The POV was smooth because I mounted the SHIT out of the camera and practically BOLTED the god damn thing to the train!!! This is the ride that actually BROKE one of our cameras in 2005. It's rough as hell, especially through the first two inversions. Most violent head bashing I've ever encountered.
I love how in some places, you can literally see where the pain will be. It looks so sharp in some places lol
Jesus loves you guys
Those little kinks in the inversions look just brutal! Like they built 1/4 of the loop, realized they were building it sideways at the wrong angle, and corrected it halfway through the job!
tankmaster1018 It explains the pain. It hurts so much.
It’s literally an intentional inversion lol, don’t know what designers were thinking when they designed the butterfly
It's good to know that the spirit of Drachenfire lives on.
Phalkor "Should've gotten a B&M"
they have a b&m
What!
I remember that sucker Drachenfire had a. Teeshirt lol beautiful from the ground bitchslaps with dragons tails to ride it . Rode it twice in a row, young and didnt know any bettef. Huge steel ad for pain relievers lol.
Man, Gouderix was my first big roller coaster on a trip to France when I was twelve, it was really rough and painful in those last two inversions, but it was so much fun for my little brain to comprehend 😂
*Goudurix
I went on a school trip to park asterix yesterday! It was amazing! This was probably one of the best ones there but I agree, your head bangs allot when it comes to the inversions! I recommend Osiris to all of you theme park review fans!
Gabriela Jarecka not this one
Little brain?
This coaster came from HELL
This made me laugh so hard! Especially coming from a cute kitten pfp 😂
The French scream louder than the Americans! Awesome coaster!!
But Brazilians are loudest.
Its not awesome it sucks
@@ilikerollercoasters4757 arrow loopers amirite
Loved it
Goudurix sounds like a condom brand or something.
It still baffles me that the Asterix franchise is completely unknown in America specifically.
Gretgor comic books right? I had some people at an old school I went to who actually loved the books
"Goudurix" is actually a play on the phrase "Goût du risque", which means "the taste of risk", I think this coaster has an extremely appropriate name x)
@@imaginox9 yeah you'd have to be crazy to want to ride that arrow megalooper more than once. I've never been on one myself but from what I've seen it looks like they're really rough
@@nathanseamans2655 It's a Vekoma not an Arrow but it's essentially the same thing. The only good thing about this coaster is that it has two very rare figures: a batwing and a butterfly. For that reason alone it shouldn't be torn down. Or tear it down and build a modern Vekoma with the new tracks but the exact same layout as the original one.
This ride looks awesome on the outside, but apparently the on-ride experience is the complete opposite.
MetalSmasherGaming it's terrible.
It's good if you are not tall and if you keep your head on the backrest very well
those arent screams of fun a joy there screams of pain lol
HappyTreeX
why does it shake so much? Lol
HappyTreeX1 It's what you would expect from a Vekoma
Screams of *A g o n y*
@@invertedthrills144 no it is not. We have a Vekoma at SFOG called Blue Hawk (it was formerly known as Ninja.) You may have heard of it.
Hey Robb! Thank you for all these videos you released this month! And thank you for all the effort you went through to get them to us. Your work is never unappreciated!
I felt like if this coaster was made by B&M or someone else with the same layout, it wouldn't be that bad
It was made by Vekoma
@@Randomvideos_90. Lol
@@kotchapakmaneechote2062 idiot that wasnt what he said for the comment
Ikr maybe by arrow or B&M sit down
I think the layout is pretty nice
The inversions after the first drop are taken way too fast and you can feel every single bump. They should either change the trains on maybe consider a retracking. Still fun to ride though (this was my first roller coaster with a butterfly element in it).
The Butterfly is such a strange inversion when you think about it... it looks really cool but it doesn't work on a rough coaster! Still I'm very attached to Goudurix, if you get your head out of the harness you'll be fine. The two corkscrews at the end are actually some of my favourite inversions out there, because they're taken at such speed!
I still can't wrap my head around the butterfly *sad face*
People are saying that it's really bumpy, is it worth going on? I'm going soon with my school.... This park was literally the reason I signed up for this trip.
No it's ok ! I did it a lot of times and it's ok ;) This guy filming tests a lot of Rollor Coasters so I thinks he might be a bit complicated haha !
I'm going with my school too and were going here too, i'm actually really excited to ride this though
Eleanor Tuckwood I'm really annoyed, because unfortunately I didn't get the time to ride this one but I did get to ride "Oz" (forgotten the name) which was amazing!!
SarahCookeFilms Dont worry ull be fine!
