This shotgun is an Ithica model 37 with a sawn off barrel. It can be used by all classes except engineer and spy. -and rip craptop- edit - just watched the video and oh my god *you said it*
By the way, the HD model SMG was not replaced by an M4A1, but rather a variant, called Colt M727, which is basically an CAR-15 with the M16A2 upper receiver and fixed carrying handle sights, it was used by the Navy SEALs and other SOCOM elements in the US Army.
@@kimballbelliston5925 I mean, it's pretty hard for small arms to get outdated, the tech here progresses much slower than tanks or planes. That's why you see Afghan militias using 40s AKs and Sturmgewehr 44s still.

that's a rocket shaped jump pack that has no actual equivalent in real life for now. it could be a small jetpack activated only when you jump for extra boost but afterburn would rip gordon's ass apart
The HD pack really feels like a downgrade in a lot of ways when you compare the two. It just kinda takes away the uh... "unique-ness"(?) of some of the weapons, and makes them look more generic. Especially the nests for the Snarks. I love how the original looks like it could be its own mobile, living creature. Like the nest itself is alive. Perhaps the last stage of a Snark is to turn into a living nest? I wonder if they can reproduce asexually or not. Makes me wish there were just, like, books filled with random lore bits that the Half Life devs thought of during development.
You know, the interesting thing about the HD SMG is that there IS an AR pattern 9mm SMG, the Colt Model 635, but it has a differently shaped magazine than the 5.56mm version. Just thought you could mention that but I guess model is more important than in game function.
It honestly would've made more sense than a full-blown -M4- Colt Model 727 considering Black Mesa is a CQC environment, although it would still be weird to have it hold 50 rounds in a single magazine.
@@Zmeeed01 if i remember correctly, it uses 32 round uzi magazines and there was an even more appropriate Colt DOE smg that would be even better for cqc environments.the model number is R633
I like etymologies and origins, I also like guns, and I like half-life. This content fills all them. Subbed~ . Oh and the reason why the vanilla and OpFor has MP5 model is because the lore (from OpFor) suggests that the HECU grunts were trained specifically for close quarters combat. It also makes sense why the said submachine gun may possibly share the same ammunition with the pistol.
The idea of close combat make sense to me. In fact i think they were planing to use mp5sd because it was a covert operation to kill those scientiest silently
The Alpha version of the game did show HECU grunts use m4s before they were replaced with the mp5. Still doesn't make sense as to why they would change the model. Also off topic but the double barrel shot for the spas 12 looks more and sounds like a burst shot rather then at once. That's the most logical explanation for that.
the SMG is *NOT* an MP5SD. It's a regular MP5, with a mounted M203. What looks like an SD barrel is just a poorly modelled heat shield. Look up "Indonesian MP5 M203".
I think it is really an mp5 se considering that weapon was intented to be silenced in the old tráilers. Maybe they forgot to change the model or they didnt know about weapons very much
The crossbow in hl1 isnt technically a crossbow, one of the scientist before you get it calls it a shark tranquilizer so maybe thats why you couldn't find anything.
If you think about it, laser-activated or motion-sensing mines that use light are absolutely NOT the move you want for a mine. In the real world, there are already issues with mines indiscriminately killing the wrong people (including friendly forces who don't know mines are set up somewhere). A Laser tripmine makes that problem even fucking worse because an optical sensor is way more sensitive than a mechanical activation method (like a tripwire or a pressure plate). Mines would be blowing up all the time because of stuff like the wind, or dust, animals, etc. It's an idea that can only be implemented successfully in video games, because the real world is full of stuff that will set them off randomly.

Thank you, I was so confused as to why I kept seeing youtube videos of gordan using an mp5, and here I am on Xen, having never played HL 1 before, wondering if I missed something. I thought it was dumb the marines' assault rifle fired the same bullets as the first pistol, it makes sense if the original skin is an mp5.
