Growing up in the 1950's, velveeta was the only cheese my family could afford. We sliced it for sandwiches using a little, safe, hand held utensil. Always had velveeta on hand.
The amazing hand held cheese slicer that was just the right size and made the perfect slice. The ones nowadays are big, bulky and inconvenient to use. So glad I scooped up my mom’s original one from way back when, before our family home was sold with whatever contents were left behind❣️
I miss our slicer! It was great.
Velvetta was all we could afford in the 70s.
We had one of those little slicers too. I remember it well! But it’s not cheap anymore! Right now, it’s just a bit under $9 for a 2 lb block.
I was born in 1945 and throughout the 50s my mother always made Mac & Cheese with Velveeta. I loved it. Cook the macaroni, make a roux and cut Velveeta into small cubes then mix it into the roux and stir until melted, add macaroni. Pour into buttered casserole dish, top with crushed saltines and melted butter. Bake 350-degrees for 15-20 minutes (until lightly browned and bubbly. No cheddar, no onions. The roux was made with butter, AP flour, S&P. I still love her recipe, though I sometimes add peas or broccoli.
That sounds really yummy !😊😊
That's exactly how my momma made it too!
Mine too!
I was born in 1955 and was raised on velvetta Best grilled cheese sandwiches ever
@@mcgrin5996 me too!
More Velveeta recipes? Yes, please.
My mac and cheese uses half velveeta and half regular cheese. The cheese snobs don't know this in my family, but my dish of mac is almost always the one that is cleared out at gatherings. Some secrets are best left unsaid and much appreciated.
Exactly!
Yah. Food snobs are hilarious. It's one thing to know and appreciate foods, quite another to jump on the snob bandwagon and wrinkle the nose, especially without having tried ______.
My Mother always used Velveeta for grilled cheese sandwiches. That's many childhood lunches with tomato soup. Ahhh, comfort food. 😊❤
Same!
I remember when I was growing up, probably like six or seven years old we had Velveeta cheese all the time that’s the only thing we have in the house, but it came with a funny, little bored, and I wire thing that you cut cheese slices with, it was so cool and then later my mom got from like the filler brush, guy or something who came door to door as a freebie. This little wire thing with a roller that used to roll down the cheese and it made a perfect 8th inch slice. That’s a long time ago. I am 62 years old.
We had one too.
I remember that. Ate velveta sandwiches growing up.
We had one too! I’m 69
I still have mine and use it regularly. It did not come from the Fuller Brush man but we had other things from him. Boy, door to door salesmen, I'm really dating myself. 😅
I’m 72 and cannot remember a time Ed didn’t have Velveeta in the house. I still use it on occasion especially in my potato soup recipe.
Oh yum, I'm sure that's delicious!!!
Oh I’d love to see your potato soup recipe, yum!
@@VickiTheCraftAtticwould like to have recipe if u would give thank u if u do bless evening 😊
Yeppers, it makes terrific potato cheese soup and broccoli cheese soup, too! (I'm 60 & grew up with Velveeta. It's amazingly versatile.)
I use Velvetta in my family favorite Broccoli Casserole. I have carried this to any family meal for 50 years. One dinner (many decades ago) I decided to make something different. When I got to the dinner, my nieces were so disappointed that I hadn't brought Broccoli Casserole, I came back home & made it to take back to the dinner.
I wrote the recipe on cards & mailed them to each of my 4 nieces. The 1st niece to receive her recipe card called her sisters to say she was the proud owner of my recipe. The other 3 got their copies in the mail shortly after. My daughter also makes for potluck & holiday meals. I will submit my recipe per your link.
I really enjoy your family, recipes & Miss Gracie. Thank you!
Steven doesn't have to say a word, his eyes say it all! What a sweetheart.
Yeah his face gives it away
My dad (I'm 65) called Velveeta "cheese butts," claiming it was the ends of all of the other cheeses. 😆 And, yes, it was around in the 50"s and 60's when my siblings and I were growing up. We saved the boxes to use as coffins for all of the small pets that we often had funerals for!
