I sort of believe in "Bigfoot". I say "sort of", because I've never personally encountered one, despite spending a lot of time camping in the woods in the PNW over the years. I do find some of the photographic and recorded evidence intriguing; others not so much (I should note that I've got 30-odd years experience in SFX makeup, so such things sort of leap out at me in the numerous hoaxes out there). But mostly I believe my grandfather, who was a truck driver in Northern California. A large chunk of his career was as a logging truck driver, where he spent a lot of time going up and down bulldozed trails to deep woods logging camps picking up loads of harvested wood. He encountered Bigfoot, twice. Both times from the cab of his truck, more or less "in passing", while driving on these dirt roads.
You would have to have known my grandfather to understand - he was not a person prone to spinning tall tales; in fact he was pretty much the epitome of stoic, to say nothing of reticent. Getting any sort of story out of him was like pulling teeth, and I think I only received a single written letter from him in my entire life (I was in the military at the time, so hadn't seen him in a couple years, which was why he felt compelled to write - his wife, my grandmother, probably hounded him into doing it, too). There is no way in hell he would lie about these encounters. It's always possible he mis-identified a bear or something... but again, very very unlikely. He grew up in those woods, and was pretty intimately familiar with the wildlife there.
I can fairly easily envision a species of intelligent primate, probably low in population and limited in range, existing "alongside" us. It would not be out of the question; we still don't have anything close to a full catalogue of creatures who live on land (to say nothing of the seas!), and humans tend to congregate close to water - there are vast regions of Earth that still remain relatively unexplored except in the most superficial of ways. So yeah... Bigfoot *could* exist. And I think probably does.

I doubt your grandfather lied to you about what he saw. When you do see one, like I did you almost feel compelled to tell someone. When I was camping on Mt. Ranier at 13 yrs old and saw one, the first thing I thought was it can't be? We had just learned about the Neanderthal men at the end of the previous school year and that's exactly what he looked like in the face. Just the face. So yes, their out there and I really don't react to people that make derogatory remarks because until they see one, they don't know. I love your story. Thanks for sharing.

It sounds to me like you're open to the idea of an undiscovered ape species. I'm on the same boat. To me, the problem I have with the bigfoot community (a large majority) as well as the so called bigfoot hunters is that they are all liars. Most have been proven to be hoaxers and or fraudsters - which does nothing to help the legitimate biologists who are also open to the idea of an undiscovered species of giant ape.

My family lives in Mckee Kentucky. Danial Boone forest and trails. I was 13 or 14 riding our dirt bikes on a trail that leads to old coal mines. My cousin and I smelled the nastiest odor. I can still remember the odor. My cousin stopped immediately and whispered to turn around . ive never seen his that scared. I followed him. He road as fast as fast as he could. He almost lost me a few times. When we were almost out of the trail we heard a deep growl then chatter. My cousin pulled his pistol out of his bag and kept riding. When we got back to his house he ran inside and told his mom. My aunt cussed and cursed us. She was so mad that we went down that trail. She threatened to call my dad and make me go home. She said were lucky we're alive. She whooped my cousin and cried. She called her bother. Our uncle and he came over. He started to cuss us abd told us if we ever go back into those woods we wont come out. When the dogs smelled out tires on the dirt bikes they yelped and ran. These were hunting dogs that had no fear . my uncles friend went in those same trails as a school boy and was never found. He was mushroom hunting. They found his bags, gun and old dirt bike a few years later. Outside the old coal mine entrance. Since then they blew up the entrances to those mines. No one talks about it. No one will talk about what's in those woods. I believe its one of these creatures. The smell was like rotting food and urine. If that makes sense? I will never forget that smell or growl and chatter that day. I didn't see what it was but I smelled and heard something. Everyone was so mad and upset that day. Why would they be so angry and scared if nothing is in those mountains? I never went into the hills without our guns and dirt bikes again. Ive never smelled that stench again. I will never forget how scared and mad everyone was for us that day. My dad found out and kept me away for years. ID beg to go down on summer vacation.

You should go watch the facts by how to hunt and send your encounter to him. Maybe get your cousin to do the same. I can tell by reading your story it still bothers you. There is something about the fear they project that never leaves a person really. I have been scard a lot of times like the night I was sleeping out and woke up with a bear sniffing my head. But I can think about it now and I don't feel afraid. When I remember about 15 years before that when I was folllowed by a forest man I still feel the fear, not nearly as bad but the fear is still there. Somehow listening to others experiances makes it less. Go watch the facts by how to hunt and see if it helps. Good luck and take care.

