One of the hardest things for me is the symptoms of early pregnancy are very similar to PMS so when you’re trying to conceive, it’s easy to torture yourself by thinking your symptoms are pregnancy when they’re actually period!

I think some people take longer to get pregnant than others. My brother and sister both had children when they wanted to, neither had trouble getting pregnant. My husband and I have been married almost 15 years and I'm 37 and he is 43. After all these years, we were just under the impression we couldn't have children. Imagine my surprise 8 weeks ago, I got a positive test.

Hi Ruth, I’m in school studying Holistic Reproductive Health. Yes, the term “infertile” is used to describe couples who have tried consistently for one year to get pregnant but have been unsuccessful. I highly recommend reading “Taking Charge of Your Fertility” by Toni Weschler. There is a practice called Fertility Awareness that is easy to learn in which you chart your three primary Fertility signs and corroborate them each day to determine whether you are fertile.

Thank you so much for this. I really appreciated it so much. I was the one that asked about staying sane for a second pregnancy after a missed miscarriage. I intend to have more frequent early scans next time. I had two before I found out the baby died. One at 6.5 weeks and one at 8 weeks. And then the dreaded 12 weeks when I found out the bad news. I think I will go for scans every second week. Just for my sanity you know? Thank you Ruth!!
I wanted to mention that it helps so much to hear about missed miscarriages and infertility. You feel like you’re not alone. I just finished reading Maggie O’Farrell’s I AM I AM I AM and there’s a chapter in this memoir called baby and bloodstream about her missed miscarriage. It was so healing for me. Made me feel less crazy for all the weird thoughts I was having “am I still pregnant if the baby is dead inside me?”, etc. I highly recommend it if you want to. It made me really feel seen and understood. Sending you hugs. Thank you for opening up your heart to us.

I casually tried for two years. Had a chemical pregnancy and didn’t want to have another. Got ovulation tests afterward and found out I ovulate late...like day 18-20. I got pregnant that month and have an 18 month old now. Ovulation tests are so helpful!

I'm not infertile as i conceived for 3 times. I had many complications while getting pregnant. I was pregnant but resulted in miscarriage everytime. So now i have decided to go for surrogacy now. We have contacted a clinic for our surrogacy. Soon we will have our appointment with the clinic and we will move there. Good luck everyone.

Hey. Thank you for sharing this. Infertility is so hard to deal with. I can understand your situation. From my first marriage, I had many complications while getting pregnant. But later I conceived for 3 times and resulted in miscarriage every time. Then I started looking out for the alternatives to have a baby. Then I came to know about surrogacy. I went to the suggested clinic in Europe. I have my own biological baby now through Surrogacy. And I am so blessed.

Ruth, this is so relevant to me. I'm 29 years old, got pregnant naturally very very quickly and lost my little baby boy at 20 weeks+1day. The worst day of my life was finding out on our scan that day that there was no heartbeat. I wont go on too long, but acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine helped A LOT. Like you, I thought I was healthy but actually I wasn't. I also found out I have factor V leiden gene that makes me prone to blood clots (probably how we lost little baby). My point is, if you are struggling or need help please please please give chinese medicine a shot. I just read a few books (emma cannon Fertile to name a few) and just that only made a BIG difference. Im getting my health back on track before trying for baby n.2 in 6 months time. Lots of love to everyone out there struggling, you are not alone.

I’ve had 2 second trimester miscarriages - twins most recently. Really refreshing to see this in my feed - it can be so frustrating to not have an answer of why it happens after all tests come back fine. Thanks for sharing this.
I too began Chinese herbs and acupuncture for a whole summer before naturally conceiving twins. Normally a skeptic, but I totally think there is something to it.

Thanks for sharing! I'm not a doctor, but I remember reading that given 10 years, over 90% of couples conceive (without treatments), so it seems that the infertility label is really just something that is needed in order to get treatments going...interesting.
Also I felt exactly like you said when I went to my ob to start with IUIs, he even told me "Stop worrying because we're going to get you pregnant"... needless to say I burst into tears right then and there, poor dr! For me, it was definitely the right choice to get medical help!