😅
OHMYGOSH!! We used it all the time in the 70’s in the dorm with Rotel, sausage, and Velveeta!! Best dip ever!!
Yes that's the way it was made. Yummy.
I think that’s the only thing I’ve ever used it for, but it does make an excellent dip!
Add a hunk of cream cheese to that. You will not be sorry!
Edisto Beach trip every year. Everyone made & brought food & my friend Ann always brought the Rotel, Velveeta, sausage dip. Didn't last a day😋.
Yummmmmm
Around midnight and you want nachos... chunk of velveta in a pyrex custard cup, water most of the way up the sides of the cheese, three or more drops of hot sauce, nuke and mush with a fork, and take it back to the tv with a bag of chips.
I take a box of Velveeta Shells and Cheese add hamburger and bacon to it all the time. It's a single fathers dream. Quick, easy and loved lol
Girl Scout Gumbo
2 lb. hamburger
2 cans vegetable soup
1/2 lb. Velveeta, cut into pieces
1 bag Fritos
Salt and pepper, to taste
Fry hamburger and drain grease. Then add soup and cheese. Cook in large pot until hot and cheese is melted. Serve over crushed corn chips.
Sounds delicious might give it a try without the salt has plenty with the cheese and soups just add some garlic powder with the pepper
Sounds good except for the veggie soups. Leave out 😊
I’d love to see more Velveeta recipes. I’m from Salem, Oregon. I love listening and watching all your shows. Keep up the good work!
Bend, here. Hi, neighbor!
Thanks Linda!!
Portland here! Hi neighbors! 👋❤
I have to laugh every time Steven takes a bite of something because if that fork ain’t full when it leaves the plate he’ll just keep stabbing at that food till it won’t hold anymore
Yes, more Velveeta recipes please. These all look so good, can't wait to make them!
I grew up eating Velveeta mac and cheese. Basically cooked buttered shell pasta with slices of velveeta melted over top in a skillet. YUMMY!!!!!!
I can’t believe you hadn’t cooked with Velveeta. It’s the best creamy cheese you can use. More recipes, please.😊
Funny - my Dad used Velveeta as FISH BAIT! When he would go fishing, he would put a little velveeta on the hook and boy, the fish loved it! Growing up, I always saw this as fish bait and when I saw someone cook with it I almost threw up! I like it now, it is good stuff! I have been watching you for a couple of years now and I love your videos! Love Gracie! I have 2 cats - both females one named Abby and the other Ozzie (there is a story to this if you are interested!
We did this too when I was a kid...even kraft singles we woukd smoosh into a little ball and use for fish bait. Worked great
Oh yes, I would definitely love and appreciate more Velveeta recipes❣️
Growing up, my mom never bought individually sliced and wrapped cheese (like Kraft Singles). We did, however, always have a box of Velveeta cheese in the fridge. That’s what we used for our grilled cheese sandwiches (before such a thing as velveeta slices). One of my favorite sides made with the velveeta was cheesy scalloped potatoes. Omgoodness, the nostalgia…. I almost can’t ❤. My mom only made said cheesy scalloped potatoes as a side with meatloaf. Now to me, that’s
comfort food 101. Thank you for this great video, with such amazing sounding recipes (I’ve already printed all 3 of them!!), but I also can’t say thanks enough for this stroll down memory lane ❤. And the reminder of the cheesy scalloped potatoes and meatloaf dinner that I’d basically forgotten about. Looks like I’ll be doing some amazing recipes with velveeta cheese. I can’t wait😊. Love your channel, love your family and love everything you stand for ❤
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!
It's like we are friends & I live next door.
Love the kitty!
light fluffy soft scrambled eggs with melted velveta cheese placed inside a vine ripe tomato hallowed out. simple quick and oh so yummy.
