Love the videos as always, your lawn truly is amazing! I am over here in the states and spring is right around the corner for us cool season grass lovers! I am looking to put down seed in the next few weeks but I was curious if I should throw down a pre-emergent before seeding or will it effect the seed? I really appreciate the help!
Hey, you can’t use pre-emergent if you are seeding. Either delay seeding to the fall, or look into a product called tenacity. Tenacity can be applied during seeding, and used as a pre-emergent if watered in. Albeit, not the same residual life as prodiamine and other traditional pre-emergent products. But it’s the only real option to limit weed populations if you want to seed. (Other than post-emerge products)
Hey Ben, I have had the same stihl mower for two years and love every thing about it. There is one thing I am not sure if you have noticed it also is that pushing on level ground, or incline the front dips/scalp compared to coasting down slope it's normal height. Seems soft when pressing on front of mower with foot, like 30mm diff with as little as just pushing it?
Wind is awful, I absolutely notice a difference in the appearance of my buffalo after a very windy day vs a non windy/nice sunny day. A good water always helps it bounce🤟🏻
Hey matey! what type of Water Sprinkler is that and where can i purchase one? - ive got Kikuyu at home (Melbourne north) and its looking rubbish! 27-3-24, unsure if to Dethatch or not
That stihl looked as bad as my 2 egos. 6 height settings. High, way too high and 4 cow paddock settings. What is it with US designed mowers? It goes to show you how well developed the Victa was in its day.
@@terryinozland great thinking. I'll try that. why they couldn't use a spring loaded arm and 20 notches is beyond me. most of the time I fire up the old Victa (which I do enjoy as it cuts so well)
You see the same thing in farm fields where the space is tight and the tractor has to turn around over ground that's already been seeded. Comes in thiiccc.
This has been great to follow along to as a noob. I oversowed regenerative rye two weeks ago today. I’ve had some patchy germination (we had 50mm rain over the two days post seeding) and our cat dug some seed up, so I threw some extra seed on Monday. I’m glad I can wait a bit longer (as your video answers) for the first mow so the extra seed has a chance. The weather here in NZ has cooled right off too. Another question- does Tenacity have a big effect on germination success? I put some down while seeding. My existing grass has gone slightly white but I know that’ll clear off. Cheers.
audio was great even with the wind man! was that done in post? I was also super proud about the shoutout you gave me about the soil tackifier. I've used your tips a ton and it was cool to lend a hand. Cheers Ben!
The self propel drive on mine just failed. Was never that happy with it's performance though. Too light on front, bounces around. Bogs down when working a bit harder. Doesn't mow very low. Drive would get stuck in gear when handle released which was a pain when pulling mower back. I think this is common. Replaced with the makita 40v. So far it does everything significantly better than the 510v
Off-topic question, but what bluetooth adapter are you using for your IEMs? I haven't seen something like that before and would love that for working outside this summer.
Hey Ben, What’s the latest I can drop rye seed down on the kik? I’m probably a month or so off on overseeding it and having the time to nurse it. Expect an order from me in the next few weeks haha Properties looking grouse!
As a Canadian watching your channel, when my neighbours tell me how amazing my lawn looks, I now say
“Ya, it’s looking schmick…eh?”
😂 love it
The front lawn is looking great.
The mighty rye is back cant wait for some double stripes🤙

To notice I guess travelling from drive to house direction for your yard. The eco switch may have been the thick bog down you mentioned

Can you over sow rye grass with a couch blend? Im wanting to starting getting rid of the rye grass and move into couch..
do all these same steps apply

Are you thinking on reviewing the electric mower at all Ben?
How do you rid the kyk so its straight rye?

U shaped bracket under the blade can lower it 3 mm. If that helps. Toro use one on their big zt units the council's use.

So bummed you didn’t bare hand any dog or goose poop, bro!
I’m sure there will be more poo incidents in future
Up the kuyu baby Woooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Looking forward to seeing that ryegrass colour pop 👌Lets GOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The thicker part is from when you poured the seed into the drop spreader! Saw that and thought will be interested to see what happens there!
Haha I was thinking the same thing 😂

Never would have thought about overseeing kik, do the same principles work with buffalo?
Yep! You can for sure. Can spray out with the same product. Lohnro
What the mower like for everyday use you reckon?

How often should you water after doing the over sow?
Back to keeping it moist all the time. Same process as before 👌🏽
