We just returned from Spain to the Outer Hebrides on Saturday with our camper van. Spent five weeks touring south of Alicante and never saw a drop of rain. Weather was superb - unlike here today! Keep up the good work.
Thank you😊. Yeah, it always seems to me that the last two weeks in Jan is where further up the coast can be a bit more variable. We're in Cambrils now mid Feb and it's lovely. Had a massive amount of seafood though and feeling a bit Pat and Mick😟 Good seafood, it's me that's the problem🙂. Rhona says I never learn! Cheers, Brian and Rhona.
Thank goodness for good books, an entertaing video, tasty beverages and comfy food on those trapped in the camper days. Thanks for taking me along on your journey.
Thanks Pam🙂. At home we're mostly camping in this kind of weather of course, but it's just nice to have nothing else to do sometimes. Cheers, Brian and Rhona
Hi folks, love your vids my wife is asking what I'm laughing at sitting with headphones on!Totally agree about the free standing awning,we had a drive away type which fitted on the fiamma we often wished we could move it into the sun on colder days. You cover the stuff most other vloggers don't so keep up the good work.Enjoy A
Thanks very much for that😊. I think we're not really capable of being proper vloggers, but it's nice to try and save other people a bit of time and money? And it's memories for us I think. No idea really🙂 Cheers, Brian and Rhona.
I like your self deprecating humour but this was very interesting. We were near Gandia in the rain last Monday. So we decided to come home over 4 days (it helps being only an hour from Folkestone). It was enjoyable to have time to get off the motorways. Hope the sun comes out for you soon
Hi May, thank you🙂 It seems to be picking up a bit now. Hopefully we'll get some better weather before we head home! I think the biggest surprise we got when we first came to Spain in a January was how not hot it was. In fact I'm still wearing the fleece I bought in Cambrils Lidls in desperation😉 Cheers, Brian and Rhona.
Hi Jacqui, thank you🙂. When we were motorcycle touring, we didn't have to think about access roads and pitch size. We found some family owned campsites which had been around since the fifties. Of course they were designed for tents and very small units back then. We like that the 6m van is small enough to still use these sites easily. I hope you have a great trip! Cheers, Brian and Rhona.
Thanks for telling it like it is! Look forward to your next vlog. I'm in Spain too at the moment and have to say this is the worst spell of weather I've experienced in 12 years of coming out in my van at this time of year. But hey - its a great country!
We’ve just subscribed and enjoy all the vlogs. Following with interest as we plan our trip over in October. Like yourself we used to travel on the motorcycle to MotoGps and Superbikes around Europe. I may have missed you saying but what actual sites have you stayed at and would you recommend? Keep doing what your doing. Andy & Bev
Thanks Andy and Bev😊. I know people have recommended campsites to us and we didn't like them at all! But our favourites in Spain (sometimes just because of easy access to a city) are, Camping Monmar in Moncofa (for a total chill out). Camping La Llosa in Cambrils ( easy walk into Cambrils, and bus to Tarragona and Salou). Camping La Escorial near Madrid (easy bus into Madrid) Camping Alto de Vinuelas near Granada (easy bus to Granada, and looks over to the Sierra Nevadas). Camping Los Madriles near Isla Plana (another chill out) Up in Northern Spain in the Picos de Europa mountains we like Camping La Viorna, on the edge of Potes. But to be honest I don't think we've ever been on one that didn't have something to like🙂 Cheers, Brian and Rhona.
Hi Alan, thanks🙂. It's odd but at least on the places we go most people who are Winter longstaying don't use an awning at all (although there are a few). If they use anything it's a little free standing shelter like we use. I think it's because the weather is usually decent enough that it's not required and your actually looking to free up more sunny pitch space. Also you can position a shelter to best advantage. The Spanish semi-permanents pretty much always have full awnings but that's to provide shade at the height of summer I think. Cheers, Brian and Rhona.
Hi guys I would still love to be in Spain with rain , I'm sitting here looking out my window at the neighbours lol. Keep living your best you have worked hard for the lifestyle on wards and upwards 😉
Hi Angela, thanks for the comment🙂. Yeah we think that it doesn't matter how bad the weather is, just being somewhere different is great! Cheers, Brian and Rhona
Could you fit solar panels etc to limit the amount of electric you need or use solar lamps for lighting etc and like camping stove for cooking, just wondering if it will lower costs.
Hi Sarah🙂. Yeah all of that would help. It's pretty much what we do where electricity is charged on top. But when electricity is included we make full use of that of course. Cheers, Brian and Rhona

Hi Christine, thanks very much for that😊. It's a great country, no matter where you go.

love the video ,why dont you have a fixed awning.

You are not the first to crack those boiled eggs into a pan🤣
Hi Graham🙂 Sad thing is it was the second time I had done it within a few days!