Sounds delicious ❤
As my late MIL (from Arkansas) would say…. “Oh my gravy!” When Steven popped off with: “I don’t know what’s wrong with him, we need to check his head.” I fell off the couch laughing. Y’all don’t know the joy you bring to the world. ❤
Growing up, Velveeta was ALWAYS in the fridge. Mom just used it on cheese burgers, grilled cheese, & on the holidays, for dip, but when I moved out, I added it to soups, cold macaroni salads, homemade mac n cheese, hot ham and cheese...you can use it for a ton of things.
We'd run out of Velveeta & American cheese slices, so (& I know Steven doesn't love cream cheese, so he'll have to forgive us for this one), we used a block of cream cheese, some shredded chicken (you could use canned chunk chicken, too), & a large jar of salsa to make chip dip, all warmed up. (I would have added a few ingredients, at least chopped grn onion, but we were tired, & the kids are way pickier eaters). The kids loved the simple version, we enjoyed it, and it wasn't as heavy as Velveeta sometimes feels in dips, & it was so fast & easy which we needed, because it was already 9 p.m.
Also, a good dip to serve as a snack or as an add-on to make sure there's enough food when doing a BBQ or picnic; take a few cans of chunked ham, drain them, mashed them up with a fork. Add a small container (or more, depending on how many cans of ham you're using) of Top the Tater, mix it well. (Add more of either ingredient if you feel it's unbalanced, but you usually want more Top the Tater than you want ham). You can tell by taste, or, just make it how your taste buds tell you to. Serve with crackers. (It always goes fast, & it's super quick to make).
Mom made mac n' cheese the easy way. Boiled mac, butter, cubed Velveeta and whole milk poured in greased casserole dish. Bake for an hour at 350. So creamy and and yummy 😋. Child of the 50s.
For small households, Velveeta comes packaged in a box of individually wrapped 2 oz cubes now as well. Just right for one serving. No waste. Fantastic.
I have to quit liking and emoji laughing. This video has sparked the funniest comments (and memories). I haven't stopped chuckling at them. ❤❤❤
Many years ago, I won a little contest at the local Friend of the Library gathering. It was for the most unusual surprise ingredient. It was made with Velveeta and it was Chocolate Fudge. I don't even remember now where the recipe came from, but it did not taste like cheese. It was just smooth and rich and chocolatey. Love all 3 of these and really want to try to chili cheese spaghetti.
I remember years ago when Paula Dean was first on food Network. She made a Velveeta chocolate fudge. I've never tried it but I can't imagine it being bad haha
Made that cheezy fudge for a show and tell speech for senior English. Got an A.
Yes Please! More Velveeta recipes for sure 😉👍🏻
I thought every Southern kitchen had Velveeta!!! It's Soooo good!😋
YESSSS more Velveeta recipes..
More velveeta recipes. I have used Velveeta my whole life. It doesnt break when making sauces. Think cheese sauce and substitute velveeta and a little milk or rotel --- no need for a roux. It is the secret to my husband's famous grilled cheese sandwiches.
I like to also used velveeta cheese slices.
Love your show and your family
I make a "to die for" Broccoli cheese soup with Velvesta. I've been told that mine is better than the local restaurants who serve it. I'll have to send you my recipe for that.
Please do. That sounds delicious.💓
Ohhhhh I would love your broccoli cheese soup recipie please if you don't mind sharing
Please share, I love broccoli cheese soup!
Growing up, my mom always used Velveeta to make mac & cheese. She would bake it in the oven.😋🥰 No bread crumbs, just extra pieces of Velveeta on top!
Velveeta makes the BEST grilled cheese sandwiches. My mom used to work in the factory where it was made way back in the day.
My sister and I always loved making Velveeta grilled cheese sandwiches with a bowl of soup. This was back in the 60's. Still remains as a staple in our kitchen.
