Interesting fact about this movie. They hired physicists as consultants to tell them what a black hole might like as no one had ever seen one. In the intervening years we finally got an image of a real black hole and it looks like this movie predicted
I don't know if this is true, but I read that some individual frames took up to 100 hours to render; the final cut of the film was close to 800 terabytes of data.
Kip Thorne was consulted on the black hole stuff, and the 3D rendering of Gargantua was the most accurate model they could make with their math and theory at the time!
@@OMGtheykilledKenny42Well, we still don’t know what it truly, fully looks like. The first true image of a black hole is just a black circle with fuzzy orange-red coloring around it. It’s a 2D picture, so we still have no choice but to simply guess what it might look like up close in 3D.
Just catching this watch for the first time, and was literally thinking the same thing. There was some very intelligent and interesting conversation going on during their watch. Really enjoyed it.
yall I've watched a lot of Interstellar reactions and I mean it when I say this was some of the most fun I've ever had, yall did a great job with every aspect of this video from the reaction to the edit to understanding the complexities of the plot, just top-notch stuff all the way through guys. Keep up the awesome work!
We appreciate you Ray & that means a lot to us! We truly enjoyed this movie & all of the emotions we felt throughout it. We are grateful for you & happy you enjoyed our reaction💙
So many emotional moments in this movie but poor Romilly after being alone for 23 years...no company, no human touch...had literally had shrunk into himself. The 1st time he sees people in so long when Brand & Cooper goes back to the Endevour, you can just tell he so badly wants a hug or something...but Cooper walks straight past him. I felt sooo awful for him 😭
Felt every emotion while watching this movie! I (swizz) felt bad for him bc before they left he talked about being in space freaking him out & then being alone, out in space for 23 years i couldn’t imagine. The actors/actresses did an amazing job in this. When they get back on the ship during that scene EVERYTHING hit finding out how long they were gone. Was good to see Brand hug & touch his face.
What really makes him solid, is despite being awake for most of that, unlike Mann, he never broke, didn't try to book, didn't try to get to the surface to see them again.
@adamscott7354 AND the fact that space kinda freaked him out...the conversation he had with Cooper about there being nothing but a thin wall between them and space (can't remember exact words) but still he stayed! After 23 yrs alone and scared, poor dude had literally resorted to holding his own damn hand
Romilly is actually a fascinating part in this movie. Such a small role, but David Gyasi obviously really thought about it and managed to squeeze every drop of reserved intelligence and quiet stoicism out of the portrayal - there's a real stereotypically "British", quality to it and it was no surprise to find out, that's where he's from: however, it wasn't a caricature - he played it straight... He turned a bit-part into a truly affecting and unforgettable character, and a calling-card to casting Directors.
So when the higher beings(future evolved humans) dismatled the tesseract, they left him just outside of saturn, near where the first wormhole was, that's why he interected(the first handshake) with Dr. Brand in the spaceship, while they were going through the wormhole to the other galaxy. One thing you need to remember is that, EVERYONE, other than Dr. Brand and Cooper, were 74 years older in the future because of the blackhole. So she would never find Dr. Edmunds because he would've etiher died of lack of supplies or of old age. And Dr. Cooper(daughter) was only alive because of cryosleep.
Your reaction to them returning to Rom after 23 years was truly priceless. I feel like most if not all who see this movie….through all that goes on at millers planet in such a short time, kind of forget that he’s the under the same time shift as earth. So when we see him we are completely stunned.
100%! It was such a short time & we don’t comprehend the time difference which is what caught us off guard. Hit me (swizz) knowing that she also landed hours, maybe minutes before they did & died but it was YEARS on earth
@@DaKidsReact yeah that was a sneaky little tidbit bit they threw and there where you’re just like “damn! that’s wild!” And STILL we forget about poor Rom up there lol. Rom got the short end of the stick for sure…waits 23 years by himself and then gets blown up…ugh. He did not deserve that, dude was the man!
I skipped this one in theater because a friend said it was dumb. Turns out he was dumb. A lot of people gave it thumbs down because they just couldn't follow.
WHAT….. 10/10 movie if you can keep yourself focused & follow along. It wasn’t hard to do that & if you did I’m pretty sure people 9/10 would say it was amazingly done.
@DaKidsReact just watched a man on the street trivia video. The guy asked "What language do they speak in Idaho?". The guy struggled for a second, then said "Japan?"... That's why there are fifty Too Fast Too Furious movies and everything is a reboot. Enjoying your reactions.
Bro this movie still makes appearances in random theaters around the country to this day. Keep a look out and check. I think it usually in bigger cities. But I’ve seen it when I looked recently because I also missed out on this in the theatre debut.