That story about spotting was scary! I was the opposite, my first pregnancy was ectopic, and I've had an early Ultrasound before I find out it wasn't vital. So for two weeks I believed I was pregnant and then I found that it wasn't meant to be. Both next pregnancies I wanted to have as little predicting or contact with doctors as possible. I hated when with my #2 a doctor tried to fear me into more tests or something. I was afraid of getting afraid, paranoid and worried )))

Great video. Thank you. I’ve had 5 and 2 healthy babies! It’s a very hard road sometimes, but we got to walk it with courage. Good luck to all ladies out there trying. I’ve done it late in life. There is hope! Keep the faith and do everything you can to help your body conceive and grow a baby. First thing is drop caffeine, alcohol. Use ovulation tests. Take your temperature - it is really not hard and gives you a sense of control. Look into supplements - basic like vitamin B and D, FOLATE (NOT folic acid, some can’t absorb it). And others like vitex, and dong quai. And try castor oil compresses to improve blood flow. Research!

There are loads of studies and it depends on ages of the male and female but they say if you’re having unprotected sex, 95% of couples conceive within 24months, 75% within 6 months, 90% within 12 months.

The weight thing is funny though, I weighed 56 kgs when I got pregnant with my first baby, then during breastfeeding I lost some more weight and got to 52 kgs. We started trying for a second baby, but had no success for a few months, then my weight suddenly started going up, I was having a crazy appetite out of nowhere.... I soon got to 56 kgs again, and next month - boom - I got pregnant... :) so I think there is like a minimum weight my body needs for conceiving.

Naturelo Prenatals and adding Thorne Methylguard Plus after bfp is what I am trying as I have had ten miscarriages....only four of those smaller than eight weeks....and I suspect I have MTHFR gene mutations which is associated with recurrent miscarriage, anxiety induced fro. miscarriages, anemia (low B12 absorption), low vitamin D3 absorption (weak bones).

Thanks for this video 🙏🏻 I just had my first pregnancy and miscarriage 4 months ago... I have a question about your miscarriage... after having 2 beautiful kids, do you often pause and think about your 1st one? and if so, do you have a ritual to remember him/her?👼🏻

    • @DoctorAnne
      @DoctorAnne 6 лет назад +4

First of all: I am sorry for your loss. I, too, had a miscarriage with my first one and now, five years and two healthy children later, I still think of him (I don´t know which gender it was, I just always refer to it as him). I had named him with a silly name back then, not one that I had actually given him after birth, and I use it still. But just in my mind, my husband doesn´t really understand why I remember anyway. It only happens once in a while, maybe four times a year, and it doesn´t make me sad, just a little melancholic. I guess it depend on when you loose the kid. I lost him at 9 weeks, only a short time after I had found out I was pregnant. I guess it is harder when you loose them later on, after they started moving and your body really changed. i hope you don´t mind me stepping in here, clearly you didn´t ask me for my experience, but I thought it might interest you anyway.

I know that people have probably heard of this one but if it could help someone it’s worth trying! The month that I did this I fell pregnant (I didn’t do it the other months) After you have had sex turn around and put your legs against the wall and lay down for 20 minutes or more (instead of standing up straight away and going to the toilet). Update - I found out I got pregnant last Saturday after 3days after my missed period! Just one month after I started Chinese medicine treatment!

This was so close home! My first pregnancy was a miscarriage as well, then, when pregnant with my first boy I got spotting and that scared the life out of me. My second successful pregnancy was a scary one, I had to be in bed for a month a the end of it because I was anemic and the doctor thought I might have an early delivery, but all turned out fine and I have now two healthy teenage boys who are the light in our lifes. I'm glad you shared your story in such an honest and thorough way, thank you.

