In LOVE with the Huss and Dalton TDM! What an amazing sound.
Sounds beautiful! Love the story behind it to! Thanks for sharing with us all.
Cool deal, Jeremy! Sounds so sweet too! Congratulations, man!!
Wow what an amazing instrument, and it’s awesome that you got a good deal on It. It’s also cool that it has a story that matches up with yours. It’s almost as if the guitar chose you! It sounds spectacular and I’m looking forward to hearing it in future videos. Cheers!
Great video as always Jeremy! Keep both guitars!
Love your channel, so interesting.
Amazing sound. Always kool too have an old guitar to pass on with a great story
Love your channel Mr guitar hunter!! I bought a pre-owned southerner jumbo 3 years ago... It was about 6 years old and the more I play it, the better it gets! It talks as well.. '' Play me... Play me... '' This guitar thing is addictive..... Well it shows no signs of abating after 50 years....
It’s a beauty - enjoy !!!
What an amazing price on a guitar like that - and yes, a keeper!! Love your videos man!
What a keeper! My Huss & Dalton TD-R Custom with Adirondack Spruce is literally a cannon! I love Huss and Dalton guitars!
I met Huss and Dalton at a Bluegrass festival in Greensboro NC in 1996 when they were first getting started. Their guitars have only gotten better. Saw them again in Raleigh last year at IBMA and they had some incredible guitars.
wow...sounds fabulous!
Wow! You turned the Covid lockdown from a glass half empty to a glass half full. That's a very sweet guitar with an interesting history. I love the fact that you know the builders and live in their neck of the woods. Good acquisition!
I was born near where I now live, moved away when I was six and returned at 43 ( i'm now a few weeks from 60). I've fallen in love again with where I'm from and will never leave. So your story resonated immediately with me, as did the sound of that beautiful guitar. Closer to a Martin than say, a Collings. Heavenly. I'd never get one that cheap over here in the UK, sadly.
God I love those tuners Jeremy...I recently put the grovers opens on...I wish I would have held out saved for waiverlys...nice guitar brother
Great Guitar Jeremy! I'm looking at a 2011 Martin 000 Special tomorrow with Rosewood back and sides. It is also nearly a 4 hour drive. If I don't chicken out! Thanks again...
It's awesome when you find a used guitar that you love and can get it at the right price too. I just got a wonderful Martin OM-21 that was a couple of years old but in mint condition. It's my forever acoustic guitar for sure. It sounds and plays better than any other acoustic I've touched.
I LOVE OM21's! What a great find!
Great guitar! Like that Jason Isbell tune you threw in there too!
Very nice video and guitar. If I can be of any help here's my Huss and Dalton and J-45 story: I acquired a new J-45 which was great and had easy action, and my first serious guitar. 2+ years later, while looking for a Tony Rice large soundhole type of dreadnought, I came across a new Huss and Dalton D-RH which was one of the nicest acoustics I had ever tried out. It was reasonably priced at the time and I decided to buy it with some apprehension as it was over my budget. Fast forward three years and I can't put it down, the guitar is just wonderful. The J-45 was excellent in all respects, but I was so happy with the H+D that when I saw a H+D DS Crossroads (mahogany) listed on Reverb I thought I could try to replace the J-45 with it as they are, essentially, the same guitar. The exchange fell through initially as the owner was reluctant to part with it. I suppose this was the best indication of it being a good guitar since I couldn't actually try it, the other being builder reputation. The owner came back four months later to ask me if I was still interested. I managed to sell the J-45 within two days and get the Crossroads. And oh my, the Crossroads is simply incredible and dare I say it, far superior than my J-45., an amazing instrument. I feel real lucky, privileged and humble to look after them and play them. Enjoy your beautiful guitars Jeremy and keep us updated! :-)
Lovely guitar, man.
Your voice is kind of relaxing to listen to
I have the same guitar, but with the Adirondack top. It's a 2007. It was almost new and I got a really good deal. I've had it about 12 years. Great sound.
Very nice sounding guitar.
One of THE best makers in all the land!
I am so close to buying a very slightly used Froggy Bottom dread. Boutique guitars are pricey, but if you snag the right one, you buy once and cry once. Love that H&D. They make some amazing guitars. Keep rockin' Jeremy!
Froggy Bottom! Now we're talkin! I've found two bourgeois locally but they're both pricey. $3000'ish
The FB asking price is low $5k's, so it isn't chump change for a guy like me...I am also considering a Boucher BG-52 I found for $1300 less. Both are outstanding. You got a great deal on the H&D. A little wear is a good thing IMO. God bless man
That's a hell of a nice guitar
Congratulations Jeremy. That guitar is you.
I heard you sneak in that Different Days riff by Jason Isbell!
Awesome story and guitar! What did you use for your guitar mic setup, sounds so clean like I'm there with you.
Great sounding guitar. I am not familiar with that brand. I don't think there are many of them up here in Canada. Looks and sounds like a keeper to me.
Hi Jeremy, I have a Martin OO-18 and it’s fantastic sound just keeps getting better all the time. I’ve always thought Huss&Dalton had a great tone. I’ve played many guitars and always go back to that traditional sound of Martin, however I’d like to have a H&D some day. Nice sounding guitar dude. I like it!
I have a Martin D-28, HD-28 and a guitar that is essentially a D-28 marquis spec wise and soon a second with the same specs as my first custom but with ADI/BRAZ, made by Dave Nichols at custom pearl inlay in Malone NY. when my second Nichols custom gets here. i will be doing a comparison. Not sure if youd consider his as boutique but they sure are awesome.