@@timmyshore3755 That's what they said about UFOs for years even though the government spent a lot of time and money investigating them. They couldn't tell the public the truth because they feared many would lose it if they did. Now after years of conditioning they are starting to admit there really are things flying around they can't explain. They can't admit the forest people are real because it would make darwinism look flawed so they ridicule and threaten people who have sightings. People who are too afraid or who don't have the intellect to look into it for themselves just brush it off as foolishness. I have seen them twice, once with my little grandson. We watched one run smoothly and steadily down and across a mountain side. Later using google maps I estimated it was moving at about 60 mph for about 1 1/2 miles into the tree line. I have spent my entire 65 years living in the woods and I know what animals can and will do. There is no acknowledged animal that could or would have have covered that terrain at that speed for that distance. It was clearly an upright being on 2 legs although I will admit that it was too far away to see any fine details like eyes or hands but we could see arms. And no it was not a human unless it was superman.. The ground was too brushy, rocky and had patchy snow. It's speed was consistent as it crossed over the low brush, rocky areas and snow patches. So you can plug your ears and say lah lah lah your a liar all you want but it only makes you look foolish as their are thousands and thousands of people who have seen them including police, military, and a variety of scientists including the biologist for Washington state. But I guess your just smarter and more experianced then all those thousands of people.

YES!! Bigfoot is the reason why I started believing in the impossible. I had my experience in the mid 90s when I was about 8 or so in the Blue Ridge mountains of Georgia. My dad and I went camping on one of his friend’s property. It was sprawling Forrest except for a small plot where my dad’s friend built a cabin. So we met up with with him, and went deeper into his property to find a place to set up our campsite. We eventually got to this little creek and set everything up. We had set up our fire and were roasting hotdogs and s’mores, but the whole time we were eating we kept hearing loud wood knocks. I don’t remember any of us being afraid of them, but they were definitely suspicious. Later that night when we were sleeping I woke up to a loud splash in the creek, so I awoke my dad. He just laughed and said, “It was probably a fish.”. I accepted the explanation until I heard two more massive consecutive splashes. I didn’t have to wake him up that time. He decided to grab his pistol and check things out. When he got outside the tent his friend was already looking around. After a check of the site we went back to our tents for the night. The night was uneventful, but the next morning there were massive footprints in our campsite. Even being that young I could tell by the way my dad was acting that this wasn’t normal. Now that we were all thoroughly freaked out we started breaking down camp and heading back to the cabin. While we were walking there came the loudest guttural howl I’ve ever experienced. It was so loud that I could feel it in my body. It’s like I was paralyzed. After what seemed like forever, but was probably only a couple seconds, my dad grabbed my arm and we hauled ass out of there. At that point in my life I had heard of Bigfoot, but I was always told it’s a hoax for fools to believe. I left that day dumbfounded by what I’d experienced. I’ve always tried to find a logical answer for things, and for years I tried listening to different animal noises indigenous to the southeast, but nothing ever fit, until I stumbled across a show where they a group of Bigfoot hunters were call blasting, playing alleged Bigfoot recordings through powerful speakers into the wilderness, in Texas. As soon as I heard that noise I started shaking and got chills throughout my body. Even now writing this some 20 years later I still feel that primal fear thinking about it. After doing some research I learned that some known animals use infrasound to stun their prey. I guess I wonder if it considered us food, or if we were just in its territory. If you want to hear what I heard the closest thing is the Ohio howls recorded in 2015

The walking pattern of the Patterson Gimlin Bigfoot is proof that it is real. The biomechanics of its gait is way way off compared to a human. When people walk, the leg swings forward, kicks and the knee locks, while the back shin rises 52 degrees. When the Patterson Bigfoot walks, it lifts its back leg 73 degrees, thrusts its knee up and forward, and steps downward ( like a stomp ) without locking its knee. Just like how you can't take the pistons and a crankshaft of a Honda Civic and stick them into a Ford pick-up truck and expect it to run. You can't just stick a person into a big, bulky ape costume and expect them to walk this unusual ( and impossible ) way for full minute.

Back in 2014, I was sightseeing Mars Bluff, NC for the unexploded ordnance that was nearby in someone’s back yard. It was an event that happened back in the 1950s. Me not knowing where it was exactly, drove into an abandoned RV park because it showed on Google maps that the location was close to this spot. I venture into the wooded area behind the park, dense wooded area mind you. After a few minutes I realize I’m in the wrong area. On my way out, I start to hear twigs breaking. Then I hear something akin to a branch hitting the side of a tree. I remember research on BF saying that hitting trees with branches is common in sightings. I wasn’t going to let it bother me so I played it off. Heard it again. Flight instinct kicks in but I don’t run. I walk back to my car. As I near the broken road, a rock lands next to my feet as if intentionally thrown. I announce in a calm voice that I was leaving and I drove off carefully but in a hurry. I wasn’t going to be told twice again. It might’ve been a vagrant or BF, I didn’t want to find out. But there was no way a human was going to be able to maneuver in the wooded area from where all those noises came from; it was too dense and impassable even for me.