You should def watch The Martian next. Matt Damon in space again, but this time he wins you back and makes you forget all the hate you got for him from Interstellar.
@@OMGtheykilledKenny42I didn't know that. I read the book* and never watched the movie bc i don't really care for matt damon, or movie adaptations of books... but it's cool to know that these other actors get into the action too
I recently saw both movies for the first time, not realizing Matt Damon is in both of them haha. dude is all over space 😂 great performance in both, I love thinking about things from Dr. Mann's perspective. he was once a hero too, goin through that wormhole to try and save humans. then he got pushed into a corner and his humanity kicked in, his survival instinct. such great writing
33:41 fun fact : the gigantic wave isn't really moving. it is huge because the water is getting pulled up towards the strong gravitational pull of the nearby black hole. It "moves" because the planet is rotating.
@@zacharyramsli8002lol, sure I am not here to convince you or anyone. Its just an interesting fact. Why do you have to choose to buy what i say when google is literally 10 seconds away? Don't be lazy. There's youtube videos, quora, reddit, fandom, discussing the miller planet theories of Kip Thorne, who is a theoretical physicist, and is the scientific consultant and executive producer of Interstellar (2014), and wrote the book The Science of Interstellar. I gave you those for free, but you still have to read up yourself to find out the how it is possible to do "rotation in 1hr or whatever". So you can disagree with Kip Thorne instead, provided you publish your own theoretical physics on gravitational pull that goes against his, as depicted in the movie. But the movie is based off his theories so maybe you can explain how it is not possible, we would like to hear.
@@zacharyramsli8002 You don't have to buy what I say. You just buy from the person who created it for the movie. Go and read fandom on miller planet based on Kip Thorne theories of constructing miller planet and gargantua. And read up who Kip Thorne is. Then come back.
@@zacharyramsli8002 It actually does check out.... They did push theory to the absolute mathematical limit - and certain visual/cosmetic compromises were made to make it work as a movie - otherwise, 'though, the _scientific/mathematical_ basis for this movie was literally _forensically_ accurate, according to the best current understanding. If you can, you might enjoy to read Kip Thorne's book to accompany the film, which covers all his work and which is basically an astrophysics degree primer. There'll be no doubt remaining.
Y’all understood this movie almost better than any reaction I’ve seen from anyone. It’s an amazing and trippy movie that has lots of twists and turns. Y’all’s facial expressions and when y’all were catching on and the realization came before it was even explained, very intelligent men. I don’t think that Cooper rescued Band. I think that he went to her and helped start the colony in the “past”. His love is what helped him find the correct moment in time for his daughter, and his love for Brand is likely what he had to use to find the moment in time to go back to Brand. I think they likely fell in love and started the human race on that other planet, and Murph saved the people of Earth because they could travel and go out towards Saturn. Cooper went back in time and made the “new Earth” that would later develop humans into 5 dimensional beings, etc. I’m glad y’all enjoyed it. Y’all just got a new subscriber, and I look forward to seeing many more.
I think what some people miss is Professor Brand and Dr. Mann are the typical Humans and Coop is the idealistic one; the one we all want to be but few actually turn out to be … We are selfish and we lie (even with good intentions) to get people to do what needs to be done, in our eyes. Most of us would have pushed the button to get saved, or chose not to go at all. The hero in a story is special because most of humanity doesn’t behave that way. We’d all like to believe we would, but when the chips are down (in such a way as in these types of stories), we usually make the wrong choice.
Dr Mann (first name is Hugh) was called "the best of us" by Dr Brand. I always find it so interesting that he's explaining to the team why Plan A was necessary, knowing full well that he had also chosen survival of self over survival of the species.
@@HopeIsForbiddenHere In an idealistic and manipulative way, he viewed his and Professor Brand’s sacrifices as the greatest…even after he was rescued and tried to maroon Coop and Dr. Brand. I never really agreed with Coop, though, that the “sacrifice is being made by the people back on earth who are gonna die”. If they didn’t know about the program, they can’t be sacrificing anything. They’re just living and dying.
@@DaKidsReact Being selfish isn’t mutually exclusive with malevolence. Being altruistic isn’t synonymous with benevolence. That’s where the nuance of the human experience and intent comes in. Life’s messy. And we’re just here for the ride.
It's actually _"Do not go gentle into that good night, but rage, rage against the dying of the light"._ It's a poem about not accepting death passively, but resisting it. It's not a metaphor for a black hole, it's a metaphor for those 12 volunteer astronauts, Cooper and his crew - and Murph - who were not passively accepting the death of humanity on earth, but trying to fight against it.
The tesseract was in the 5th dimension. Much like inside the wormhole. The future humans placed him outside the wormhole with just enough time to get picked up by cooper station which was those lights you saw.