I went here earlier in the year, make sure you ride osiris, goudrix and the zeus one, theyre amazing rides especially orisis
I love the commentary
When I went to Parc Asterix I went on that ride 5 times in a row I felt so sick afterwards haha
Also when I was at Parc Asterix there was no line for the Goudurix so I got to stay on it for all 5 times
But my neck did hurt a lot after I went on it...
The ride layout looks pretty good tbh. It just looks WWWWAAAAAAYYYY TTTOOOO RRRRROOOUUUUGGGHHH!!!
One of the best designs coasters I've seen.
Yeah, but it hurts sooo much...
just keep your head back on the soft pad and your head wont shake trust me
Zoe’s Studio wooosh
I'll bet this should be called "The ULTIMATE Vekoma Torture Machine"!
I'm pretty sure that's what the name means
nope go in the robin hood or bandit and survive that one :P
well atlast it was a prototype still a bad prototype that needs a new track
Cazz d'Ivoire The name means "Taste of risk" haha
Hey Karl Marx how about mind eraser?
I like those 19th century railroad noises that the track is making while you ride it 😁
This reminds me of Ninja at Six Flags Over Georgia, perhaps the worst coaster in the US. It's got a similar layout to this, only more loops than batwings, but holy shit, that ride beats the ever living crap out of you. I'm surprised the park hasn't handed out helmets yet.
I was thinking the same thing! I learned my lesson after riding that BS. I wear earrings and yeah...let's just say there was a little blood by the end of the ride.
I was thinking Ninja too. but I absolutely love the Ninja. That and the Scorcher are my favorite rides. Although, I do think the should change the restraints on the Ninja. Change the padding and make it not as close to your face. Face room maybe?
the new trains make it much better
1:18 *Kittens screaming with a cheering parrot in a basket* Aww, crap o la! Oh it looks so pretty, too!
I've ridden a Vekoma once. Ended up with a bad headache and limping the rest of the day.
the same happened to my kids - headache , neck ache - flying home one day later was very bad experience
rode it 2 weeks ago and i dont get why people are crying about the roughness like get over it. Its not rough its actully very smooth but its just the headbanging which only happens for less than second at a time just keep your head at the back of the seat and youre good to go
also its possible to get no headbang until the last 2 corskrews (did this)
roughness is comparable to a b&m
headbanging comparable to a bad togo but it last for a really short time
Awesome. That ride looks like fun. I have to go one day.
Did you read the description?
Ryan DeLoach Yes, I read the description and the ride still looks awesome, even with the reported bumpy track ride. I guess I am sadistic. LOL
Ryan DeLoach worst for the quality, best for the design :p
WOOOOOOW.....FIVE LOOPS IN SEQUENCE, AND TWO INVERSIONS!!!!
WANNA RIDE IT SOOO MUCH BUT I LIVE TOO FAR AND IT SEEMS TOO BUMPY.
GREETINGS FROM BRASIL
Ok, go ahead and blame it on the Dutchman Hanno why don't you
I love the layout of this ride
Christ they need get rid of this torture device and get Vekoma in to build them a customized Bermuda Blitz coaster but maybe with a couple of more inversions than Lech and Phoenix. Apart from been a torture device though it has quite a decent layout.
1:18 Screaming kittens with a cheering parrot in a basket Please make a deal over, But nows a some more fun! 1:50
OMG I'm only 12 and I'm going to France to this amusement park and before we go on this ride we have to eat loads of sweets and drink loads of coke.... I'm going to be sick 😱
Dont know why everyone hates it, I went on it and actually really enjoyed it, yes it was rough but is it really that bad?
Rough!! The wooden one there is worse
A few weeks ago I went to Paris with school and we came here. I had never been on a rollercoaster before but wanted to go on a big one before I went to Thorpe park in the summer. I got told that we where going to go on the rollercoaster near the end but we ended up going on it 2nd. 1st being the Rapids. I was absolutely petrified because I had never been on a rollercoaster and never thought that a 7 loop would be my first. I went on it and absolutely loved it! Ended up going on it again and others just like it. Defo recommend it
I just got home from France yesterday and I went on that ride a few days ago, it was so scary and it was mainly because it was the first proper ride I have ever been on...so much fun recommend it
So many memories on this ride and all the pain it caused my back
OML! I am going there next year for a residential! So scared!😭😂
So this is what hell sounds like.....along with Rob's yapper going on endlessly in the background, lol!
