Just starting playing over one year ago. Didn't know they had USA PB Nationals. All of you folks are awesome! I am very impressed and inspired by your strength, accuracy and much more. I am learning a few techniques just from watching. Stay strong, healthy, and well. 👍
Wonderful and exciting to play in this tournament and see fantastic Pros like these ladies. Happy Simone and Lucy are partnering. Thanks for broadcasting and the great commentaries: RESPECT THE NET ! :-)
Great women's doubles match. Simone does a great job of staying low and long at the kitchen line. High-level stuff. I'm so proud of all of them. I was at that tournament but didn't' see that match live. So, it was good to be able to come back and watch it later. Dave W. does a great job with the play by play. AnnaLeigh is an unbelievable competitor and she and her mom are only going to get better. Lucy and Simone make a great team even though they are still getting used to playing with each other. Jeananne did a great job in organizing this tournament
WOW! Check out the incredible over the head running away from the net shot Simone makes in the rally starting at 7:50 while Wienbach talks about cross court dinking. GREAT match. Several of the best rallies I've seen in this match.

Aloha...Great game! Nice commentary Dave and Joy! You kept your focus on the game, the players, their strategies, etc., and didn't talk about other distracting "stuff" during points. Thanks so much!
It's more than a foot...a lot. The blonde girl is giving up too much territory, looking for the chance to power her backhand, as if she's playing tennis...not good pickleball strategy against players of Simone and Kovalova's skills. Get up to that line and hit the ball on a fly!
It would be acceptable to stand a foot behind the NVZ if she stepped into her volleys, with appropriate footwork. I don't see this happening based on the skills and abilities of the player in this match.
Great match - but the camera cuts made it tough to enjoy.Editor kept cutting too late to the baseline camera - so we only see the last half of the winning shots (the finish and follow through). We can't see the whole winning shot (entire setup / prep / finish / follow through). Instead of confusing the viewer by switching cameras exactly when the action heats up, either stay with the one camera, then show the other camera as a replay, or just cut to the other baseline camera one or two seconds BEFORE the start of any big finishing shot.
The Waters are talented. Definite strength is banging, but Simone and Lucy diffused the hard returns and got to a dinking game with some hard returns as well.
Note: the Texas open was not Anna Leigh’s first tournament. She played the Delray Beach Classic (I think that’s what it is called) with another junior tanner corbitt (he was probably about 12 at the time and it was his first tournament). They played 3.0 and got bronze (maybe). I don’t know about Leigh, but this is what I remember from looking at pickleball tournaments.com (I’m too lazy to look it up now) and talking to her partner there. They were also on espn.
The game and the video were fantastic. But could we have less useless banter by the commentators. Just the sound of the game is so much better to listen to, instead of the distracting chatter.
Does the Waters girl play competitive tennis? Reminds me a little of Amanda Anisimova. USTA needs to contact Anna and her parents. She has a ton of talent, and could be top 50 in the world by the time she is 20. Her footwork, hands, and balance are exceptional, and those are things that can't be taught. Interesting to see if Nick Bolleitieri has watched Anna.
Look for Simone Jardim's RUclips channel. She interviews Anna and and her mother. She plays 3 sports, it is pickleball, soccer, and I think it was tennis. But, Ana says she actually likes soccer the most.
@@RichardsWorld I saw the interview yesterday. Whether you love a sport the most does play a role in which one you choose. Ash Barty took a year and half off to play cricket; she is now 1 or 2 tennis player in the world. In Agassi's book, he mentioned wanting to play soccer as a little kid, but his dad Mike took him out so he could strictly play tennis as his tennis gift was so apparent. I am certain that Anna with the proper training and teaching can be a top 100 tennis player in the world. Her hands and foot work are amazing. As a fan, I hope her parents encourage her to pursue tennis. She has a gift that goes beyond pickleball and soccer, and tennis is her best option.
@@mrbobevans how do people know so much about what someone else should do with their life! She has options and will choose the one best for her, she has plenty of wisdom surrounding her I think
@@mrbobevans Agassi was pretty screwed up for all sorts of reasons... but it must be hard to have something call to you and have it basically taken away. Of course the more they learn about headers, the more he may have dodged a bullet
@@elizabethheyenga9277 Unsure of what your are saying about Agassi (I read his book). Jimmy Connors (Agassi said an enemy of his) maintains that tennis gave Agassi everything (wealth and wife) and it is ridiculous that Andre berates tennis. I am saying that it would be great to watch Anna play at the tennis majors. Nothing to denigrate pickleball, but tennis has much more world wide following.
well the video people are slowly figuring out how to record this sport...still too much background clutter in the venue though..the colors and graphics on the court are distracting from following the ball..white on white ? how dumb is that ?....the tennis format works fine, so just use it...
Dan Parker better athletes how? Lol they run faster? If you have played singles in tennis and pickleball. There’s not much of a difference. You have a racquet that’s a foot longer than a small paddle giving you hella reach and more reaction time. There’s also less rallying in singles. Please shit up about things you don’t know. They don’t even get their own balls in tennis lol
Where is your singles. All of this sissy doubles needs a major correction. Singles should be the premier match. Then we go to "dah doubles". How is it that in tennis the premier matches are singles and in Pickleball the premier event is doubles. Is it really an old person's sport? Let's start promoting the real game...singles.
Its DNA is as a doubles game and I believe it is shown at its best that way. But hey - Pickleball and Tennis are two different games, who knew? It is clearly not an old person's sport though lots of old people play it. If tennis could allow for underhanded serves over a certain age as an option they might retain players.
Every tournament has a singles draw. The points in singles tend to be very short, so it isn’t very interesting for spectators. Pickleball is not “little tennis” it is a different sport. If you don’t like it, go watch tennis. Nobody cares.

Anna Leigh is #1 woman in the world now, at age 15. And the gap to second is huge.
The best of the best playing the best ! Simone and Lucy together ! Only The Waters to make them work for that medal !!! Awesome match.

Too much enthusiasm, IMO, very annoying.

Omg, I enjoyed the match, but had to mute the commentary.
4 years on and Simone's Prince paddle logo is blurred out
This is amazing pickleball. Thanks for making it available!
It appears the Waters often stand 1 foot further behind the NVZ line than most players do or are told to (during dinking) . Has this been discussed?

The announcers themselves discuss it, multiple times through the match. Are you watching with the volume off?
Richard Wang I turned off the volume after they used the word "Athletes" to describe these woman.