You felt “seen” by the acupuncturist i bet. I had a great experience with acupuncture myself for thyroid. And perhaps fertility?? 🤷🏼‍♀️☺️

Thank you for sharing, Ruth. Regarding ovulation, when I married a Catholic, I was astonished to discover that there was an abundance of easily available information distributed by the church regarding ovulation. In retrospect, that is not so astonishing, but certainly my own mother had never said a word to me about it, nor had I learned about in school. I had no idea when I ovulated.
After reading a small, simple pamphlet on the subject of cervical mucus, I have know without a doubt every month since then when I ovulate. It is really very easily discernible without any special effort when using the loo. I know there is information online. It makes me sad that so many women aren't given this simple information about their own bodies. This isn't an advertisment for Catholicism by the way...divorced now. My intention is to be helpful, I hope I haven't done it awkwardly.

Yes, absolutely. It's so important yet I feel like there's so much advice out there saying stuff like "do it every other day throughout the month just to be sure!" I can tell you that doing it every other day for SIX YEARS would not be feasible! : )

Dear Ruth, Thanks for your warm-hearted story. I have gone through several rounds of IVFs in the past 2 and half years, and unfortunately it has not worked so far. I want to ask if you still have the Chinese Doctor's contact information, and if so, do you mind sharing it with me? As a Chinese myself, I would love to have an appointment with him to try out Chinese medicine to help my pregnancy, like it did with you. Lots of love, Lily

Definitely not an expert, just a nurse, but the label of infertile is so stigmatised and really blame heavy that to stick it on people after an arbitrary period of time can be quite damaging in and of its self by the stress it induces. Stress is one of the biggest hormonal cock up inducers that can stop ovulation and send you into a downward spiral of depression and unhealthy sleeping and eating behaviours which also have a significant impact on fertility. We hate the term in nursing, it’s also horrifically dehumanising

Ruth Crilly that’s so bad. I watch your video until the end. Such a heart touching story I ever watch on RUclips. I realized that woman is really helpless. The can do nothing. An infertile woman is full of heartbroken stories. She loses hope and then again make up her zeal to do. I am really inspired by your efforts. Please don’t cry again.

Kids are a real blessing of God. Everone wants to be parents. But this problem has been eliminated from the world. Science has made such advancements through which everybody can enjoy this blessing. Thanx to the procedure. Especially surrogacy which is most powerful of all.

Wow. Your story is so inspiring. You are a beautiful and strong woman. And your children are beautiful. I have seen many people struggle through getting pregnant. Some don't get pregnant for 1 year some do not get pregnant upto 10/15 years. But it happens. But i hope people take a message from your story

Indeed, it's so obvious. We are not the person who is confronting barrenness. Numerous individuals are confronting barrenness. You and I are one of them. I confronted fruitlessness for a long time and still, I am. In any case, two years’ prior I took a critical choice in my life. I went for surrogacy for purpose of my DH's satisfaction. We put it all on the line and now we are having a cheerful existence. I am content with my choice I took. I am upbeat in light of the fact that my better half is cheerful. We have our infant now that simply turned multi-year. I wish that each couple may have such blessings.

I’ve just had my first baby after multiple miscarriages (all at Whipps X, as it happens!) but cried my eyes out over this video. There’s so much I could say, but tbh just want to say thank you for adding such quality content to this very painful search term. You’ll be helping people long after its publish date.

Medical in the US is a bit different as they just pill push. I find stress is the number one issue with ladies marked infertile. TCM with a good practitioner can be helpful and I applaud your honesty and John was correct... why would your body sustain another life if you weren’t supporting and nurturing yourself? You took a step back and started caring for yourself and then things changed. Congratulations on both of your beautiful children 😘

You're definitely a strong woman. May you stay that way. Infertility has affected so many people. I wish you didn't have to go through this. It's such a blessing, however, that we have options for this at this time. I hope you find your happiness.
