    Can people with mechanical heart valve get on roller coaster and play sports. I was really active prior to me getting my mechanical heart valve. Thank you

      Sorry for the delay in responding. Patients who have mechanical valves can get on roller coasters. They can play sports however, you have to be more careful because as you know, if you get injured, you will bleed more than normal. I think anything in moderation is fine but you have to be more careful since you're on blood thinners.

      Sorry for the delay in responding. Some surgeons agree with you. Some surgeons add sternal plating to their sternal closures in addition to the wires not instead.

    Hello doc. I had open heart surgery because i had TGA when i was a kid. I always thought that my sternum was stapled back together. Or had at least metals holding it together. So it's wires??

    • @cardiacsurgerypatienteduca2445
      @cardiacsurgerypatienteduca2445  22 дня назад

      Hi, it depends on how old you were but most of the time wires are used. In very young kids wires are not used. You can tell if you ever had a recent chest X-ray or CT Scan of the chest.

      @@cardiacsurgerypatienteduca2445 OK. Speaking of age, i also want to ask you about why I got my surgery done at the age it was done. If I'm correct I got mines done at age 10. But the thing is that I heard TGA surgery is mostly done when the person in a baby. Because TGA is serious life threatening. If that's so, then why was mines done so late at age 10, and why didn't I die in between that age gap?? I know I would turn blue so that means I was old and running around so I must have gotten my surgery at age 10. Why wasn't mines done when I was a baby? And how did I survive without surgery for that long to age 10??

    Good night Dr. I recently had an aortic root replacement surgery. Can this be considered a coronary bypass surgery?
    How long do i have to wait before removing the wires?
    Is this procedure considered open heart surgery . Thanks very much

    • @cardiacsurgerypatienteduca2445
      @cardiacsurgerypatienteduca2445  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for the question. An aortic root replacement is not considered coronary artery bypass surgery. What you had is a lot more complex operation. There are significant differences in the operations. The sternal wires can be removed approximately 3-4 weeks after surgery without a problem but this should NOT be an elective procedure. The wires usually don't cause problems so I would only take them out if its required. Good Luck!

    Hi Doctor,i have some unusual question.I train hard,and i trained while i had corona virus 1 year ago.I got chest burning pain and i stopped.Later it showed there is no Heart or pulmonary problem.But it Hurted like burning for days inside the chest in both sides.But it happened something very unusal.After few days i got Hematoma like on the right side of the sternum,right where cartillage meets the Sternum Bone.Between 3. and 4. rib.Or maybe 2. and 3.So its up there.I done some stretching,that was 1 year ago.And Hematome just exploded inside.I didnt know nothing of it nor i went to Doctor.It hurted but i continue life.And after one month from that,in february last year,i warm that place on the heat,and when it got pretty warmed,i made some move and it just snapped so hurtly inside like the small rope if you pull it off.ANd it Hurts to this day.More than One year.I cant take any weight not 100 grams and when i tryed maybe 6 months ago,i got so sharp and burning pain like somebody wants to break me in half.And that happens like 10 times whenever i made a mistake to not be disciiplined to move very safly or to carry something for a moment in the right hand like glass of water,its dissasterous pain right where hematome was..I can move hand in any direction but smallest changes in move or rotation can cause big pain inside,and even 100 grams is big no no.My question is cause i feel it on the surface of the chest not deep,deep inside,where the organs are,if you can understand it,and not any kind of breath problem,or any dull pain,nothing of that,energy is there everything normal,just like i injure something again and again....can it be that Cartillage is injured badly or can it be that some Nerve is injured or maybe some Scar that is inside on the cartillage or even on nerve or something like that...cause the way it happened in the first place was,when i done some chest gymnastic position on the ground like push up but much harder with straight arms,thats when first burning occured...in all chest ,nobody diagnosed it even on Ct scan,2 times ,but i know something is injured there for very long and its so sensitive On that place.The hurting occurs also on slightest touch even after 1 year.But i Breath normal and everything,..it can hurted for days if i injured it again,than it lessen the pain,and all in the circles.Im just asking for your opinion can it be that injury of that stile could lasts so longif its Nerve,Cartillage? I had a frend who told me that he had injury on the same place from exercises like Dips with added weight that lasted like more than 2 years,even 3 ,and he didnt go to doctor.And what would you suggest how to see it, please> and Tnx>Its Big Problem for life..I can bet that it is njury cause it hurts on any mechanical moves or weight,or even if i move neck fast or unusal up and down,it can happen any time to feel the pain,only its less of pain when a lot of days i do ealmost nothing and be disciplined,but if i made so called Mistake ,here we go again......1 Year and 1 month that lasts....Im asking you cause you know anatomicaly whats lies just in that place and if its possible to heal itself or any other suggestion....

      Hi, I apologize for the delay in responding. It sounds like this problem has significantly impacted your quality of life. I personally think you need an aggressive work up with imaging and further testing. I'm a heart surgeon so although I'm familiar with the anatomy its hard to say why you're having your symptoms. I recommend that you go back to your primary care doctor and perhaps request a consult with a Thoracic surgeon who deals more with the chest wall than a heart surgeon. I apologize that I can't be more helpful.

    So I’m going on 2 months after open heart surgery and My questions is how long does it take before the soreness and what I can describe as stiffness in the chest? When will it feel normal again ?

    • @cardiacsurgerypatienteduca2445
      @cardiacsurgerypatienteduca2445  2 года назад

      Every person is different, but most patients will no longer have soreness or that stiffness after 2-3 months. As you increase your activity level you will initially feel more sore but over time it will get better. Please contact your surgeon if you don't see an improvement after 3 months.

    Hi Dr, why my son after vavle replacement for 25 days, wound infection happened!

    • @cardiacsurgerypatienteduca2445
      @cardiacsurgerypatienteduca2445  2 года назад

      Sorry for the delay in responding. Every patient situation is different. Most patients who develop infections during the first 30 days after surgery is usually because of a "break" in sterile technique during the surgery. I suspect that the infection occurred either in the operating room or shortly afterwards. I think it's best to discuss with your surgeon because the surgeon can give you more accurate details.

      @@siohkohli9461 Sorry for the delay in responding. I'm glad your son is doing well. A Stanford Type A dissection is a major medical emergency. We don't usually replace the aortic valve during that surgery. Your son will have to monitor and manage his blood pressure for the rest of his life. He may require blood pressure medication. High blood pressure can cause the remaining aorta to get larger.

    Why we feel chest stiffness after Bypass surgery

    • @cardiacsurgerypatienteduca2445
      @cardiacsurgerypatienteduca2445  2 года назад

      When the sternum is put back together its' important that the two halves of the sternum is stable and secure. The chest initially feels "stiff" or rigid but over time this with lessen and eventually the patient should feel back to normal. If the sternum is not put back together "tightly" or rigid, its' possible the sternum could come apart. The stiffness should improve with time but if it does not please contact your surgeon.