I would write it off as a fake if it wasn't for the fact that its gait is very similar to that of the creature in the Patterson-Gimlin film. It's not a natural way for a human to walk and would be very difficult to do by a person in a costume. The distinctly un-humanlike gait of the creature in the Patterson-Gimlin film has been extensively studied. In a video I saw, researchers hired a male athlete and tried to train him to walk in the exact same way the film subject did; he couldn't replicate it for more than a few steps.

I stopped dead in my tracks in the darkness as it slammed the ground I couldn't see anything but the fence and light from our townhouses to the left but I knew it was either to the immediate front right or to the side of me because I could feel and hear it breaking trees it felt like I was around something I wasn't supposed to see or the wrong place. I said "I don't mean you any harm I just wanna go eat." and it stopped slamming at that point I just kinda fuddled inside putting everything down getting my composure as I looked out the window never saw anything except for the next day. Next day I come out to go back to work and there's trees knocked over to this day I wish I would've gone out there to investigate either during or after it sounds crazy to say during but I truly believe it understands intention and is only defensive by nature and/or past treatment by the other percentage of us who would fight one instead of want to understand it

@@Saiyan_B I would assume people have tried but honestly I hope they don't because from my experience and the experiences of others like me we all share the same common ground that it felt more ethereal and like an elemental kind of guardian than a monster or normal creature of nature. Long before I ever had my experience a woman I know told me about hers when she was child she said she was playing in a field picking flowers back in the 1960's when she saw it she was scared to death but then seemingly heard "Don't be scared child." or the feeling of that as though it was telepathically talking to her she said all it did was just look at her then allow her to continue playing. I really wish that I had seen it it was so dark I couldn't see anything but the smell, the power of how hard it was hitting the ground or ripping stuff out, and the "feeling" of it was unlike anything else in the world. It kinda feels like being in the presence of a dinosaur or an alien or something I can't fully explain it in words. Lol

There were three of us, in the middle of nowhere West Texas, lying in the back on my El Camino, intent on viewing the Perseid meteor shower. Off in the distance, a couple of dogs began to bark. Then came the sound of something entirely different. The dogs shut up and so did we. No, it wasn't Brother Coyote, whose voice is much higher than this. It was like a basso hooting bark. We decided discretion was the better part of valor as, being unarmed, we felt a bit exposed and vulnerable. Luckily we had already seen enough of the shower that our hasty retreat wasn't too much of a disappointment. 😮😲😨

Almost everyone I know that spends moderately elevated time in remote wooded realms or mountains has some sort of Bigfoot story. At one point do we discount this? If it’s not real then it’s a whole other problem. No one likes to stick out, but I’ve seen him, I wasn’t looking for him, and when I first saw him really thought it was a bear. But saw him clear as day for around 15 minutes walking up a ridge, past the tree line and onto a glacier. It paused on the glacier, turned to look directly at us, and then strode off over the well lit glacier into the middle of nowhere. He looks nothing like the Patterson film, is massive around 9 feet judging from the trees, ridiculously muscled and had to turn his whole upper torso to look at us because his massive neck was like armor. He was covered in fur colored like a grizzly but shorter like an ape. Didn’t believe before, forced after and wished I never saw him. Messes up your reality, can’t talk to no one about it, and defies all logic or science of our day. But he’s out there.

Oh they exist alright. I've had 3 separate experiences here in Washington State. Audio & visual experiences. First one was when I was 11 years old, picking wild blueberries with my family near Mt. St. Helen's in 1979, the year before the moutain blew its top. The experience was quite scary as there were huge prints all around where we were picking berries, the enormous black hairy being we saw in the distance, would have towered at least 2.5 feet taller than a 6.5 man. Naturally my parents were terrified as well and I'd never seen them scared before, that alone put a quite fright in me. In the past & up to present day, we've also heard extremely loud whoops, howls and screams, that are not from any known animal in the Pacific Northwest, nor was it human. These sounds were very near where we live, and we usually hear them in the summer months, coming from the heavily wooded hills around our home. These sounds have been heard by neighbors as well and no one knows what's making them, other than a possible Bigfoot. There have been sightings in this vicinity too, by law enforcement, military who are in training in the Ft. Lewis forested & extensive reservation lands.
