    Good tips! One item I carry winter is a stylus, in case I need to check Trailforks, take a picture, etc. I can use the phone and gloves/mitts stay on so hands will keep toasty.

    Great winter riding tips. I like to pack an extra beanie for the return ride home, my head often sweats, so I start off the ride with a lite weight beanie and which over to a warmer dry beanie for the second half of my ride.

    Excellent information on the hand warmers! I had not realized they can last so long. Do you. ever use the foot warmers? Do you ever store food in your pogies? Have to laugh - at my first Fat Pursuit I learned (thankfully, not the hard way) just how much tire pressure can drop after taking the bike outside!

      I don't use toe warmers too often. IME they don't get as hot, don't last as long. Yes, I store food in my pogies, it's a great spot to stash snacks. See ya at fatty p!

    What a great video! I wish I had watched it before my below-freezing misery this am! 😅 But, info from a few of your previous videos allowed me to complete my ride and take note of changes to make for the next one! Peace and love to you and your family! Appreciate your vids!!

    A lot of good points. Like the starting hand warmers prior to the ride, I would of never thought of putting hand warmers on my shins. Once again thank you for an outstanding video. Oh by the way your model keeps getting cuter and cuter. Your a lucky man. Take care, Al

    Thanks for another great video! Just a thought, maybe you can also put the ziplocked handwarmers in the freezer? Should help to slow the chemaical reaction even more so they're good to go the next time!

      @DirtyTeethMTB  18 дней назад

      Great idea - can't hurt :) I'll have to add that to the handwarmer tips video I'm prepping right now - thanks!!

    • @edt5276
      @edt5276 16 дней назад +2

      Since the chemical reaction is exothermic (gives off heat), ironically, putting them in the freezer MIGHT actually speed the reaction. There's a story in Freshman chemistry where, in WWI, soldiers' coat buttons decayed faster in very cold temps because that decay gave off heat. See Le Chatelier's Principal. I put mine in a small glass jar. I've stored partially-used ones over the spring, summer & fall, taken them out the following winter and they heat up fine.

    A few tips I find that work well for me.
    Electric socks and gloves are key at 10 F and below.
    I use SRAM Tyrewiz to monitor pressure on my garmin. I run 27.5 Gnarwhals with studs are my tire of choice, often breaking trail with pressure down to 2.5 psi on Hed CF wheels. I have learned that friction from riding increases the pressure by about .25 PSI even in very cold temps. They have been very helpful in understanding what pressure to ride with different snow conditions.

    Nice video. Thanks for sharing. My Soundcore ear buds are pretty much cold-resistant. My own heat and a windproof hat over my ears are enough to keep my ear buds batteries warm enough.

    Great video and information. I use bone conducting for music / phone (shokx) and they hold up just fine. They are worn under my had and or hood / helmet, never any issues. I ride all winter virtually everyday whether it's 110 or -35 f.

    For wireless headphones I use Beats Flex Bluetooth headphones. The batteries are on a lanyard that sits next to your neck and can be placed under a layer. I wear them working outside in all temperatures (but never while riding, go figure) and they run almost as long as they do inside. They are cheap, have decent sound, and last almost 8 hours. Probably not the best for perfect sound aficionados but I mostly listen to audio books. This December I wore them working in -20F temps for 4 hours and no problems at all.

    I store my partially consumed hand warmers using a vacuum sealer. It's the same way the manufacturer package them. To minimize waste, put them in a larger bag, seal it, then carefully cut away just the sealed strip on next use. Reuse the bag again until it's too small to fit warmers.

    Im.not big on having ear buds in while riding. If I do have one in, it's the right side (as it's the side away from traffic and such). I have Soundcore Life Dot 2 ear buds and they've never ever let me down yet. Doesn't matter the temps. I'm nit sure if they're built that well, or what. But I can say in the 5 yrs I've had mine they have been through hell and back, and STILL produce excellent results.

    I always pump tires at home, in advance considering that the temperature outside will drop by 2-3 psi. Why freeze your hands, which are very hard to warm up later?)

    • @DirtyTeethMTB
      @DirtyTeethMTB  18 дней назад

      Great point :) That's fine if it works for you, especially if you're only dealing with 2-3 psi change. I typically have double that or more where I live. I do it outside to take the guesswork out and get a more exact reading... and like I said, my bike usually lives in the garage anyway. PS - if I freeze my hands while dealing with air before the ride even starts, I have no business going out and fat biking :) - Ride on!

    Quick question: Do you have experience with either electric gloves or mitts for really cold weather?

    • @DirtyTeethMTB

      Cedaero Devils Kettle XL. Made for 32oz hydroflasks. The trail series is a little longer than "regular" hydroflask, but still fits ok and I modified slightly... ride on!