That looks so awesome!!! :)
It reminds me of LochNess Monster, but with 5 more inversions. LochNess was built by Arrow, as was the ill fated Drachenfire. It is anything like Drachenfire, I can definitely see why some would consider it rough. Most of the B&M coasters have 7 inversions and are usually very smooth.
Rode this with my Mum when I was 10 or 11... don't remember it being insanely rough, but back then I didn't have much to compare it to.
It's pretty rough but honestly not as bad as people say, if you ride towards the centre of the train it's actually pretty enjoyable, apart from the turn after the corkscrews
not even done screaming on the last loop yet and here comes the next already
Ugh, I wish we had a major theme park where I live.
Western Washington state. We have a relatively small water park that also has some dry rides including a few decent roller coasters and there is Silverwood in Idaho. But that's it.
+GameAddict51 M8 i live in the uk and I live 40 mins from thope park one of the best theme parks in the world :D
+GameAddict51 Try living in the south of Tasmania. We don't have so much as go karts. One bowling place and one mini golf place is as exciting as it gets.

I just want to thank Robb for risking his bones and head to make a POV of a really rough coaster.
soo many loops i love it!!
Some guy did a roller coaster poll which decided on the best and worst roller coasters in the world by taking a group of experience riders and having them compare one ride with another. In the poll, this ride got ZERO winning votes and 362 losing votes lmao
As the seventies singer Meatloaf once sang "you took the words right out of my mouth".
I appreciate each and every one of Robb's videos as well. This was a really nice comment that you left for him. Well said~

Reminds me of Drachen Fire at Busch Gardens. Arrow type rides can get painful, but it is reminiscent of the first generation of looping coasters.
Same type of coaster at Six Flags over Georgia, the shoulder restraints are what really kill the ride. I believe Six Flags adjusted that so it doesn't kill your neck
I rode this some 30 years ago. I had a few months before undergone back
surgery after a fracture on a vertebra. Lots of screws and metal bars
back there. I can assure you it was painful.
He is retracked and it's a lot better now. I Guess when they buy the new Vekoma trains it will be a nice coaster, because the layout is actually brilliant...
I don't know why, but Vekoma/Arrow custom loopers always look so beautiful and cool, but sadly most of them are way too rough to enjoy...
Favorite part. Looking from the brake run and seeing a humongous line to ride it
Sorry guys, the dutch messed up.
I'm from France and came to Parc Asterix every year. It's true that this "Goudurix" coaster is rough, really rough. It's here since 1989 (Parc Asterix opening). Parc built Oziris (B&M coaster) last year so they won't change Goudurix. It's too bad because it's the worst coaster in the Golden Ticket Award ^^ but I like it since i'm a little boy. Here in France we're not lucky, I don't know Cedar Point, Six Flags and all your crazy theme park. Enjoy !
It kind of sounds like a funeral march is the background music at the end. Fitting.
I went on this and it literally makes your legs numb afterwards. A hell of a ride though!
That butterfly inversion looks painful and sweet at the same time.
Totally agree with ya on the The Ninja, though they should've called it the torture express; you've got a better chance of winning the lottery than getting off that thing without something hurting.
I went there 3 years ago and I remember the coaster went funny at one moment and went through the corkscews in slow motion. I'm happy I didn't try it that day.
I love that layout :)
That looks super intense. Hell yea
I remember this ride from a visit to Paris one year. I absolutely hated it. Way too rough and both of us had bruised knees and massive headaches afterwards. Tonnerre de Zeus is way better as is Trace d'Hourra. Can't wait to try Oziris!
A ride with a similar layout built by either B&M or Intamin (or even a newer Vekoma) would be a really good steel coaster.
Yeah I am old, ok bear with me. I rode the insane steel dinosaurs at Six Flags Houston too, real spine shakers.
Because I grew up in France, I love this coaster dearly. It's not that bad at all, you just have to stick your head out of the restraint. It is rough, but the two corkscrews at the end still are one of my favorite inversions in all the coasters I've ridden.
Also, WHAT THE HELL THE LINE IS SO LONG! I've actually never seen it that long in all of the times I've been there...
Those Cobra rolls do look brutal.
I rode this coaster recently; even with the extra padding on the headrests, its still awfully rough. The park was relatively busy too the day I visited, yet this ride had no queue all day. After riding, I knew exactly why! The whole thing is unpleasant, but I found the segment leading up to the sidewinder the roughest part.
Despite its uniqueness, it's still terrible. The title of 'The word's worst steel roller coaster' is well deserved!