Hi Mandy. I loved this video. You guys are too funny!😂😂 I rarely use Velveeta, unless I’m making Rotel dip. I’ve never seen taco spaghetti with chili beans in it! Mandy you have a knack for finding recipes that I’ve seen before but with a twist!😃
Thank you so much for sharing.
🤗💕
Think Cincinnati chili. it is served with spaghetti
Hey y'all 😁 I love Velveeta!!! I use it for cheese enchiladas and growing up my mom (now myself) used it in lasagna. We aren't fans of ricotta or cottage cheese, so we use mozzarella and Velveeta in the layers. It's absolutely delicious 😋
I can't get enough of you guys! I love your recipes, and i love the both of you!!!!!
There's only one caveat to using Velveeta. Don't call it cheap. It has exploded in price. I still love it, and if I get it on sale I buy an extra and it freezes fine. Also, for the past few years I've switched to the Clancy brand which is sold at Aldi. It is delicious. Yes, please give us more Velveeta recipes.
I love Aldi & I love a good deal! :)
Yes please more Velveeta recipes. Everything looks wonderful. Blessings 😊
I make a spicy dip with one cooked diced jalapeno, and one cooked diced onion. Add in 1 can of evaporated milk along w/ a blocked of cubed velveeta. Let it melt, and serve w/ corn chip scoops. It is good served cold too. We take this on camping trips. So good! But it's spicy. :)
Came for the recipes, stayed for the fun and Ms. Gracie! You guys are so funny and I love watching you in the kitchen. Have a good weekend! ❤
I'm having some strong nostalgia with these! Home made hamburger helper!
They all looked delicious Mandy!! Thank you for sharing your wonderful recipes with us. I've never had processed cheese but I'm going to try those recipes. Sending blessings to you and your beautiful family. Give Gracie some love from me. Have a great week.
Velveeta Fudge is truly amazing.
Velveeta is a staple in our house. I make my mac and cheese with the it! I also make an enchilada casserole with velveeta. maybe i should send in a Subby Super.
Yeah do it
Send it in :)
I sent it today
More Velveeta recipes please. Those sound awesome. I will be trying those SOON.😍👍🏻
Watching you and family, makes a great day😊
I’m so happy that I stumbled across this channel.
Yes! Please!! To more Velveeta recipes!! 💕💗👍🏼🧀
Yes more please, can't wait to try them.
Velveta makes the best broccoli cheese soup
Thank you for your service in the Air Force!!!
Love the Velveeta episode. When I make scalloped potatoes and ham I always add the Velveeta cubes in the white sauce and pour it over the sliced potatoes and bake about 50-60 minutes. Depending on how many potatoes you used. I usually cook a ham for Christmas dinner so a few days later I start slicing the ham off the bone and use those to add to my sliced potatoes. It's delicious! Enjoy!
I love Velveeta it melts so nice
Thank you for your Service ❤❤❤
Yes please, more recipes. 😊❤❤
All sounds delicious!!😋
I used to make a queso Mac and cheese using Velveeta cheese. My kids loved it!!❤
There’s also a chocolate fudge recipe that contains Velveeta.
I've made that! Doesn't taste like cheese one bit.
I agree. You'd never know it was in there.
Yes, try the fudge. My Mother-in-law made it in the 70s every Christmas time. Really creamy.
Love Velveeta!! The recipes look so good!!!
Lucky video right now. My Walmart had Velveeta and Rotel for $.50 each. And I bought more than I know what to do with. Anyway, lucky me!!! Thanks, Mandy, for doing the leg work.
Love using Velveeta-that dip yumm! def. going to try that one
We just made the Cheeseburger Mac and Cheese. This is the first time we've used Velveeta and we are HOOKED! Delicious recipe, @Mandy!
Great to hear!
These all look delicious!! 😋
Love this so much!! We always have Velveeta in the pantry!!
We tried Velveeta Cheeseburger Mac and Cheese last night for dinner and it was a hit. This was super tasty, hardly ever use Velveeta cheese before so this was super awesome to make this. I will be making this again real soon the whole family loved it thanks so much for sharing this and I enjoy your channel so much!
