I was a kid dancing to this. What an era.
I remember buying The Glamourous Life album the day it was released, back in 1984. Hitting play at the very beginning and hearing this amazing song as an opener. I knew then that I would wear that album out, and I did. The zone Prince was in during the 80s was the thing of legends. He was churning out amazing music for himself, Sheila E, The Time, Mazarati, The Family, The Bangles, Stevie Nicks...he was existing on an entirely different universe than the rest of the world. We will NEVER see another artist like him.
Sheena Easton too.
@@marknc9616 and Apollonia 6.
Absolutely correct.
True there will be no other artiest like Prince ,
I will love Prince 4 ever
Prince's late 70's stuff was a little odd. You cannot find it anywhere nowadays. It's as if he had it removed from existence. The super-high-pitch vocals and prancing videos.
You absolutely cannot get more 80s than this
I would say Depeche Mode... Just can't get enough, Can match it for "80s ness"
DON'T YOU BEN LIEBRAND FROM 1983 UNTIL 2023. EVERY YEAR OLSO: "THE GRANDMIXEN" FIRST ONLY ONE HOUR. AND LATER THREE HOURS. SO WHEN I AM OUTSITE. I HAVE ALWAYS GOOD MUSIC. BEN LIEBRAND DOES MORE. AND HE IS EVEN MORE TIMES WORLD CHAMPION MIXING MUSIC.
I came home today feeling kinda down. i though of this song and this video, and came here. Pure Joy. I feel so much better now.
Fantastic song, brings back great memories. I hear the "Prince Sound" all over this tune. God, I miss the '80s!
Even after 30+ years its still one of my favorites! Her voice and drum skills are phenomenal.
Oooooihv Yeah.. Forgot about that
She so classh and talented and i love how the band is behind her. Her voice and band has healing powers
Love this hadn’t heard it in years I miss the flamboyant 80s❤️
Me too!
The Glam Period, period!!!🌹🎸🎹
Flamboyant Prince ❤
How could you not love the 80s? I can smell the hairspray from here.
I bet they were good if you were straight or in a large city.
Here here
Aqua hair spray... I think it was!! Ok it WAS!!😝😝😛😛😝😝
I love & miss the 80's music. Sheila is great ..I love her songs Glamourous Life, Love Bizarre & Hold me . but unfortunately I just don't like this song .
The Prince's masterpiece. A true pop artist.R.I.P.
I love this tune haven't heard it in ages. Miss the 80s very much thank you for reminding me how wonderful it was growing up in such a beautiful time.
Brings back memories. You can tell that prince has his stamp on this song. Both visually and sound wise it's the Revolution alright.
Prince was The Revolution. He played ever instrument on the record. The others only joined him at love concerts pal.
Great song, there is a lot of 'Prince magic' in it.
How cool is this.... Wonderful Song.. Beautiful Shelia and great dance moves.. Love it 💞
Lots of bling! Love it, bring back the 80s!
Does it really get any hotter than this 80s funk diva? She is spectacular here. There was something so incredibly beautiful and seductive about the way she sang and moved on stage back then. And what a beautiful voice for this style! I always thought Sheila was like the perfect Prince partner, her and the earlier Vanity stuff.
Sheila E. forever, and peace and love to all of you who loved her from the beginning.....as did I.
Love the Beat! Brings me back to the 80's
Please bring it back. My teen years. The best years of my life. I miss the 80s. It makes me 😥
My mom was singing this the other day and I asked her the name of the song and POOF! here I am at 16 listening to and liking it and now the rest of Sheila's music 😁
What a brilliant performance. Can't stop watching them. Choreography out of this world compared to others.
The Jets
You were doing good until you said. The choreography was the best that you've seen trust me. It is not that good but the song is great trust me. You should try listening to the jets crush on you if you want to see choreography from a group or a band they were amazing.
Fantastic
Love the chemistry between Sheila and Miko on this
What a fashionista and performer!
She is awesome this lady✨ In the 80's there were also a lot of good musicians
Sheila = Total Badass.
Sheila E has got it going on
forgotten and most underrated... This song has deserved much more appreciation.
Strange, this song was more popular in UK (#18) than in the USA (#34).
A lot of work must have gone into the choreograpy, really pleasing to watch. First time i've seen this.
I love the syncronized dancin to the refrain.
check out the temptations...gladys knight and the pips motown in general ;-)
@@StylesLee uuhhmm ok...but i stand by my statement regarding synched dancing
@@StylesLee i cant even decipher what that means...
@@StylesLee well im not sure what this has to do with TSOs music but yes i do happen to be over 50 and have spent over 27 years 'looking' at allll types of music...and NO!! we do not need to talk...im just fine thanks for your concern
@@StylesLee that is again quite a large assuption on your part....you presume to know the contents of my heart based on this silly interaction...i can assure you that my heart is quite full of what it needs to be filled with...assumptions are very dangerous things when wielded the wrong way...have a great life even if you dont see a TSO show
what a great song love it verry good in life. prince. was involved.
I remember watching this on Mtv at Halloween party in ‘84 :)
I love this song, I wore the tape out from playing it over and over...
Bring the 80s back...
Put very simply, I absolutely love this.
I was searching for a Sheila track outside her two hits and wasn't feeling what I was finding and then stumbled on this gem. Great vibe and killer performance by the whole band.
The Glamorous life rocked my socks off in 1985, RIP Prince
entered Billboard Oct 27, 1984 ...reached #27
That Prince Influence tho 💕💕
I was 15 when this song came out. Now 53 it still my favorite song. 🎉🎉🎉 🙌🙌🎸🎸
Great year.. 1970
I still dance like this now....🦸♂️
Hadn't heard this in years. Some guy was posting a vid of him tweaking his Turn Table. Was a short snippet but me .... SHEILA EEEE.
