Nah man, he's the best there will ever be. 275 pounds, 10.8 sec for a 100, 6 foot 5 approx 4.40 for 40 yard dash. Not hard to work out why he's the greatest
Hands down the best there was. The goat in rugby rip mate. Met him twice when he was coaching the cardiff rugby club near my way in wales. The size and speed and power on him and the amount of players it took to try and deal with him. He makes it look easy but people forget all the top rugby international teams were the best of the best and he just smashed through the lot!
I can tell you bro, Jonah was a legend. I am from NZ. I played rugby from 5 years old. I remember when Jonah first appeared at age 19.He was a giant 6’5゛ and over 260Lb. And he was fast. Legs like tree trunks. No one could stop him. People were scared to tackle him. He was like a steam train. The All Blacks secret weapon, he won many games for New Zealand. We all loved him. When he died in 2015 it tore a hole in the hearts of all of New Zealand.
He passed away in 2015 due to long term kidney disease and a heart attack I believe. He was 6'5 261 pounds, he ran 10.8 for the 100m, and at the time in Rugby there where no guys his size that could move like him or run as fast as that. Now there are lots of guy's in the game his size, but I don't know of any that match his speed. RIP Jona Lomu.
There are certainly Jonah Lomu like players out there, the Tuilaga brothers, Savea brothers, etc, but still not quite like him. A semi fit Jonah would still dominate today. People forget that he still dominated in the early 2000's, and the physiques and weight of players were no less impressive then as they are are now. The wallabies fielded one of the largest backlines ever, each of them 100+kg with the likes of sterling Mortlock, Ben Tune, Latham, etc back in 2000. He had no problems steamrolling them.
When he exploded into our tv screens, news paper and onto our rugby fields, I can say, we were freaked at this guys talent. Much love by NZ, and respected in the world of rugby. Might never see another player at this calibre ever again. Rear Talent. Rip "Big Fella." What a joy to watch, pubs, sports clubs, homes shook as he hit the ball full speed. Woooow. Mc Caw was the all black captain, tackles anybody, none gets past. He said, surely I can tackle him, easy. He said, took him on, came off second best there first time meeting him on the field. React to Christian Cullen#15(retired ab full back)retired AB Captain, Mc Caw, best captain I believe, he would be a contender to goat of rugby, if Lomu never existed. Great reaction bro. South Africa Rugby Teams has produced amazing players aswell. Go To "Southern Hemisphere Rugby Teams".
nice reaction from u bro , u nailed his strengths & skills . When he was wearing All Black he was playing the best international players in the world at the time and owning it . unstoppable and definitlly the GOAT . RIP Jonah
The one and only King of Rugby. He globalized rugby the same way michael jordan did with basketball. On the field he was a monster but off he was the most humble person ever. Rest in peace King Jonah.
Best reaction of lomu I've watched you got into detail with what you liked etc respect to you brother. When jonah died a whole country stood still and mourned a rugby great maybe the best of all time.
Lomu was a Tongan grew up in NZ and like many Islanders be it Tongan, Samoans, or Fijians, many are able to be given a much better opportunity to play for bigger countries because of their athletic talents. It's like MLB getting the best baseball talents from South America.
Thanks for your inquiries on who is the GOAT in rugby. To be honest, there are only two rugby players, Jonah Lomu and Rupeni Caucaunibuca, who is considered the greatest, but one thing that causes a division among rugby fans is the time period both players played in. In rugby, there are two era being measured that caused a major shift that saw rugby becoming a major sports and players getting bigger. One era is before it became a professional sports, during Jonah Lomu's time, teams in its cities or even national teams didn't have experts in nutrition programs or physical workouts compared to the professional era, during Rupeni Caucaunibuca, which happened around year 2000, where players got bigger, faster, and stronger and finally got paid. But you might ask why Lomu is strangely bigger than the rest, well, his Polynesian of Tongan ancestry. And there are a lot of big Tongans in the NFL. To give an proper example of this to rugby great playing style, Lomu is like Walter Payton or Bo Jackson. So powerful and fast for his size, but Rupeni Caucaunibuca is like Barry Sanders. Shorter than Lomu, yet had incredible speed and incredible elusiveness. PS sorry for the lack of respect made by those trolls on your previous inquiry, as you know, every family has one rotten apple. However, I like to welcome an American like you to our rugby family that truly loves fans across the globe. Checkout this FB page: en-gb.facebook.com/USASevens/
No bro all true rugby fans know that Jonah LOMU is the greatest! ..He is the reason the game is where it is today, he is also half the reason why all these "Superstar rugby players" today play the game of rugby..
image the freak he would have been if he had had two functioning kidneys as he spent his life with kidney disease which finally killed him at 40 years of age
Yes he is. As a New Zealander there are so many great rugby players, but Jonah was one of a kind player. Plus he was respected by everyone for the love of his family fans and team. He left a wife and 2 young boys. Looking forward to meeting him in Heaven.
Jonah was the youngest New Zealand Rugby Union player ever at the age of 18. He played the majority of his rugby in New Zealand however he did spend some of his time playing in England as well. During his time playing he was diagnosed with a kidney disease that he kept playing with. He passed away at the age of 40 due to this disease. In New Zealand and possibly around the world he is considered one of the greatest of all time. This a link to a haka that his former team mates that former school mate profomed at his funeral that will possibly show you so of high regard he was held in New Zealand and around the world. ruclips.net/video/ovd3v0CPXJA/видео.html
Legend and the pioneer of professional rugby as played now and also known as the "Train"as those trying to stop him get wrecked by a train lol great vid bro chur
Jonah made the top players in the world look like collage boys in comparison. Every man that collided with him said it felt like running into a brick wall. He was a kind good man & is still much loved & missed in NZ.
lomu has to be one of the scariest players to have as an opponent ever .... think about it like this, u have to tackle Jonah.... that's a 6'5 , 260 pounds, "angry'' islander running straight at u doing 20mph ... how can u convince yourself that this is gonna have a happy ending for you? ^^
6’5” 265lbs. At 16 he ran 10.8 for 100m and was estimated at 10.5 at his peak. 4.4 40 yards. When you think he’s at full speed he still seems to have another gear available. His swerve didn’t look much but he’s moved 5m sideways in a second. Most of his career he was handicapped by kidney disease and he couldn’t train fully. Met with Dallas cowboys, who offered him a big contract to play RB but he stayed loyal to rugby.
i am English i watch football [soccer] i would watch rugby union , just international games so these were the best of the best that lomu was playing against , he was amazing ,he had kidney problems , also we out matched with him on wing , the size of him he should have been in middle with the big dudes 6-6 6-9 mountains . as i said i am a soccer watching brit so and these men played 80 minutes constant play, dont know how these some monsters can play that long of a game
Usain Bolt the fasted sprinter in the world (Gold Medal Winner) does the 100m in 9.68seconds. Lomu did it in 10.80. That's nuts! One commentator said his open stride run was a beauty to behold!
JL was offered a blank check to play NFL pro-ball.....he turned it down flat. He is STILL the GOAT. When he passed the world of RU and fans worldwide mourned. It would sometimes take six men to bring him to the ground. Tackling JL was like trying to stop an express train.
rob good vid mate but i gotta tell ya this isn't cherry picked highlights, jonah was 18st an did the 100m in about 10.7 on grass and for most of his career he was struggling with the kidney failure that killed him in the end. he was a freak like you said
Ae, tika to korero. Only one like Jonah. God bless the brother. Jonah played for the NZ All Blacks. Rugby is the primary religion in NZ. Rugby League is a small game here and differs from Rugby in that Rugby is more strategic like Chess.

