bella 9900 200 with Happy Days if you want a white fabric!
Could you talk about choosing border & binding fabric? How about showing us your containers & how you use them?
I have a lot of scraps of both fabric and batting. I have trouble throwing it away. Can you sew the larger pieces of batting together if you could get a really narrow seam?
yes, and they also sell a tape like product that helps you fuse the pieces together.
Enjoying you girls this morning. I look so forward to seeing you. Question - do you have a tutorial on using the triangle paper vs other day?
I do have a triangle paper video here on the channel. And I also have a video with the ruler method I frequently use. Thank you!
Great video ladies!!! Sherri, you get so much quilting done!!!! Do you have any tips for us to be able to get more quilting finished? I’ve been trying to get my small room more organized so I won’t always be looking for something!😩

Does Chelsi have any quilting books out there? You have so many beautiful patterns, I would love to have a book full of some of them.
Sherri, you mentioned that you had seen cheddar quilts that Lisa Bongean decorated with. I have been searching but haven’t found anything. Do you have a link or source that you can share?
batting scraps can stuff donated dog beds for shelters, vets
What is a cheddar quilt & how do you use it? Thank you 😊
Susan Strong I think a cheddar quilt has yellow in it, like the color of cheddar cheese.

I'm not familiar with triangle paper. Can you demonstrate it?
I have a video here on the channel with a demonstration :)

If I may ask, what kind of shelving do you use in you sewing room. Love that bolts of fabric can be stored vertically.
I have 5 Billy bookcases from Ikea and one built in unit made with wood.
Oh, this is a great idea for our next podcast...I will talk about it! Thank you!
The planner is sold out, will you get any more?
Yes, I just listed more this morning...they will be here Friday and ship then :)
I use sharon Shamber’s method for sandwiching quilts with two boards so easy and can do large quilts by myself on my large cutting table. Im sure she still has a video on how to do it
When you work from someone else’s pdf patterns do you follow the instructions from your computer or do you print out the pattern?
Would you share your top ten blogs? ( it doesn’t have to be only quilting)
I love that you mentioned not just quilting...will do on the next episode!
on the batting if big enough why can't you stitch them together
how do you order a planner and how much is it
What is a cheddar quilt? I have never heard of a cheddar quilt.
Basically a quilt made with an orangey/yellow fabric mixed with cream or white (usually a two-color quilt). Thank you for watching! I'll share mine when I get it started!
I am technologically backwards and I don't know anything about Instagram! I'll have to check it out!

I just noticed someone else mentioned JUST GET IT DONE QUILTS also. It's a wonderful YT channel & so informative. You might also want to check out QUILTVILLE.BLOGSPOT.COM Bonnie Hunter's blog. Chelsi should let Sherri talk without talking over her a lot.
Thank you for all that you do. I came across a tutorial on HOW TO ORGANIZE YOUR BATTING SCRAPS by Karen of Just Get it Down Quilts. It is really worth checking it out.
