    Hi Angie, I'm a Chemist, I work in the pharmaceutical industry, and really gotta say that you indeed give amazing information to your you-tubers fans. The only thing in my personal opinion as chemist, is that you put too much products on your face in the night time routing. Retine-A by it self should be enough and Im really surprise that your skin can actually takes all those product with the Retin-A. Again in my humble opinion, I would just wash the face (Cera V cleansers) and while is still wet apply hyaluronic acid such as (Hada Labo, Timeless, Neutrogene Hydro boost), those are humectants and they hydrate your skin. Then apply moisturize such as Cera V PM and then apply Retin-A. The rational about this is that your skin is already hydrated it and moisturized and more receptive and ready to receive the active ingredient in the Retin-A which is tretinoin. The chemical process that takes place once the Retin-A is apply on the skin has been studied since the 70's, and was first FDA approved for acne. Now we have enough data that demonstrate that tretinoin indeed not only treats acne, melasma and hyper-pigmentation, but can also reverse wrinkles and improve skin health. Overall I think you are doing and amazing job informing people and sharing your knowledge and what works for you.

I pretty much follow your regime morning and night and use most of the same products ( I even started your exercise suggestions too!) and boy have I seen a change for the better. You are my anti-ageing Guru and I can’t thank you enough for all the studies and hard work that you have accomplished on my behalf. None of this Stuff lengthens your Telomeres ... So Whats the Point ?

    • @anne853
      @anne853 2 года назад +1

      @@matthewnelson325 I know I’m 2 years late, but the point is to reduce cellular damage. Retinoids and other topical active ingredients improve the function and appearance of dermal cells. Although they don’t affect telomere shortening with cell division, they can reduce cellular damage and destruction.
      It’s akin to how cessation of smoking or alcohol abuse can increase the longevity and function of different body systems and overall life span. It doesn’t increase telomere length, but it does reduce damage to tissue structure and function, which means cells (or the whole person) are less likely to breakdown and die earlier than normal.

    I'm only mentioning this out of personal experience and because you have a lot of people watching who are of child-bearing age that want to begin anti aging early. I had acne issues for years and finally tried Differin. It totally started working to clear my skin and wasn't irritating at all. Long story short I found out that it isn't safe if you're pregnant or planning to become pregnant - as I think a lot of acne medications aren't. My dermatologist failed to mention this when I inquired and actually played it down, saying that people are paranoid. Yet, another doctor told me the exact opposite. So if you're of that age just be careful with that stuff and likely any of these other products I'm guessing. Angie, I know your audience is mostly older and not so worried about this anymore but like I said, a lot of us want to start protecting and caring for our skin early. Thought it was worth a mention.

    Hi Angie, I'm 73, and just started retin A this last summer. I have always used sun screen, but after trying retin a, in my forties, one time, darn it, I didn't know how to use it so stopped after first tube. I know it's really late, but I watch all you ladies on utube since summer, and have learned so much, and I'm really enjoying the great skin care that I'm doing. It's fun, and even tho it is late in life, what if I live to be 100? I might look really great.😄 Ha Ha I also derma roll, and lots of great oils and serums and essence products. I have learned makeup tricks for older ladies as well. Love watching you beautiful women.

And OMG having a review for a Staple Product that you can buy at the drugstore is AMAZING. Thank you so much, Angie... For reviewing, trying, testing and explaining all these products to us. Janice Duerr how has the Curology been working for You? I am intrigued and while I don't have the acne I do have the age spots etc and just wanted to see what others have thought of the product

    • @janiceduerr620
      @janiceduerr620 6 лет назад +5

      I decided to try Curology because I was interested in beginning tretinoin and I have hyperpigmentation on the left side of my face I hoped to lighten. I have always had clear skin, so that was not a reason for trying it. My skin took to it very well. My formula is .04 tretinoin, with vitamin C and niacinamide. I wish I could have gotten it stronger but was told this was as strong as they could make it for me. I started in September and just started a new bottle and have one more waiting. I decided to cancel as I have been using the Avene product as well as Obagio Retinol 1.0. I alternate them. I am trying to fight off wrinkles in my 66-year-old face and work on the hyperpigmentation - so I am also using Ambi cream with 2% hydroquinone. I think if you are younger and start on Curology it might work better. It appears to do great things for acne prone skin and it seems that most of their customers are much younger than me.

