Alexi Cordeiro-Beaupré i am 23 yold now, i got hrmoregic stroke when i was 18 y old but the therapy only made me can walk algain and move some stuff now i am still hemianopsia on my left side
What therapy did u do?
Those are two different people...
This was very interesting and informative. I didn't know that this existed! Big thanks to the families and staff for making the video/participating in it so that we could learn more about this condition!
Our brains are incredible! This is fascinating.
I came from my neurology professor, i wish it was from tiktok
WOW! seeing patients progress on finding midpoint was so magnificent to me! appreciate your great job!
I think it’s essentially like their whole reality on the affected side is absent from consciousness, it’s not just vision it’s the whole concept of something existing on that side it would seem at least
imagine the existence of another type of directions that all human beings are normally unaware of ! quite disturbing
not disturbing just depends how you interpret it
Wow that dude actually managed to draw a whole face!! After watching the pathology over the course of the video it seemed a hard limit but he actually did it. He looked really proud and rightfully so.
This all makes me think about the whole concept of unknown unknowns. What is there in the world that we have evolved to ignore?
I never saw this from tick tock I saw it from reddit
@TB44 you deserve a veterans discount.

Watching these people draw is extremely intriguing. It's like watching a unique artists style and I wouldn't be surprised if there's an artist somewhere through history who had this condition and didn't know about it.
The drawings hes making here have a picasso-esque look to them.
it’s like asking us to look into the 4th dimension which we can’t comprehend
Thanks for the video and to the patients for putting themselves out there. A very thoughtful and informative video!🙏
Thank you to all involved. Very insightful and helpful.
Lesion is most commonly in the right parietal lobe.
-> spatial neglect.
yeah the angular gyrus
What if they rotate 90 degrees and lie down? Are they either blind or as accurate as a normal person in the same position?
wait that pig actually looks rlly good like that i think it gives more character
Thanks for your great help, I have to learn for paramedic now!
I guess this is one of the known unknown with many unknown unknowns that helpfully will come to know 😆
My 82yo dad had a left side stroke that damaged his left parietal lobe. He now has right-side Hemispatial Neglect. 😕
Alexander Rosset Was he left-handed?
For the left parietal lobe to cause hemispatial neglect most probably he was left handed and his dominant hemisphere was Right
@@hazazihazazi4204 right hemispheric dominance is not mandatory. There is a vast literature about right hemispatial neglect caused by left hemispheric stroke.
Riccardo Verni thank you! I was currently trying to find out if this could happen too, and yes you are right it is not mandatory.

I’m aware that i neglect my left side. Because i cannot move my left side of my body, I’m in wheelchair. 2 years ago i had an accident with my power chair. Because i focused looking to my left to not miss something important, i forgot my right side which is perfectly normal. Unfortunately while i was highly focused on my left, a stupid pole from a street sign appeared ftom right.my stop was not fast enough so i broke my wheelchair amd also my right foot. That was very stupid..
thanks for your story. helps to understand the disease better
I'm colour blind. People keep telling me there is a number 8 in this bunch of dots but clearly there is just a 3. Also they make a lot noise about some trees turning in Autumn long before the leaves fall. Just looks like a tree to me.
Obviously this is not anywhere remotely as incapacitating as a hemiparesis but it is interesting to have an analogue of what it must feel to not have that imagination-space conception of what others are describing or inciting is present.
it's probably hard to know if something is "normal" if that is how it always was
Most animals are color blind
how can we interpret that? what is the mechanism?
Non-Dominant Parietal lobe lesion or defect
Anyone here from tik tok?
Yes yes I am
Yes. I'm a psychology student so I wanted to learn more once I heard her talking about it in her tiktok

Yeah
Gemini_ genX Yes 👀
What assessment did you carry out to determine the neglect? Which is the assessment that asks them to draw on the line
fyi that quote at the beginning was Donald Rumsfeld trying to explain why were invading Iraq when there was no evidence at all that our reasons for doing so were justified.

I didn't find a video with asomatognosia but this gave me an idea... That's interesting
Damage to somatosensory association area
usually after some time they recover at all
Quoting Donald Rumsfeld is odd.
Why it happens ????
How does IQ affect this?
Can't they just like
rotate the dinner plate
+Linktothe_Awesome They can do this ... but how can they rotate everything else that they neglect, ie a dinner table?
***** Turn their head...
this is has nothing to do with the eyes or ears, it is not only about reception but also processing in the brain. try to think of it more like the patient doesnt even know the left part of the table or dinner plate exists, and he also doesn't think about it.
+Linktothe_Awesome The point is they don't know that it's happening lol. You're missing it a bit lol
Sam Harris got me here
Can neglect also be right-sided?
+Annekeeeeeee yes it can,but it the chances are much higher on the left side
+黃酷德 Thank you!
+Annekeeeeeee. Absolutely but less pronounced and less frequent (because in over 90% of us the right space is processed by both hemispheres but the left space is left unprocessed if there is damage to the right hemisphere).
Both sides had be neglected but usually it's the right hemisphere that is damaged
I came here from looking up a term in a psychology textbook
