I owned a Salsa Beargrease, but two seasons ago I bought an ARI Kings Peak. Checks all the boxes! I ride our snow trails in the winter on 5 inch tires and in the spring I mount it up with an Old Man Mountain rear rack and 3 inch tires to bikepack until late fall. An awsome ride!
Panorama Chic Choc 🤌 Gen 2 on sale and has some amazing geo for 26” expedition. New Gen 3 looks a little more focused on 27.5, slightly slacker etc, both very versatile bikes very much geared to Bikepackering with tones of bosses . threaded BB, with carful attention to frame drainage Awsome bikes
Panorama Chic-Chocs. Gen 3 just release with updated 120mm fatbike (or 140mm 29er) suspension corrected geo, downtube storage and a lot of customizable options.
The portage handle on the Corvus is the piece that goes from the chain stay to the seat stay on the drive side. I have a Corvus Crow Pass with the same portage handle, it's a lifesaver when the bike is fully loaded.
Thanks so much for clarifying that. 👍 Makes total sense! I was mindlessly assuming it would be something like this: ruclips.net/video/BJAM0TB6FbE/видео.html - ride on!
Great video. I don't do back country or bikebacking but I love my old school Fatback Rocker 170. I was checking out that Ti Otso Saturday at our Global Fat Bike Day ride though and that is one beautiful bike!
I love my Crestone with my HED Made in Minnesota wheels (yes, full XC mode) 😊 Great video Alan! Would love to see a video about Idaho Fatbiking trails 😊 See you Fatpursuit!
Good timing of this video. It’s national fat bike day today. You missed the Rocky Mountain Blizzard that meets all your criteria I think. Where is the riding area in your opening shots. 🤘🏾
Yep, the RM Blizzard is a solid option - thanks for the mention :) The drone stuff is near my home in Idaho. I feature it in this video: ruclips.net/video/hzl22Zlr-5s/видео.html - ride on!
Granted, I don't do bike packing/expedition riding, but I do love my Borealis. Had some great customer service from them too. I tried the Crestone and the Flume, and loved the Flume frame more. So, in the fall of 2019, ordered my Flume, GX build and Lauf fork. At the time, the Lauf was a $450 upgrade and do not regret the upgrade. Yesterday was chatting with three others while out for a GFBD ride and probably helped Lauf sell one, maybe two Carbonaras after they tried my bike. HA! Enjoy your content - Happy Trails!
Great info and video, as usual! However, I am curious to hear your take on the Borealis Flume. I bought one in July 2023 and don't see too many around. I have mine process of being built up for bike packing and have discovered that they didn't think ahead with a few minor things, but otherwise its a great bike so far. I wanted a fat bike for years and couldn't beat it at a 2nd hand price of 750 for a factory spec'd up bike that was 2500 less than a year before I bought it. Guy was a railroad insurance adjuster and gave it up on a crazy good deal.
Really enjoyed your latest fat bike video! There were some high groomed trails shown that were fantastic. What trails were they? I would love to put them on my bucket list.
I love my Why Big Iron. Lucky to have it branded as Why before changing it to Revel. I hope they dont come out with different version as the current one is already perfect as is. Otherwise, i’ll be tempted to get one and sell my Why frame. 😂
Managed to snatch a Salsa Mukluk from my lbs last summer. Love the bike! I was eyeing the Otso Actodus but the Mukluk was in sale due to them discontinuing it. It's been treating me well. ^_^
I have the RSD Mayor in an aluminum frame. Thoroughly enjoy it! Review this one next! I'd be interested in your thoughts and opinion! Keep up the good work!,,
Good call! Thanks for sharing :) I did a giveaway of a Yukon with a friend and made a video about it here: ruclips.net/video/nrYqXWYHPOQ/видео.html - fantastic bike. She took it on the Iditarod, Fat Pursuit, etc
Have an older 9zero7 alloy, 1st gen with 197 spacing and 105 x 26 Nextie/DT 350 and am looking into a newer frame. Gotta take the fatties and have a good open frame, also considering a dropper. Great list!
Love my ICT. All my friends that try it are blown away by how fun and nimble it is for a chonker of a bike. Been on some long trips and never had a single concern or problem with the hardware.
Alan, Speaking of fat tires, have you ever witnessed anyone riding one of those fat tire trikes out in the wild. Utah trikes aggressively promotes their use, though I have never actually seen one being ridden other than on youtube. Thanks.
Just wondering if anyone has any negative points on the trek Farley 9 winter edition? The sale price seems like a great deal for what you get, but I’m new to fat biking so just wondering what people with more experience think of it?
Hello! Do you have accessory mounting devices for my new Farley 7 Manitou Mastodon fork? I’m new and got this bike for riding and camping. Snowy mountain bike trails and groomed XC ski trails. I’m happy Farley is on the list
Good question. No, you don’t have to be tubeless to add studs. They sit in a little “pocket” and don’t penetrate through the tire or get anywhere near the tube :) Ride on!
Tubeless and ultra low pressure winter riding are a terrible mix! After too many flats and aggravation when switching to/from studded fat tires, I said fuck tubeless forever on the fatbike and never looked back. Never had to push the bike back to the car since!