So yeah here I am
Got Prince written all over it innit.
What a girl what a percussionist
October 27,1984 this song came out ! Happy Anniversary. 2020 still love this
Wow, that Prince sound of the 80's!
The Purple Pint Sized Pill Popper was a legend.
Pill popper???? You act as if he was your average addict. Pretty crazy to be calling him that when he was only on pills because of pain. So disrespectful.
I 'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love with Sheila E - her eyes can drive any human crazy
She has the Suzanna Hoff sideways stare that floors any man or woman at 50 paces!
Femenine version of the best Prince of the whole life!
Definitely the eyes
Another hit written by Prince.
Sheila E. One of the best.
i love "the glamorous life" but i love this even more. should have been a bigger hit. thank you Prince!
After seeing this I can say: I can die in piece now! A Big thanks to you!
Prince could write an awesome track, and she is one of the most gorgeous and talented musicians around...best female drummer around.
Karen Carpenter was massively superior behind a drum kit.
I was looking for this title for 36 years, thanks youtube
love her songs n voice..wish we had more singers like her now.
This is one of my fav..This is when her music was good.
It wasn't really her music. Produced, arranged and composed by Prince...
"The belle of St. Mark" song by Shela E. This was a complete different type of song at that time. I like this song very much, it is amazing!
I like to thank Ms. Sheila E specially for this song!
A forgotten classic. Great stuff!
Forgot all about this song, and I own the album. Prince was such a great songwriter.
My favorite year! Music, hair and clothing. I loved it all!
You can hear the sound of prince everywhere. He was the closest thing to the source of music that this world has ever seen. The source lent them to us for a few years, and then I guess wanted him back. We are so fortunate to even have had him for a few years.
Love
I remember this was a HUGE hit on radio Luxembourg. Heard it played four times in an hour. Unforgettable evenigs with radio pressed to my ear.
The 80's had the best music. All genres were great, well made songs/music.
Not a patch on the 50s 60s and 70s ..... Real music without synthesizers
Not every song in the 80's had synthesizers.@@original.dwornboy
Unforgettable ....
nice song loved the other songs her hair oh boy no. this song is great i wanna dance.
Beautiful production.
Goddess. ✨
❤️❤️❤️Glamarous Beautiful Fashionable Elegant 1980S❤️❤️❤️❤️
Unmistakably Prince in every way
A Prince production if ever there was one.
I think this is the clearest 80s music video clip I’ve ever seen
Most of the videos on the TopPop channel are very clear like this.
@it's me This is a P. A. Paisley Park did not produce a music video for the song.
Back in those days, North America and Europe used different television systems. America used NTSC which had a much lower pixel count and produced worse picture quality. Most of Europe used the PAL system which had a higher pixel count and therefore much better picture quality. Top Pop was made in the Netherlands, so better quality PAL pictures.
I was there in 1984👍
I love this song.
Geweldig 💪💪💪💪
These costumes 💗
Surprised one of the top comments isn't some n00b saying "Durr how was the video quality so good back then?" as if this was filmed in the 1800s
Way she moved was so magical.......Lightwork.
Damals waren wir noch Jung und Knackig, jetzt knackt es nur noch bei uns Top Song und Erinnerungen
Love this.
On one level, this is hilarious. A "band" mocking a song where it's pretty much just one guy (Prince) playing keyboards and drums. They did the whole "everyone steps the same way" thing that all the Prince projects were known for (and there were a lot of them in the 80s), but also...
This is a very good pop song. Sheila is an amazingly talented musician, and beautiful to boot.
this song is so beautiful , it brings me such memories
OOOOH the choreography! lol
this second single from her classic glam life album should've been a bigger hit during its time
Song was a weak second single
prince=awesome
Come thru Shelia, you baddie baddie 😘
She was a trendy looker in her day Sheila e and a fantastic drummer
I can't believe that "The Glamorous Life" album is 40 years old this year
Beautiful song, favourite for many years*
I still have the 12"...I played it constantly back in the day
I freakin love her!!!!
Just love it.
nice uptempo and dancing
This was a prince song sheila e did a fantastic job she played in prince,s band on percussions🎹
Brilliant,thanks !,
What a great song. Man, I miss this time...
I shall just wait for the elite few to arrive after reading Purple Haze Feedback- Fly high Massimo..

16 and loving this song and now her other music 🎶😁
Das war noch Musik zum Dauerhören 😊
Love this song! Well done performance...also she is singing about a 17 year old hottie, good for you girl!
Not good at all, she gave him crabs.
@@iridescentprism5113 Is that what the lyrics say? 🤔 /s
@@triphophoney2981 More importantly, no way did I make that comment EiGhT mOnThS aGo??!!
Seriously though, corruption of the innocent is a no-no for me.
@@iridescentprism5113 But an 80s 17- year-old was more mature compared to today's 17-year-old. Not saying I condone that sort of thing, but it was a reflection of the times.
@@triphophoney2981 🤨
Нравится эта группа и певица долго их искала
I'm in love with Marks bellend
Haha!
you're both virgins
Another Prince classic
djbethell
Yep he took her under his wing
it wasn't Prince
@@bp6329 Prince wrote the song and he produced it.
When I saw Sheila, I could see Suzanna from a Hero Takes a Fall music video (The Bangles), and then pretty much composite every other love interest that Prince had...he really had a type!!
i remember this song when i was a young girl.... it was sooo cool and it still is today when I see Sheila E

i have no idea why but this tune popped in my head a week or so ago, i havent heard it since it was out in the 80's, i had it on a compilation album.
ive not heard it for over 30 years yet is still knew all the words for the fist verse and chourus.
I think I'm in love with the Belle of St. Mark after this song. And I was a straight guy. Go figure