Ohh hey it's a butterfly loop...this ought to be fun :). I'm pretty sure they added this in Planet Coaster simply to be used as a torture tool for the guests that ride a coaster with this ungodly inversion LOL.
You would have thought that a rollercoster with 7 invertions would be good, but the ride is rough and very bumpy, and not like a B&M. It should be taken down it is 25 years old!!
I'm going here as a school trip lol and the teachers said keep your head back or it will hurt as it will bump on the seat
it will probably get dismantled when the pneumatic rollercoaster announced for 2021 will be released !
@Totally Unfocused It has a bad reputation and not many people give it a try (every time I went to the park it was 5min of queue compared to 1 hours for Oziris), and this park is constantly renewing since a couple of years, lot of new attractions every 2 years now. The coaster I'm talking about is not launched by a pneumatic system (yes it's the right word), my mistake, but with a linear motor which is not so common. It was officially announced last year. But yeah, even if Goudurix is pure shit, it's the iconic coaster of the park because of its new yellow look and all those loop over the dirty lake, so realistically it's more likely to stay up for a while, but if there is a good moment to dismantle it, it will probably be in 2021
I went with my class all the way from the netherlands to this parc it was so much fun, this rollercoaster was closes trough, but we went on Osiris like more then 10 times it was so much fun :)
It’s a shame that it’s rough because the layout looks really fun
Such a shame it's so rough, it's a great layout.
I though Viper at Darien Lake was rough.
Layout looks like someone's first attempt at using No limits.
That's got to be the smoothest rollercoaster I've ever seen!
Better than an RMC!
I live near Cedar Point and have been to Kings Island in Ohio over the years. I would have found this familiar lol Vortex from Kings Island mixed with Corkscrew from Cedar Point... some tiny attempt to throw a coaster from Gettysburg PA Busch Gardens into it, I forget the name of that thing but the PA one had this color. Scheme and a loop that then looped again through itself.
Although, you gotta admit, this is probably one of the more awesome Corkscrew layouts out there. Well atleast in my mind. XD
that's what I've always been intrigued by about this coaster. There's potential there, but pacing at the end is slow, the first drop is too straight. Parabolic curves would add Gs and make it more intense I think. I think the first 5 inversions were in some ways ahead of their time with the combinations and the rapid succession, but the first drop and last half are clunky and very conventional for what was being built at the time
You can tell it's rough because the angle of the camera is slightly off at the end of the POV
Those transitions between elements just look so sharp and painful, why didn't they smoothen them out?
Let's see if Goudurix comes in last place again in the latest Mitch Hawker steel coaster poll.
Like you said in the video the ride actually looks so smooth and amazing a shame it shakes and knocks the crap out of you- would still ride it haha!
that loop screw looked rough even the batwing maneuver before the loop. would be more fun if they were spread out more
I counted all of the loops. 7 or 8. Couldn't tell if the one long loop counted as 8.
you would think for a major french theme park they would try and make this rollercoaster a smooth ride experience for their guests
One reason i stay away from Corkscrew coasters are because of how rough they are, i dont enjoy the concussion afterwards.
Can't wait til I go!😄
I searched up Gourdix without the word roller coaster on RUclips. God help me.
Yep, me too, spelt it wrong
Geometry Dash Ethan - WHY DO I HAVE TO BE SO CURIOUS.
+Sweg Tomato DONT
Geometry Dash Ethan WHY DID YOU INCLINE ME TO SEARCH THAT
I only found roller coasters?
this looks really fun...rough but really fun
I'm probably the only one on Earth that would love Goudurix. For some reason, I love smooth coasters but I love it rough too :)
That sounded SO wrong....
that looks like so much fun
This looks pretty awesome -)
You know, if this coaster wasn't so rough and painful, it looks like it would have a solid layout.
According to Screamscape, they're trying to re-track this, and I honestly don't see it working, the only thing that will likely work is putting those new Vekoma trains with the soft vest instead of the OTSR's
I want to get off Rollercoaster 1
From what I've seen on here, go look at some coasters in Italy, then come back to this one.
Is this Arrow Dynamics or Vekoma?
Vekoma, but essentially it's mainly the same, since Vekoma has it's success from Arrow (Arrow bought Vekoma for their European section, and they exchanged the documents related to coaster construction)
Apparently it's being retracked by Vekoma using their new track style, so it should be smoother.
might get on it when I go to France with my friends but ahhh!
Beautiful coaster, but it almost seems criminal for a Vekoma ride to go that fast (unless it's a giant inverted boomerang).
I love asterix can't believe that there is a theme park and I'm from America
