  • Hey everyone! We've noticed you all are digging the showdowns, so we're here with another one. Jesse runs you through the differences in sound between the Huss & Dalton TOM-R and the Collings OM2H A. Both guitars are the companies' Orchestra Models, featuring an Adirondack Spruce (or Red Spruce) top and Rosewood back and sides. More info on the two guitars below. Enjoy!

    I like the Huss! It’s got a complex, thicker sound I could explore forever. The Collings is great, but a bit thin and mid rangy.

    Both superb sounding guitars,, but to me, the Huss had more clarity of each individual notes.. Great demo. Loved it. Thanks. Colin.

    Both guitars are great but I loved the aged tone of the Huss & Dalton thermo cured top. That would be a guitar that would be hard to put down.

    Collings for me. Huss and Dalton of course very nice too! I'll take both thank you very much!

    At this level all of these guitars are wonderful....certainly comes down to small personal preferences. I have played guitars by both builders, and personally own a H&D OO torrefied Sitka and sinker mahogany.....my favorite guitar by far. If I had the money would also get a Collings.

    The Huss and Dalton has that "old" tone right out of the box, but the overtones are still prominent. I would describe the tone of the Huss and Dalton as a bit drier than the Collings. The Collings definitely sounds like a new guitar, but the tone is rich and the overtones are not as overbearing like their standard models. For me, I would go with the Collings based on resale value and looks alone. If I didn't care about resale value, the Huss and Dalton sounds best to me in this comparison.

    I like the Collings. It sounds much sweeter and cleaner to my ears. I'd love to see comparisons between Collings, Santa Cruz and Martin OM.

    Both great guitars. To my ear, the Collings has a sweeter, chimey tone, and the H&D is a bit more muscular and rich. They're both super complex and would probably accommodate a wide range of playing styles. I'd be very happy with either one -- but if I HAD to choose one I'd go with the Huss & Dalton. It's just a bit earthier, which appeals to my personal taste. THANKS for the awesome comparison demo.

    They’re both in the top one percent. It’s comes down to the one you like best. They both sound great through headphones.

    The Collings sounds louder and w. quite a portion more trebles. Since you seem to have played the Collings w. a pick for a longer stretch, it's hard to tell wether the Collings sounds more trebly or the Huss sounds more dull. Kind of a half full or half empty question imo. One would have to play them and decide based on your very own ears' capability of hearing. And then there is preferrence. My conclusion is that I wouldn't make a final decision based on this video alone. Besides that, the video is well done and a great first impression on the differences of these two fine guitars.

    Surprisingly, the Huss and Dalton seems to have more reverb and shimmer, and to sound warmer at the same time. The Collings a bit brighter, as to be expected, and punchier. Needs to open up. Great comparison!

    I liked the Huss and Dalton but the Collings may catch up in time. Ought to have a similar wood Santa Cruz in there. Thanks for the demo, about all I can afford is a Martin.

    I think they both sound incredible, but give a slight edge to the Collings. (I may be biased, being from Texas)

  • @harryharris1619
    @harryharris1619 Год назад +1

    The Collings seemed a bit on the harsh side of things. Not terrible but a little more strident than the H&D which seemed warmer. Would have to play both myself to make any real determination on what would be right for me.

    Just a matter of taste on this level of build. If you offered me one based on just this video, I'd go with the H&D. But I'd really have to play them myself to know.
