I think you should've went with the "End the state of emergency" focus tree (the real Democratic and Monarchist). Because the one you chose is Non-aligned/Fascio path
as a Brazilain i can say this is the most accurate representation of brazilian geopolitical mechanics i ever seeing in a game. The idea of neglected states and the fragile political relations with USA makes everything even more realistic. To give a step back so we can move forward two steps is a undeniable reality as well. Is the first time I understand how some stuff works before FeedBackGaming clarification too. Im in heaven with this DLC. Great video FBG!
Because for nearly all of Brazilian history it was a kingdom. Are you complaining that the German Reich isn’t just called Germany? Or the Soviet Union just Russia?
@@magmamouse7270tbf, Russia is a different country than the Soviet union and technically it *left* the union before it's officially ended but yes, that's true
Quick trivia: Brazil was once called Estados Unidos do Brasil (which translates to United States of Brazil), and the flag was a straight up copy of the US flag, but with different colors.
Feedback, in contrast to the comment saying that he is tired of tutorial videos, I want to say that I really enjoyed this one and the Argentinian one, slower videos where you keep in your thought process are entertaining to me. Also, that Indonesia island hopping with amphibious tanks was something I don’t usually see, so that was more interesting than another Day D or Sea Lion action in Europe. Thank you for your videos, keep it up!
Appreciate this style of video -- I learn something different about the game every time. The first time I played HOI4 was way too intimidating to enjoy it (other than the music). Going to see if there's a playlist for those other fourteen.
I just did a Brazil playthrough, I invested heavily into Artillery, superior firepower 8 inf 4 art. Took all the focuses and decisions that improved artillery and mixed with Field Hospitals/Recon/Logistics/support aa/support art. Didnt need to build tanks or special forces, these units were able to push anything
1:04:20 well, that's what happened in real life, Brazil declared war agains't the axis but didn't exacly joined in combat, so the US demanded some ''troop support'', that's why Brazil have joined with 25k soldiers in Italy in 1944
@20:00 re: two 35 day focuses for one factory each vs 1 70 day for 2 factories, you get a factory earlier with the 2 which gives you 35 days worth of production and efficiency gains for one factory at the end of the 70 days as well as the 2 factories. Not much in the grand scale of things, but definitely a benefit of breaking the award up over multiple focuses.
About "neglected states", I think you understood the nature of the neglect wrong. It's not that those states lacked infrastructure, they were politically neglected, treated as just places you explored labor and took the riches to the Rio de Janeiro/São Paulo/Minas Gerais states, that ruled the country before Vargas' 1930 coup. You need to fix the political machine's will to even care about those places to then be able to build something there. From that point of view, I agree 100% with Paradox's implementation.
I did like how you mentioned not to get too "deep" into the numbers. I've seen some other guys with other Paradox titles mathing out obvious stuff like "constructing income increasing building makes you more money."
My biggest grip on how paradox deals with economic focus is lacking of branches based on type of goverment, it makes no sense for a comunist goverment would do the same things as a liberal democratic goverment or a fascist one
I know it's a long shot, but do you think that you could do a style of video like this for Victoria 3: Sphere of Influence when that comes out? I will probably pick it up then and I have learned so much in HOI4 by following along at home. Love the content!
Could you do an "every single click" that doesn't involve you rehashing tutorial information? I like the format, but it's really annoying either having to listen to stuff that's been said 50 times before or jumping ahead by a few seconds at a time in the hopes you're saying something new. Maybe just link to an exemplar 'tutorial every-single-click' of yours, and say in the video "Go here for an introduction to HOI4"?
Thoughts on focusses: I've always thought HOI4 should have 3 or 4 concurrent focusses. For example, an army focus, a navy focus, an air focus and an economic focus. These could be tied to different advisors. You could rush one by neglecting the other. It would allow you to work on multiple aspects of your country at once!
Doing a build like this is so intense on the economy. If it were against Germany it wouldn't be as much of an issue, but Japan's gigantic fleet and the huge amount of space the Pacific is involved in pressures everything. Unless you want to rely on the AI you gotta build your own navy, you want air cover, and because of the huge zone sizes it's often better to go for medium size planes, every resource gets taken in huge quantity, you still need to build up the army you're using and if you're going amphib instead of just marines, that's even more tech and resources, you have to research a million things, then you're still having to build ports, airbases, radar if you got it. About the only thing missing from playing a nation in this manner is strat bombers, but even then you might want to use large frame maritime patrol.
Paraguay have a focus, that give 2000 exp to the officer of the divisions, but if you have more divisions all these officers will gain 2000 exp (Sorry for my bad english)
I did a run with Brazil and i felt that industrializing the country is slower than what it was with the generic focus tree Also i lost 700k manpower to a war against Paraguay, the AI kept spamming Last Stand xD
Re: Focus tree progression solving all your problems, isn't the choice to choose that focus rather than another one the agency we have? Yeah, progressing down fixing your economy is just a linear process, but you do it at the expense of not solving your political problems, getting military bonuses, or fulfilling your ambitions. Since focuses also cost PP, it can mean deferring getting advisors or changing laws.
The downside of giving out medals is they don't stack at full strength. If you give them a medal for 10% Organization then give them another for 10% Organization, the second medal is reduced to 5%, then 2.5% for the third, even though it still shows the 10% value when you select which medal. So diversifying your medals for the same division is better than stacking.
The reason that Brazil starts off with carrier fighters is because in the late 1930s in many ways the Navy planes were superior to the Air Force planes but in one very important way they were easier to get because the United States did not need as many planes for the Navy and Marine corps as they did for the army so it was easier to get them to export the Navy planes
Feedback you need to play the united states of south america again you can now get cores on the nations you diplo annex and if you start your own faction and do reach out to your neighbours focus you can invite them for 20 pp
You wanna say "trail" because it's noticeable that you might be slightly dyslexic - you often misread words in your videos. Not in a way that's annoying or anything, but just slightly noticeable.
You can throw enough money into a state that doesnt have the political or literal infrastructure to accept development, but it wont work as well. I think the game perfectly encourages you to neglect a state that you havnt politically helped.
