Thanks for the tear down, looks like they disabled OTG in the firmware, this can most likely be fixed if someone dumps the firmware and just make some changed to the [usbc0] settings. The revision board on the DATA EAST unit, the back USB port and the internal USB port, from what I can understand are wired as one usb port, meaning, they are the same port as far as the firmware is concerned. So on the revision DATA EAST board, when you connect a OTG cable, the unit will go into a boot loop because of the [usbc0] settings, you don't need the OTG cable on the revision DATA EAST board, just use VYSOR app which mirrors the device and you have full mouse/keyboard access. You need to use ADB command to install a file browser app, I recommend ES FIle Explorer: adb install (name of apk) Then use the following ADB command to launch ES File Explorer: adb shell monkey -p com.estrongs.android.pop -c android.intent.category.LAUNCHER 1 Once you have ES File Explorer open, then you have access to uninstall whatever Launcher the Namco unit is using in the Apps options. Then use the same ADB command to install your preferred launcher, then using the same commands above, launch back in to ES File Explorer => Apps section to launch your new Launcher and set it as the default launcher. Now you have access to the new launcher, from here you can enable USB storage device so your PC can pick it up and start transferring apk, roms, etc... Only benefit of getting OTG to work is to add additional storage if you want to fully load the unit with roms. I highly suspect you can do the same for the Namco unit. Forgot to add, you can use Kingo ROOT app on the PC to ROOT you Data East unit, I assume the same will work on the Namco unit. On the DATA EAST revision unit, you don't have to use the internal USB port, as the external USB port on the back is the same.
The screen issue your having, can you turn your Data East unit sideways and see if you have the same issue as the Namco unit? It could be that the viewing angle is meant to be for landscape for that screen, so when you turn it sideways (portrait), the view angle is affected? I tested this theory with my unit and if I turn it sideways, I can kinda see the 3D affect your talking about, I have to tilt the unit left or right to get a better viewing. Also try turning your Namco unit side ways so that that screen is in landscape, see if the screen is better?
Your desire to explore is incredible, with such a beautifully decorated cabinet it takes courage 😮👍

Hey Johnny, you know if external controllers can be connected to this system? Because using that D-pad/joystick thing is pure torture for the fingers.
From old one DataEast my arcade cabinet only two that work. It have to be Retro gamepad . Not all Controller are compatible with normal controller.