Spectacular guitar Jeremy! I prefer RW on my T-0014R but Mahogany on Dreadnought. Do yourself a favour & get a *H&D* T-0014 for finger picking on the couch. Stunning!
Keep both guitars! It's nice to have a natural top and a shaded top!
You get it. Haha. I was looking at both of them today and has that same thought.
As an owner of a Huss & Dalton, I have noticed they dont hold their value as well as other boutique guitar manufacturers.
And that is due to the prevalence of these other brands & their widespread choice with those we consider superior musicians NOT because they are better instruments, IMO. (as a H&D owner also)
Didn't you get a recipe for the guitar? Awesome video thanks for sharing. Stay well and safe my friend.
The guitar is an excellent guitar that has come to Japan not a little.
very expensive guitar though. I think it's a good choice👍
Can you do more of finger style with a Taylor mini?
You didn't get a "deal" on this guitar as you got a "steal"!
That top is a beautiful piece of spruce. I'm actually amazed that someone has $2000 in the bank.
Dave Ramsey baby! Cash is King.
What's a good strap button? I've not noticed a cheap version vs a good one.
what is the neck profile on that? I like a nice C shape. they seem to be getting more rare. Eastman delivers a c profile. Martin, gibson and Taylor have all gone slim. CRAMP!!
I have the option to buy a Dowina Cocobolo GAC but it's been stored in really cold conditions for a few months without humidity control.
It seems fine but worried about any later problems.
Good price though.
Would appreciate any thoughts or advice.
really enjoyed the songs you played at 0.45 and the last song (open tuning?). Are these songs you wrote?
That one is Different Days by Jason Isbell. but there's also all kinds of riffs and songs that I've written mixed in to these videos.
Is this guitar a Sitka soruce top?
I found a used H&D TDR Custom on Craigslist, torrefied Adi top, one small ding on the back. I kept missing the replies to my emails because they went to Spam, I figured it had been sold. Saw it again on CL for $100 less, finally got in touch and drove ( like a bat out of hell ) 4 hours from just south of Richmond, Va. to Kensington, Maryland. Paid $2650, great deal, great guitar. H&D makes as fine a guitar as you could want, keep looking, be prepared jump when you find a good used one.
What a deal!
@@JeremySheppard Here's a darn near identical H&D, made about the same time. ruclips.net/video/VeaPoF9byS0/видео.html
This guitar sounds as good as anything you can find! What strings do you have on it?
This has Daddario EXP Mediums.
Jeremy Sheppard I ordered some mediums today. I need to start lifting iron to toughen up, ha!
You gotta get your hands on a Larrivee or two. Best kept secrets in American made Guitars.
Seriously! I've owned 4 Larrivee's and they are wonderful.
Isn't very normal and the rule that the buyer pays all the shipping? Yes there can be exceptions to the rule as in any transaction.
In my opinion the J-45 is the best sounding guitar you've had on the channel. Also remember the amazing video you uploaded right after saying it was your dream guitar? Keep the J-45 if you can afford both.
What about Martin Custom Shop compared to a/your Huss and Dalton? And price/depreciation?
That's a good question, I've not owned enough CS from Martin to know for sure.
Hi, I enjoy your videos very much. It’s all subjective, right? I find boutique guitars to be too chimey. My D28 does it for me. Do you know any others with that kind of tone? Would love to know. Thanks.
It's mostly subjective. Boutique guitars are very diverse so you can find whatever you want. The D28 is the most common type of boutique guitars. Here's a video I did about them.

a 1:1 with the j45 would be nice
I'm filming it this week.

Why not just keep both? When you are wanting something different you pull out the other 😉 and it saves you money later on.
This guy gets it. Haha
Keep both that is my opinion.
I had a chuckle when you said you like a guitar with dings and dents. I love buying used and am learning that a little wear and tear makes me feel good. Maybe I'll raise my hand when you sell the J-45. We won't have to travel far :)
I'd rather buy a loved guitar over a new guitar ANY day......
I learned long ago that when I find a used guitar that has a fair amount of wear, chances are good that it is a great guitar.
Hi Jeremy I live in Toronto Canada and I would like a used H&D, Collings, Thomson or Froggy bottom used guitar. Rosewood and with a 1 13/16 neck. I will send the money in advance because I think I can trust you.
Is there an email I can reach you at?
It's a beauty...but...my ear heard the J45 a tad bit sweeter. Still...congrats.
Maybe Molly Tuttle will sell hers cheap. She rarely plays it anymore.
Do you travispick? Or just strum...
Oof lol
Didn't you once have a Huss and Dalton and sold it? If so, why did you get another one?
I had a very bassy, D28 style guitar. This is mahogany and built very differently. This might be my perfect guitar.
You must have a very understanding wife. When ever I buy a new guitar I have to employ all kinds of very considered and subtle diplomacy! Great sounding guitar by the way.
Thank you for not slapping and bongo playing on the guitar.
J45
It's stick with buying from reliable stops. N less chances for things to go"wrong". E.g. crook lures unsuspecting guitar buyer with $2000 to parking lot... No one around..
Sorry, but to me THAT guitar sounds far better than the gibson. That h&d will do anything you will ever need an acoustic to do. I’d say the search is over.. You’ve finally got your dream acoustic guitar. Sell the gibson.