Mandy you surely out did your self this video is tops I am doing all of them just a big WOW!!!!!! Thank you !!!!!
Okay, well, I'm 73 and I had never heard of Velveeta cheese growing up. The fist time I had it, was when I was in my 20's. AND, that was the last time.
I prefer real cheese. There are so many other ones that "are to die for"!
Thanks hon. Growing up, my mom didn't use velveeta but I like the creaminess of it. So, thank you.❤
This something my mom would make many years ago so simple but so good .thank you
Thank you so much for sharing these recipes!! It would be great to see more of your son and his options too! 💕🙏🙏
All of those look delicious. I love to make the dip with the white velveeta. It’s so delicious!
wow that dip looks delish!!! yum
Awesome recipes, thanks Mandy 👍👍👍
Mindy, My Pepe' was 18 years old when that came out. I Love it and have Two boxes in my Refrigerator. You have WONDERFUL MEALS that you share. God Bless you and your family
I love you guys! You crack me up!!!
Mom had it in the frig often. I think I got in trouble for just cutting a good hunk of it off and just eating it. I think she needed it for a recipe. 😊
The dip looks so good. Kept that recipe ❤
My Aunt has a recipie for velvetta, she uses it to make pementto cheese. It's super easy, and it's great to snack on
I am definitely trying the dip o my goodness it looks amazing!!! I use velveeta a lot around our the holidays dips and etc!!!
This is hilarious! I saw you video and started to laugh! I NEVER have it in my fridge but just happen to have a half a block now. Bring on the recipes!!
Everything looks good! I use Velveeta in my potato soup. 😋
Good afternoon Mandy and Steven and thank you for sharing your yummy meals
Yummy again, Mandy! Thank you all so much. I don’t use velveeta often but I do put some in my Chicken Spaghetti. It’s so creamy. You guys stay safe. The weather has really been bad. 🩷🙏
I love adding onion to ground beef as well. I think it adds so much more flavor!! Good job!
my mom always used Velveeta to make grilled cheese sandwiches. yummy!
will be making the last one tonight! My family loves things like this for dinner with a salad. Thanks Mandy.
My family loves Velveeta. My late husband made the best homemade Mac and cheese with Velveeta and a little cheddar . I ll take as many Velveeta recipes you've got because it looks like I'll be able to cook them in the hotel. Thank you for sharing 💜
Velveeta is a staple in our cabinet! This is one of our bi-weekly meals (the 1st recipe). I've never added ketchup. But I have added drained Rotel delicious. Thank you for your videos. We love Velveeta. I was so excited when I seen your menu. God bless
I always add some Velveeta to the Hamburger Helper recipes. And the cowboy queso is habit forming!
Velveeta was a staple my mom always had in the fridge. It made great grilled cheese and mac n cheese. Would love more recipes. I think my husband would love everything you just made.
I use Velveeta in my baked macaroni and cheese and also to make a cheese sauce for broccoli and cauliflower. Yes, more Velveeta recipes please.
I've made the first one several times as my guys love it as a comfort food. I've done similar dips for gatherings and put the dip into a small baby crock pot to keep it warm and runny. Another crowd pleaser! Depending upon the situation I've used chicken instead of pork and some are spicy with hot peppers and some are kid friendly without. Very versatile!
How funny! My baby sister was name Velveeta cuz dad loved, loved cheese (especially Velveeta cheese) like nobody's business! 😂🤣 Brought back some good memories and thanks for sharing some delicious looking dishes!
The sausage dip looks delicious definitely making this one ❤🌻 Thank You Ma'am!!
These all look delicious! I won’t make them anytime soon, as I’m working on losing weight, but I love watching your videos and saving the recipes for another time. Have a blessed week!
I'm so glad you did these videos. I would be interested in more recipes with Velveeta cheese. I'm going to try the dip recipe
Velveeta has always been a staple in my house😁