    • @jadormycc8819

      you have products that has vitamin C and retinol or tretinoin? other derivative of tretinoin may not be sensitive against lower pH or other ingridients. However tretinoin works best at ph 5.5 - ph 6.5. Acids has lower pH anywhere from pH2-ph4. So when you use tretinoin that works best at pH of 5.5 - 6.5 with other acids, it will significantly lower the pH of the tretinoin making it not as effective as it should be when it's at its optimal pH.

    I do retinoid vitamin a acid. It was hard to get into the nightly regimen but once I did, the results were amazing! I pushed past the flaking and once I got used to it I went to a stronger prescription and still no flaking! Be careful w tazorac, for me it was non stop flake city even after stopping for a few days! It works great but BE CAREFUL with this one. Anyway I'll be 55 on August there 3rd 2019 and people tell me I have great skin. Even more so than in my 20s! So there!

    I stayed out of the sun, always used sunblock and started using good anti-aging products as a teen, but just starting Retinoids now at 45. I hadn't seen any signs of aging, but now at this age, tons of stress (widowed suddenly, 5 children, etc.), I have to boost up care. I do think sun awareness and proactivity has helped tremendously. No fine lines at all yet and our 27 yr old's co-workers recently met me and thought I was his younger sister, our daughter, so that I will take that! :)

    Great information, Angie. I’m currently using 0.1% Tretinoin that I buy directly from my dermatologist. As an established patient, I don’t need an appointment to buy it-just walk in and they sell it to me. It’s in a convenient little pump bottle with my physician’s name on it and the formula is very gentle. I’ve had no redness or peeling. I started with the 0.05% for the first six months then went up in strength. Thanks for the video!,

    Hi Angie, I've been watching your videos for a long time and learning a lot from them! I am 45 years old and started a year ago to use Retin A, Vitamin C and peptides. Recently, I read articles and talked with professionals and they recommended that I take a break with Retin A and peptides because they work with receptors and therefore a break is required after about 8 months. What do you think? You do not recommend any of your video to make breaks. Why do not you think it's necessary?

    With Retin A, I think it's right to mention the other, more important, side effects - not just the aesthetic ones. For example, because chemicals absorbed by the skin enter the blood stream via capillaries, long-term use can harm the liver. My daughter did her Master's in bio-chemistry before studying medicine, as did my late husband. We have many doctors in the family and a pharmacist, all of whom will confirm that the long-term topical use of vitamin A is detrimental to the liver. Many types of medication, contraceptives and vitamins are delivered sublingually (i.e. via the skin). Indeed, the hepatotoxicity of vitamin A should certainly not be ignored. The damage accumulates over the years and is irreversible. It's an important factor to consider.

      Darrn, I meant to mention rose hip seed oil in the video! It's a natural source of Vitamin A (& other anti-aging/moisturizing ingredients) so it's a good option for those who want all natural products, but it's going to be much much weaker than everything else mentioned in the video because of the small amount of retinoic acid in it. Here's a thorough investigation on it: thebeautybrains.com/2015/01/is-rose-hip-oil-good-for-anti-aging/

      I've been using it for 2 years, initially cos my skin was SO dry and I was too ill to use a prescription and risk more side effects. I didn't know then it contained tretinoin (a tiny percentage) but now at 60, people say I look 10 years younger and I'm sure as heck doing nothing else other than moisturiser and sun screen, so I think it must. I also spent years in the tropics but have little pigmentation and few wrinkles (though some fine lines). Maybe the added factor of all its fatty acids etc?

    Thank you Angie, I have been watching and learning from your videos for the past 4 years and cannot thank you enough for the difference it has made to my skin and skin care routine.
    I am 60 years of age and live in Australia where, in our younger years, used to sun bake and slather ourselves in oil, till sometimes our skin would peel. There were little or no sunscreens back then, maybe just zinc cream for the nose, and certainly no information on how much damage the sun can do to our skin. It was the era of the suntan.
    Slowly but surely my skin has improved and is still improving and I feel it has never been better. From my experience I have learnt you are never to old to start a good skincare routine and also to be a little bit patient when it comes to seeing the wonderful improvements/results to your skin.