He's the best freak athlete of all time but there are other skillful players like Dan Carter or legendary captains like Richie McCaw that would/could be considered 'better' players due to their all round skills and ability to control and win games. Funnily enough, Jonah was a New Zealander and it's generally non-New Zealanders who think he is the GOAT. Like you said, he's similar to Bo Jackson. Bo wouldn't be considered the greatest NFL player compared to being the best freak athlete.
He was never at 100% either has he always had a kidney problem that limited him somewhat. It got worse as he got older. He ended up being rugby's world ambassador.

The thing with lomu is he was so strong but had some kung fu type balance. The man could run the football on a tight rope.
Jonah made the top players in the world look like collage boys in comparison. Every man that collided with him said it felt like running into a brick wall. He was a kind good man & is still much loved & missed in NZ.
When you ask people who the greatest Rugby player ever was, there are usually 2 answers. Richie McCaw and Jonah Lomu

He had a younger brother (at the age of about 10) said he would just tackle Jonah around the ankles and it was no problem for him.
a man that size.............100 metres in 10.80.............says it all
Usain Bolt the fasted sprinter in the world (Gold Medal Winner) does the 100m in 9.68seconds. Lomu did it in 10.80. That's nuts! One commentator said his open stride run was a beauty to behold!

Jonah was the GOAT, theres no one to compare him to in Rugby. He is in on par with these names Jordan, Ali, Messi, Federer, Ruth.
He was a union player for the All Blacks a New Zealand team.

RIP JONAH haka
Not a freak... Naturally gifted. He was never at full 100%. Health issues always plagued him.
He was not playing at 100 percent the whole time that he was playing
Jonah and Bo are comparable

Height/How Tall: In Centimetres - 185 cm (In Feet and Inches - 6′ 1″)

He when young used a car engine with large cement blocks tied to it for weight
And most of his career he was battling a kidney disease
