Oh yes! Their egg laying instincts are very strong! Sadly Picasso don't want to mate with her. I would like to get another kakariki male but I'm afraid they will fight.
@@CheekyKakariki In my opinion, I say do not take another male, maybe Picasso will be upset because he will be together, it has happened and I suffered from a severe depression, nevertheless do what you think
@@AOK1965-y7m Thank you for your suggestion. Oh no. I'm so sorry to hear that! 😢 Because that's also something I'm scared would happen. Some years ago I did bring home another male kakariki and Picasso really enjoyed his company. Sadly the male suddenly got acute sick with a stroke 😢💔 And I had to put him down at the vet to end his suffering. I still cry when I think about it. I only had him for a few months, but just like Picasso he was such a sweet little kakariki.

Aww, I don't blame you. It's not very easy to find info about kakarikis and their behaviour 😁 Just be prepared that female kakarikis hide and look for hidden nesting spots when they are mature. They can also get very hormonal and angry (especially if they have a nest). But like all birds, they just follow their natural instincts and are not visious at their core. So please take good care of her. Kakarikis are precious 😊
@@CheekyKakariki why does my female kakariki cry like a human?? We bought her two weeks ago and started doing one week ago we dont even have babies and she always cries its a lil annoying shes 6 months
@@CheekyKakariki hahahaha i have a kakariki . at first i couldn't understand this sound. i was afraid something was wrong hahha . but eventualy i understood my kakariki its a female due to this behaviour and loving the dark spots at my house , and she let me pet her right at this moment haha , thanks for this video
Has she laid eggs before? My 2 latest kaks were female. First time i ever had female bird. One instantly got hormonal and it was winter lol. She laid eggs but then laid even more and got egg bound so died :(. My other kak got hormonal and i then knew the signs of egg binding. I took to vets to save her in time and she's fine. I've worked closely with the vets arvice to make sure she doesn't get hormonal again. E. G. No potential nesting areas. And a sleep pattern to match winter and other things like a UV light, and supplements so the eggs can form. It's working great it's been spring and summer right now and she's been fine not hormonal. It always worries me tho. I am looking for a new kakariki for her to have a feathered friend. Think i should avoid getting a male so they don't mate though.
Maybe she don't have a very charming singing voice 😅 because sadly, not even Picasso is tempted to mate with her. I feel a little sorry for her. I had plans to maybe get another male kakariki but I'm afraid Picasso and a new Male will fight.

I bought a kakariki a year ago and it doesn’t make this noise yet his/her beak is pink, I think he’s fully grown, how can I tell if it’s a boy or a girl?
I remember being so confused when my female kakariki did this the first time 😂
My Karariki does this and spreads clear. I thought he was laughing. And he is dna male confirmed
Sound clear
My @KiwiTheCheekyKakariki JUST DID THIS on my shoulder! I'd been told she was a male! Hahaha Too funny!
when a female does this she wants to lay eggs with a male! 😂

If your kakariki is mature and don't make this sound then it's a boy :)