You are THE FIRST channel I've watched to remember the Dust Bowl. And I've watched A LOT of reactions to this film.😂 Everyone seems to forget about that. This was Dust Bowl 2.0. I always wondered if they refilmed actual first-hand interviews from people who remember the real one. Additionally, I'm a Murphy, so this is was a great father/daughter movie for me and my pops.

I might be wrong, but I think they actually did. These people at the beginning are talking about their experience of it and are not actors talking about this sci-fi future depicted in the movie, hence why it feels so genuine. That's pretty genius.

I recall trying to hold my tears during the movie, but by the end my head hurt so much that I ended up sobbing uncontrollably and felt such relief. I watched with my dad who's no longer with us and now it makes me cry even harder.

Love your reactions! The footage about the dust bowl in the beginning came from a documentary, all except for the actress playing Murph were survivors. Also, I like how the doctor told Coop how they studied him in high school, bringing that history back compared to his meeting with the school years ago.
That blew our minds when that doctor said they studied him back in high school. This movie did a fantastic job at emphasizing the time that Coop lost. It was sad to see but also really cool to see how space travel is conducted and its effects on individuals.

I love the way this film brings the poem to life: And you, my father, there on the sad height, Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray. Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light. - Dylan Thomas
My dad and I have been super close ever since I was little. This movie broke me from a daughter’s prospective. Sob every time I see it. The first time I had to stop watching after the scene with the videotapes. I couldn’t watch cause I had a whole breakdown over it. I just pictured that was my dad and I. Such a masterpiece.
My favorite movie of all time. Hits like nothing else. Glad you guys took this amazing journey. “Because my Dad promised me”. Turns me into a blubbering mess every time.
Felt EVERY emotion during this movie. Only regret is how long it took us to finally watch this but happy we could capture this experience for you all. That line hits different🔥😬
1:04:00 What you are seeing is called gravitational lensing. The disk they are flying over surrounds the equator - roughly - of the blackhole. But the gravity is so strong that light becomes distorted, so you are seing the portion behind the blackhole, only it appears as that sort of arch over the top of it. Viewed from afar, you see the back part of the disk appear both above and bellow the blackhole. Although the actual blackhole is much smaller than the black area, that just marks the event horizon, beyond which light cannot escape. This we actually can observe with the Hubble Space Telescope. You'll see this lensing occur when looking at dense clusters of galaxies, the intense collective gracity of the cluster causing lensing that results in galaxies behind them appearing as distorted arches and lines around the edges of the cluster
This is my favorite movie of all time. I just discovered reactions to Interstellar. This is the best reaction by far. Yall caught on to almost everything from the jump. I enjoyed watching it.
The reason they go into a spin after leaving the space station is to generate centrifugal force…which simulates gravity so they can walk around, lay down, etc…
You two are my new favorite reactors. I really enjoy your insight and commentary. I watch whatever I see you put up and I'm now subscribed. Thank you both!
A cool fact about this movie is that CGI artists working on the black hole figured out how black holes work just by trying to simulate one! Cool stuff! :D
I have seen this movie many, many, many times. I can pay y'all no higher compliment than to say that you made me feel like I was watching it for the first time again. Thank you, gentlemen.
1:05:00 Tony_Win 9y ago After they leave Earth's orbit, Coop wants to open up. But Brand is apprehensive as she states she doesn't want to talk as much. Coop turns to TARS to ask for his honesty setting, which is at 90%. TARS explains that fully honesty with emotional beings do not lead to accurate and correct decisions. Coop then agrees to 90% with Brand. Fast-forward, Coop withholds information from Brand for the sake of the 'mission'. Que the 90%... That 10% allowed Brand to fully focus on the mission ahead instead of allowing Coop, in her mind, to die for her.
You guys picked up on a lot of the story, more than most I’d say. A great reaction to this movie for sure. This is one of my favourite movies. Saw it 3 times in theatre and was blown away each time. And cry every time