    Angie, Do you re-apply your sunscreen every two hours? My derm told me this is necessary if using a Retina A product of any sort. If you do, so you apply over your make up??? Perhaps use a sunscreen powder?? I am concerned about sun damage this summer if I start using this type of product. I currently use the Ulta MD tinted moisturizer spf 41, but do not "re-apply". Good tips about buying it at the airport. I am from Italy and I started using it at age 29 because of a serious case of acne and after researching and discovering its anti-aging properties I obviously kept using it for both acne and as an anti age.
    I'm now 41 and I don't have a wrinkle on my face yet, people think I have something done but nope, I was "lucky" to get a very serious acne at 29 and start using Retin-A when I was still young-ish.
    At age 30 I moved to the UK and I could still find it for a couple of years and now it's basically impossible to get it. Glad that I lived in Mexico for 2 years and they give it to you over the counter for 15$ and it lasts me forever. I think everyone should start using Retin-A after 25 years old, it's truly THE ONLY real anti age out there.
    I have some pictures of me at 28 and I had 2 quite visible wrinkles in my forehead. Now It's smooth like a baby! Unbelievable. I got used to the sunscreen even when it rains and since I don't use make up (just some BB cream to cover dark circles if I'm tired or the occasional pimple, It's perfect as I can reapply the sunscreen whenever I need it during the day. Yes my face is as white as a corpse (pretty interesting comments when I am in Mexico for months in a row) but I use some colored BB cream and if my body gets truly tanned, I use a few drops of self-bronzer to not look ridiculous. All In all, I'd rather be a vampire with no wrinkles and look younger than look nice and tan but ruining my skin. Great review! I had to show your video to my sister in law today. We were discussing our beauty routine and I was telling her about Retin A (she is 42 and even if she looks younger she has wrinkles), and she thought you were younger than her and when I told her your age she almost fainted :D

      Perfect Timing!! I was buying a couple tubes yesterday from ReliableRx whom I've used before, however this time when I tried to pay with a credit card, they said I would get an email to then pay. The email sent me to AllDayChemist to pay, but then it said because their bank is in Austraila there would be an increase in what I had to pay. So for my $12 order, they wanted to charge me a total of $25 extra ($15 shipping & $10 extra for AU). I refused to buy it and wanted to ask around about what is going on? Also, has anyone signed up on the Bitcoin service? And where else to buy besides cocktail cosmetics?

    I am new to any kind of skincare although I have used a Retinol product. Your information was extensive but honestly I had a hard time following the products with the good and better and what is actually the right product. I know everyone is different, but it just seemed confusing. Thank you for being so pleasant

    I’m using the Dr. Brant eye retinol cream and really like it. No irritation and after a couple months I’m seeing improved smoothness.

    i experienced more serious side effects of tretinoin after 25 years of use: dryness not only of outer skin, but particularly the mucous membranes (nose, eye, mouth); i also developed alopecia due to retin-a, problems with my stomach and my digestive tract, and strange anxiety/panic attacks. It took several years (!) to realize these might be caused by retin-a. It didn't occur to me. But all these problems left the building after stopping, between three months to a year after. (And in the between years i had looked for treatment and remedies for all these separate complaints). I did find other people who had similar symptoms from (long-term) use of retin-a, somewhat akin to using accutane (which is the oral variety). These side effects are no kiddie play. I wish there was more information about it. Angie used retin-a only for five years - i got it for 25 (for acne).

      The symptoms are of Hypervitaminosis A, and somewhat similar to the oral version of retin-A, Accutane.

      Loufi303 You’re absolutely correct. Vitamin A isn’t made or absorbed by the body and used completely, neither is it excreted like vitamin c and the b group. I’m so sorry for what you’ve been through, and even though you’ve written it clearly, most women’s vanity will come before their health. I studied up on Vitamin A use and it’s not as safe as it’s made out on RUclips so please don’t go back to it.

    I have started with Ret-A .025% cream every other day for 3 applications. I will go up to 1% at my last application for the week (that is a gel and I heard that one has to really very light with the gel because it penetrated faster and cause cause burning if not careful). After I apply the Ret-A I put a oil free/fragrance free Moisturizer.

    Your skin has remarkably improved since your first videos. Very impressive research. Coming from a medical background, I can appreciate all the time and effort it takes to do that. Thank you so much for providing that information

    Damn it, cureology isn't available in Oregon! I was all in for a custom blend. 😢

    How cool there is that curology site to give people access to prescription products who can’t get them otherwise. I am getting mine from my doctor but if I didn’t, I’d be so thrilled to have access to retin A!

    So very helpful. Thanks Angie. You introduced me to this product 3 years ago and I will not be without it. I used to purchase my RetinA from Premier Look but I now get it from an online pharmacy. Realized some extraordinary savings as well. Can't wait for the next one in this series.