The reason why Snarks explode after awhile is because it's a final defense mechanism. How they're thrown actually is that Gordon(or the user) applies pressure to the Snark causing the Snark to panic thinking it's going to get crushed in someone's grasp, as a result when released they go in a feral frenzy in where they attack any creature they deem a threat and most importantly the one the threatened them. After awhile the creature's blood boils to a point in where the chemicals within erupt in a burst of acid and the Snark dying. It's a evolutionary defense system to dissuade the Snark's prey or would-be abusers.
The MP5 uses the M203 "shorty". The HUD of the MP5 if you noticed, has M16 proportions... as the handguard reaches the full length of the M203. The only weapon that looks like the child of the MP5 and M16 is the Heckler and Koch G41.
HEV suit actually does give additional strength to the owner, basically exo skeleton but much more high tech, this is just common sense since the suit is pretty much a power armor and it can eat bullet like a champ, second the suit must be sufficient enough to carry its own weight.... so why don't go further and beyond the crossbow... is actually not a crossbow at all, its a dart gun uses to tranquilizes target, dual to the balance of the game they have to make it become a sniper "rifle" the closest you can get with the gluon gun and the tau cannon is the plasma welder/cutter
3:50 to simplify, the three main leptons are the electron, muon and tau. The electron is the lightest and most stable of the three, often orbiting atoms. The muon is more massive and less stable, and the tau is the most massive and least stable. The gluon gun is based on the gluon; the boson that hold protons and neutrons together in atoms.
There are some things I would like to point out since Whomobile was a bit lazy at doing his research on these weapons. Spas 12 shotgun can be set for semi-auto fire (which might explain the double shot action), even though player is still using the manual pump-action with it. Spas 12 needs enough powerful shells to use it's semi-auto fire otherwise it might jam. The manua pump-action has to be used for weaker shells. Colt 727 (or just AR-15 or M16) should not be able to share it's ammunition with the pistol unlike MP5, but it does anyway.
The Crossbow in the game is what I think is a Harpoon gun mix with a crossbow because in the game you find this weapon in a cage and the bow is there and what most divers use is the Harpoon gun I think that is it because the ammo can Also shoot under water
Basically a Tau particle is a Lepton, a lot like it's less massive cousins the light Electron and kind of chunky Muon except it's even more massive than a Muon, like nearly 3500x more massive (relative to the charge of -1) so they're far more penetrating (when going fast) than Electrons are, in a way the Tau cannon is like, and looks like an offensive cathode ray tube! Taus have a vanishingly short lifetime unless you accelerate them real hard up to relativistic speeds (significant fractions of the speed of light, c) at which point fucky time dilation effects start kicking in extending their lifetime relative to our time frame (just google time dilation it's complicated). I'm fairly sure you actually need a whole particle accelerator to slap things together hard enough to generate them but hey don't let physics get in the way of your imagination!
Edit: 1) The HUD of the MP5 has severely warped proportions. It shows a 12in M203 grenade launcher with the MP5 elongated to M16 length (with the front sight flush with the GL). This might suggest that earlier on in game development perhaps a 5.56mm version of the MP5 existed and caused me to make my earlier HK33 comment below - I've since retracted that opinion. 2) The M203 worldmodel itself is also warped - in this case the 6in shorty version of the M203 is featured. Ironically the M203 shorty itself is too short - the M203 shorty can never be flush with the MP5's front sight, it will always protrude out a few inches. (My earlier comment) The HUD of the MP5 suggests an MKE-HK33 which was able to use the M16-style handguard. Not many people know of this rare weapon which was one of the many attempts to make M16 parts cross-compatible with the Heckler & Koch system.
HK nerd here: the MP5 model is not an SD model even as the wiki states, SD MP5’s are integrally suppressed. The model in game looks to sport a “slimline” hand guard and an A3 retractable stock. The hand guard does not have a picatiny rail on the bottom and I’m pretty sure there’s no hand guard for the MP5 that can successfully use a grenade launcher even if it does have the rail.
I knew someone who was issued the MP5 while working for a private company a while back this weapon is favored by spec ops forces including security corporations, His name was Herb Norfolk and before that was in the Army as a Sgt.