1:18:27 I see how it would make you think they are connected, cause remember when they were on their way to Saturn, they stopped at Mars first, then they use Mars's gravity to slingshot themselves towards Saturn. But know these two movies are not connected.
Big thumbs up! Enjoyed watching this with y’all 💯 you definitely understood a lot of the plot points that sometimes go over peoples heads. Definitely my favorite movie of all time and glad you guys enjoyed it as much as me!
Late to your reaction but appreciate you guys watching this. This is my favorite film of all time. I think it encompasses everything a great movie should have. Thrilling action, beautiful imagery, a good story grounded in human compassion and empathy and some twists thrown in there.
I saw this one in the theatre and the entire thing from the second Romley tries to kill Coop was one of the most intense movies ever. The docking process and the music that plays when they're spinning is next level. One of the best scenes I've ever seen in a theatre. Thanks for watching dudes. Glad you liked it!
That scene where you said "what are we even seeing" thats a black hole that is pulling light and matter around it so fast that it looks like water. Neil Degrasse Tyson watched this movie and said the only thing that science can't support is what's inside a black hole. They nailed every thing else. So good.
Love your reaction to this move. It's just a great movie, with so many heartfelt and exciting moments. One of the things I like about this is that the robots are on our side. In other movies, they'd amp up the 'drama' by having the robots short out and start killing people, but on this there was no way to do it without them, and they pulled through in every way. TARS and CASE are the MVPs. I just wish they had shown Coop reaching Amelia at the end. One of Nolan's best.
We appreciate you💙 10/10 movie. We agree as well! It was almost like a breath of fresh air knowing that Tars, Case & Coop wanted the best for humanity & was willing to sacrifice themselves in order to do so. The scene w/ Mann trying to get on the docking but Tars changed the sequence made us so happy! Same!!! It sucked not seeing them reach each other & hug! I can’t imagine how the ones that landed felt being alone for that long😢

This reaction got my sub.....this is my favorite movie all time and I still remember the awe I felt watching it the first time. While I don't get that first time over again, this was close.
This movie is great on the first watch. Then you start thinking about it like "wait... how exactly is an alien world going to be in someway better than Earth?" and "wait, why did they go to the black hole time warp planet first? What if one of the other ones paid off and they didn't need to waste literal lifetimes for nothing?" and "WAIT, what would the RESPONSE on Earth be after the first 15 years and they're still watching them in slow motion from orbit!?"
Fun fact you are right, the footage that looks old of me he elderly taking about the dust was real interviews for a 1980’s documentary on the dust bowls of the 1930’s that was catastrophic to crops and also had a blyte problem . Nolan refeenced the documentary to make it this a reoccurrence of the trap event and loved the interviews so much he chose to add them into the movie . Genius having older murph in a similar interview to where we don’t realize it’s his daughter talking about it.
One of my favorite movies of all time. Everything from the performances from the cast, the score, the visual effects... perfection. I am very happy you guys liked this film

