Just a cheap and effective way to mount your vice, make a plate that it bolts to then weld the plate to I think it’s 3x3 or 2x2 square stock and make it so you you slide it into a hitch of a truck. You can make it as close or as far to the hitch on the truck as you want
Check your center pins in your leaf pack it may be sheared that would cause your rear end to shift forward. Had the same problem on my f350 I have the overload springs extra if need
A really good spring shop can work wonders. If you have a repair shop for the UPS trucks in your area,ask them if they know of a good spring shop. When i drove the company was always using a local spring shop and we seemed to have no issues with the repairs done. Just a suggestion that could save you a few green backs. Love your channel!
Nick, a reputable spring shop can take springs and rebuild them to OEM specifications. If tyou were in Dallas, I would encourage you to contact Weaver Spring & Brake. I've seen them work magic on seemingly impossible projdects. They specialized in adjusting ride heights on even new vehicles and added one leaf to each side of my pickup to allow me to tow my gooseneck trailer. I'll guarantee you that UPS has a shop that does their work . There must be at least one shop where you live.
The leaf might have something to do with the way it's tow in. I'm not 100% on it but I have seen rear tow affected by incorrect leaf springs after someone tries to replace one that broke and don't do them in pairs. Hopefully it works out! So close too.
I'm really REALLY hoping that's the case, I'm measuring everything right now and pulled both leafs off, making a video as well today, will try to upload Sunday evening. Will be working on it till 2am prob lol
What size were those bolts you bought for the spring hanger? I've been trying to replace my bushings, but I can't get the bolts out so I will probably have to grind those rivets off.
Nick go hit a junk yard or head up to Hisperia there are a ton of you pick it junk yards up there. Go grab a 350 leaf spring and a rear end. Take your old stuff with you I'm sure they will buy it from you.
Do You keep these cars? because if you do that's pretty cool like you could have the Chevy Silverado as a normal family truck this truck for off road and long trips (I do the know if dispel I cheaper in the states but it is here in Canada) and that van you fixed for work or transporting house furniture and whatever other car you have fixed (I have only seen those things yet I found this yesterday morning) you can do something else with
Dude so many things wrong it's scary. You always always ALWAYS replace the u bolts when doing leaf springs. That's a huge safety risk. Those bolts stretch and weaken over time and that truck was in a pretty decent accident. Two....the wood blocks. That's just scary. One shift and that truck is falling off the jack. If your jack isn't big enough get a bigger one or take it to a shop.
U bolts can be reused, with such a big hit if they didnt break they wont break just driving around normally, plus when tightening them to spec they will be fine

Need to throw in a matching pair of springs. One that is flat is worn out and sagging, or a lot softer.

Take the springs to the spring shop and they will rearche them. The axle on the driver side might be bent
driver side is fine, but i will take it to alignment and get it all checked out

im not sure what size they are, i got them with the leafs, you mean like overall length?

No I can't afford to keep everything I fix, I fix keep and if find another good deal then I fix that and decide which one to sell
the spring rate will be different because of the load capacity should have got the correct 350 springs in the first place

Takebthe truck to alocal frame shop you'll find that rhe truck got hit harder than first thought
Yea I'll have the frame checked out but it's likely fine and it's mostly the rear end that's bent
