Get baptized! I got so fed up of my daughter being left in baptized while she struggled with worldly demons giving her no respite, I baptized her myself, out of my Holy Missal, which has the correct form. Get a Catholic or orthodox friend or relative to baptize you. It is valid. It is the best protection against evil. Becoming ‘worthy’ has nothing to do with it, as an adult, simply desiring baptism is enough.

It was raining and he was putting on his coat to look at his trees. His daughter warned him to be careful of the weather because it was st Elias day. He said Bah, what do I care about St Elias? I live in California. I understand the Orthodox faith to some degree. I am trying to join a small parish near me because I understand that the church is the experience of salvation and the continuation of the incarnation, having realized this, everything has become very difficult for me. My eyes don't see the way they once did and I'm struggling between two worlds. One world where I pray, and I rejoice in hope and I understand Love as St Paul describes it in chapter 13 and the other world where I am expected to do things to make money to pay the bills and these two worlds don't like each other...and I fall and I pray and I fall and I pray, and sometimes I fall and it takes me too long to pray again. And I'm scared and I despair because I see....but can't change completely. I have expectations from my Fr and I have expectations from my boss. The more I understand that all are sent by the Lord, the more I react the wrong way, as if the more I understand what the Lord wants and the more crystal clear it is what I must do, the more I fail because I am afraid to take a stand and say no, no matter what the consequences. I can only conclude from my laymen's perspective Praise the Lord with all your heart because he was sent to save us and only he can save us.

I loved your message. All of us struggle on a daily basis. But something I keep reminding is that God is always with me, and he won't put me through anything I can't handle. He is there when the going gets tough. And when it's tough, take a couple of deep breaths and pray. Doesn't have to be long, just pray. Any Orthodox church is welcoming and we love people who are interested in the faith and come to church and talk to the priest or parishioners. Very excited for you. Let's just all pray for each other!

I was a year ago in the same dilemma as you were. God has given you this job and has you where you need to be. If you feel that it is not, then pray to find a job that God wants you to be at and he will answer your prayer. We all need to make money to live and provide for our families but do what is right, refuse to do wrong at your job and see it as an opportunity for you to spread God’s love in this sad world. So many people are in despair in these times and we as Christians are called to be Gods light. So work like you are working for God and the two worlds will unite and you will find peace. Pray for Gods peace, love and joy and for His will to be done. I hope you find a good Orthodox Church and we will be praying for you. Stay strong and trust God. 🙏☦️

I hope that you are Orthodox or on your way. I hope you have or will soon have a priest to talk to about this. The Orthodox Church sees our sins as wounds against ourselves.. so when we are judgmental , we very often feel empowered and justified.. only later to see how we have again wounded ourselves as well as those we have judged..
Takes a while to understand that. Completely goes against the thinking of the fallen world.

Why do people go on believing that this blasphemy is against sports when it's really the inevitable outcome of angry, competitive, violence of sports? Emperor Theodosius banned such things and sports didn't make a strong resurgence until the rise of Communism. Look at any stadium game and you'll see eyes full of rage, voices of anger and insult, indecent "entertainment", followed by fights. Can anyone seriously imagine St. Peter going into a rage because St. Paul wasn't good at running fast or catching a ball? Should people really spend money glorifying millionaire athletes when that money could support their churches and families? What is done for God matters. What side of a line a ball lands on doesn't matter.

@@noway165Don't be deceived. Novak Djokovic and his wife are into hinduistic religion so deeply that their foundation is promoting so called "mindfulness" in some serbian schools and kindergartens. They both visit monasteries as if they are historical monuments and they even brought their guru to Dechani, Kosovo. and Metohija. Novak is practicing kundalini yoga. He did not wear his cross for so long so people started critisizing him for all the things he did against orthodox faith. Being superstitious he put his cross back believing he'll win because he started loosing and he had so many injuries. He never won Olimpics and this was very important to him. He did win and I hope that he truly repents for all the false beliefs. So far, he showed that all he cares is winning. And about showing his cross, you know Serbs have one word that describes it: "inat". Whatever others do, Serbs do the opposite. That's what kept them alive on the crossroad.

I get a bit confused with this as I thought scripture says he's already been: "Elijah has come already" Mt 17:12 (also Lk 1:17) referring to St John the Baptist having his 'spirit and power' and the Hebrews having misunderstood Malachi's prophesy and taken it literally

It would be encouraging if timid hierarchs and laity would take example from the non-Orthodox Christians mentioned here. They used their voice in a timely fashion to speak out and speak against the corruption that infected the world one week ago.

Beloved, remember that Elijah (Elias) already came as John the Baptist in spirit and power. The Malachi prophecy was fulfilled then during the time of Jesus. However, Elijah will physically return as a judgment against all who reject his ministry as John. Thus, the two Witnesses of God-Elias and Moses, will be God’s judgment against all who reject Jesus Christ and John the Baptist. For this reason, this time is Biblically referred to as “Jacob’s trouble.” The time of strong delusion. Jesus is Lord. Amen.

There was no reference to the last supper in opening ceremonies of the Olympics. The Olympics were founded in Ancient Greece. To celebrate the Greeks they enacted a mashup of the very famous wedding of the Greek god of wine and partying, Dionysus. At his wedding he turned water into wine. What is presented is the head table, which as in all weddings everyone sits at one side facing the guests. This myth is from hundreds of years before the advent of Christianity. I am a ministers son and in discussing Jesus's similar miracle we always mentioned that the guests at the wedding would have been familiar with the mythic tale. But Jesus performed it in actuality.
Hard to believe Christians could have failed to understand this. Time to brush up on Greek myths I thought we all knew this one. And they're fun!