By the way, all the NASA scenes were actually filmed in Los Angeles at a hotel called the "Westin Bonaventure". They repurposed it to look like a space station. Also, if you ever saw the movie "True Lies", this is the same hotel where they filmed the famous "horse chase" scene where Arnold Schwarzenegger rode his horse to the roof chasing the guy on the motorcycle. I rode up on the same elevator. Yes, this was one of the more amazing films I've ever watched.

Same, they helped me understand the movie so much, LOL!
Interesting fact about this movie. They hired physicists as consultants to tell them what a black hole might like as no one had ever seen one. In the intervening years we finally got an image of a real black hole and it looks like this movie predicted
That’s ridiculous🤯
I don't know if this is true, but I read that
some individual frames took up to 100 hours to render; the final cut of the film was close to 800 terabytes of data.
@@MaynardsSpaceshipit’s true, google “first image of black hole”. The physicists working on Interstellar were pretty spot on
Kip Thorne was consulted on the black hole stuff, and the 3D rendering of Gargantua was the most accurate model they could make with their math and theory at the time!
You dudes are some pretty smart guys. I watched reactions to this a ton, and you guys were right on it, nobody else I watched were...Grats!
We appreciate that!! Much love💙
Awesome reaction! I have a daughter and I can't watch this thing without crying. For sure a masterpiece.
We were both on the brink of tears multiple times during this reaction! AMAZING film🔥😢
What really makes him solid, is despite being awake for most of that, unlike Mann, he never broke,
didn't try to book, didn't try to get to the surface to see them again.
I think Cooper cares nobody but his children.
That makes sense thank you for explaining this!
Man this movie strikes a hell of a chord if you were lucky enough to have a dad and then lose him.
"Because my dad promised me" kills me every time
Your reaction to them returning to Rom after 23 years was truly priceless.
If I had to sum up this story in just one sentence, it would be "A father's love for his daughter transcends time and space." Such a beautiful movie.

🤯🤯
Not sure I buy that: that would mean the planet made a rotation in 1hr or whatever the time was between waves.
Mann are the typical Humans and Coop is the idealistic one; the one we all want to be but few actually turn out to be …
We are selfish and we lie (even with good intentions) to get people to do what needs to be done, in our eyes. Most of us would have pushed the button to get saved, or chose not to go at all.
The hero in a story is special because most of humanity doesn’t behave that way. We’d all like to believe we would, but when the chips are down (in such a way as in these types of stories), we usually make the wrong choice.
beautifully said.
Exactly! I (swizz) said that in the reaction it was the complete opposite of what he was trying to do.
@@DaKidsReact Being selfish isn’t mutually exclusive with malevolence.
Being altruistic isn’t synonymous with benevolence.
That’s where the nuance of the human experience and intent comes in.
Life’s messy. And we’re just here for the ride.
The professor was not talking in code. He was quoting a poem by Dylan Thomas, when he said: "do not go quietly into that dark night,"
Yeah, but it's an awesome metaphor for going into a "gentle" black hole, I never made that connection until this reaction
Well done bros, don’t be afraid to let those tears loose. This movie no matter how many times I’ve seen it, or how many times I see other people cry during it, it still gets me.
Oh, and this movie makes me cry pretty often; especially after Murph says “Because my dad promised me.”

