The absence of buttons on the shirt is evidence that Mike was still a starving musician when this was videotaped.

Not sure if this is on DVD, but I do know that its on VHS. This was released in the US without the subtitles. This was one of Mike's first study videos that was recorded in Japan. Notice that he's not playing Tama but Mapex, this is before he got his endorsement deal with Tama. Check with your local drum store for the VHS, hope this helps.

0:59- " I don't see why it is any easier to play 4 beats per measure than it is to play 5 beats or 7 beats..." That must mean his head would explode if he'd hear typical 4/4 pop music. LOL

Good vid, wish the subtitles weren't there tho. That's the same way I tackled odd time signatures so I guess I'm on the right track.
Do you have the second half? I'd love to hear him break down Voices.

I don't know why I've been breaking my balls with Odd Time signatures for so long, it's really goddamn simple actually, it's very much like simple math and I've been making it harder than it looks in my own deluded insane mind!
take a 4/4 play it at double speed and you have a 4/8! so take a 7/4 play it at double speed and you have a 7/8! fuck me real easy,
The hard part is to keep track in your mind, but you could very well just count a 7/8 as a 4/4 with the last beat cut in half