Came here to say the same thing about the portage handle! Lots of people don’t know what that little tube is all about!
You've covered lots of options in this summary Alan, thanks! Happy Global Fat Bike Day!!! 😊
@@AbMtnGuy thanks for watching!! Much appreciated 🙌

SAWEET bike!!! Please say hi at Fatty P :) Hmmm, that does sound like a fun video idea... I'll put it in the hopper - ride on!

Love my blizzard! First season on it
I just bought a blizzard a30 powerplay. Half price right now. Crazy good bike.
@@chrispederson4157 wow, great deal!

Haha I’m Yupik. I got the mukluk cause it’s my native language. Well that and it’s an awesome bike too
That’s awesome!!! Thanks for sharing :)
Very helpful....thanks! I've been eyeing a Heyday at REI, this seals the deal =D
Great bike! Merry Christmas :)

Thanks for sharing - the Flume is a nice bike at a nice price- and sounds like you got an extra awesome deal! Enjoy it :)
Great video! Otso also does make a cheaper steel version of the Arctodus for a few pounds more. Same bike, just a different material.
I probably should’ve mentioned the steel Arctodus and the Voytek - thanks for the reminder :)
Yes! I did mention that sale
Currently I am installing a Lauf fork on my Farley 9.0 W.E.
Love your Content Alan!
🚴🏼🚴🏼🚴🏼🥶
Yummy :) Lauf 🤌
The Corvus portage handle is visible on every picture you show of it. It's that tube connecting the seat tube and seat stay below the seat cluster
Thanks for sharing 🤙
The new Akio 2.0 is beautiful!
Sure is!
Really enjoyed your latest fat bike video! There were some high groomed trails shown that were fantastic. What trails were they? I would love to put them on my bucket list.
Those trails are behind my house here in Idaho- you’ll have to come ride with me :)
Love my RSD MAYOR!

I have a 2023 Norco bigfoot and it awesome

The Otso Arctodus comes in a steel frame with carbon fork as well.

“Trading” for a Mukluk on close out this week 😁 I really like Salsa’s geometry so I’ll be trying to sell the Norco Bigfoot I started with
Awesome! Best of luck :)
What about the Giant Yukons? Comfortable geometry and good prices.

Great bike/build :) lots of great options out there - good luck in your quest 🙌
Surly ice cream truck should be added. It’ll adventure for sure, not exotic or light but a do it all.
They crack on the drive side chain stay & seat tube junction. No one should buy another ICT ever again.
Love my ICT. All my friends that try it are blown away by how fun and nimble it is for a chonker of a bike. Been on some long trips and never had a single concern or problem with the hardware.
@ agreed, surprisingly nimble!
Thanks for sharing 🤙
🎉🥳HAPPY BELATED GLOBAL FAT BIKE DAY!🥳🎉 Great video as always. Thank you for sharing. 😎
🙌🙌 thanks for watching :)
All fine bikes but I can't believe based on your criteria a Surly Ice Cream Truck didn't make the list.

I have ridden a Trek Farley 9.8 for the last 3 seasons. Great geometry and lightweight. Can ride year round.

@@DirtyTeethMTB thanks 😊
Is it absolutely necessary to turn the tires on my Farley tubeless to add studs? Thanks for you’re channel, knowledge and any help 😊
Good question. No, you don’t have to be tubeless to add studs. They sit in a little “pocket” and don’t penetrate through the tire or get anywhere near the tube :) Ride on!
It’s a shame that the revel big iron has been discontinued 😢
Agreed, although they were careful to say out of stock until fall 2025… 🤷
Excellent reviews. But as the owner of five bikes, videos like this always make me want to buy a few more! So please stop, LOL.
🤣🤣
Why stop at 5???? I have 8 and constantly eyeing new additions for my garage lol.
@IowaNinersFan you're not helping 😊
Tubeless and ultra low pressure winter riding are a terrible mix! After too many flats and aggravation when switching to/from studded fat tires, I said fuck tubeless forever on the fatbike and never looked back. Never had to push the bike back to the car since!
Sorry you’ve had trouble. Fatty strippers help. Thanks for sharing.
I have a Flume with 6000km on it.. It lighter with hed wheels than my friends carbon beargrease.
That’s awesome! Thanks for sharing 🙌 ride on :)
With low pressure the fat bike tyres use, I doubt the frame materials will make much difference in term of comfort.
Thanks for sharing your opinion