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

YOOOO that "gentle" theory is actually insane, never thought about it
The reason they go into a spin after leaving the space station is to generate centrifugal force…which simulates gravity so they can walk around, lay down, etc…

After they leave Earth's orbit, Coop wants to open up.
Y'all are smart. It took me 5 watches to pick up half the things you guys pointed out. Props to you.
You guys picked up on a lot of the story, more than most I’d say. A great reaction to this movie for sure. This is one of my favourite movies. Saw it 3 times in theatre and was blown away each time. And cry every time
We appreciate that! We couldn’t imagine watching it in theatre as that’s a whole different experience. Definitely almost caught us a few times throughout the movie. 10/10 film
You should also watch Arrival. Arrival, Interstellar and The Martian are the trifecta of epic space movies even though Arrival is set on Earth. Its a really different vibe, pace and style to the other two and gets even better on a second and third watch!
"Hey Dad. You son of a b*tch."
Sad thing is, there are millions of people who'd say this to their father should they ever meet him.

Little fun fact, since the release of this movie in 2014. Only 1 hour and 26 minutes have passed on millers planet to this date.
1:07:27 - "what if you could do anything with spacetime?" Basic premise of the film.
I somehow missed this in the theater. Someone must have told me they didn't like it. Finally saw it 4 years ago, alone. Has it been 10 Years already? I missed it in theaters, I was too poor. Definitely going to watch it now in theaters
1:18:27 I see how it would make you think they are connected, cause remember when they were on their way to Saturn, they stopped at Mars first, then they use Mars's gravity to slingshot themselves towards Saturn. But know these two movies are not connected.

You’re never late & we appreciate you! Definitely one of the best films we’ve ever watched!
So good.
That ending makes me sob almost every time bro I can't even lie.
LOVE ur reaction, that was exactly me during my 1st impression!!
We appreciate you💙
Love your reaction to this move.

Yo. You guys are pretty cool! I appreciate how much you got into this flick.
We appreciate you & your support! Much love💙
One of my favorite movies of all time. Everything from the performances from the cast, the score, the visual effects... perfection. I am very happy you guys liked this film
This movie is hella impressive. You guys are impressive as well. You were guessing out the plot points so far in advance I couldn't believe it. I thought I was smart. Humbling
Appreciate the love and support! Films that we are super locked into we can usually guess a couple things right about the film but like you said this movie is super impressive and just watching it gave us all the thrill we needed. Happy you were able to enjoy your time over here with us.
Y'all just made my day! A pleasure to watch with you.
Happy you enjoyed our content😊💙
Yea, space is a trip. It's what helped lead me to believing in a creator. It's too vast and random while at the same time being very precise especially when creating life.
Since you love this Christopher Nolan sci-fi movie, you should watch the other sci-fi movies of Nolan, which happened to be top rated movies as well : Inception (2010), Tenet (2020), The Prestige (2006).
The very next one should be Inception (2010) !
We appreciate these suggestions! Adding ALL of these to our movies list. We haven’t seen inception, tenet, prestige or dune so we are excited to jump into those soon🔥
just such a beautiful well- written film there is really nothing else to say. This is one of these movies that just blows you away and tears you apart
You guys are CLUED on af - Subbed

1:07:04 was looking forward to seeing your reaction to this moment. Didn’t disappoint
1:12:57 this moment was great too
This movie was amazing. Enjoyed your reaction to it.
Because one of you mentioned “the dark abyss”, you should check out the movie “The Abyss” if you’ve not seen it.
Also “Tenet”.
Have gotten a lot of request for it so it’s added to our list🔥
This is my favorite movie ever, its such a deep and beautiful story with incredible visuals.
EASY 10/10 movie will definitely rewatch it again🔥
Love the design of the robots in this movie.
Definitely did as well! Loved the futuristic aspect of them, the humor & how they felt real.
I saw this last night free on RUclips. Not ashamed to say moved me to tears (the 23 years of messages scene and the death bed scene “because my dad promised me”😭). The catharsis we needed. I pray God grants me a daughter so we can watch the movie together on a big screen one day.
That scene definitely choked us up! And awhhh man having daughter and watching this together would have me ugly crying 😂😂😂 I wouldn’t be able to get through the movie lmao
Now you know why this is widely regarded as on of the best movies of all time.
Watching Interstellar and The Martian back to back back then was stellar.
Just a fyi....this movie takes place in 2056. Its in my top 5 and the score is amazing!!! Shout out to Hans Zimmer
