I thought this at first too, but the real reason stated in the book explaining the science, is that being so close to the black hole the planet is tidally locked to it, but also being so close to the black hole its orbiting at a significant fraction of the speed of light, which causes it to wobble back and forth, creating those big waves you see as the planet wide ocean is jostled about with that extreme wobble

It's not that love is gravity or something like that, the theory is that It crosses dimensions like gravity does, including time. But because they don't have the connection/love towards murph, they can't communicate/make the right connection for her to recieve the data. So the beens knew that Murph needed his father and her room to recieve the quantum data (maybe hoping that there was an impactful moment that conected them there), so they send Copper because he'd know what conected them (the watch) and he'd know a way of comunication that murph also knows PS: If you look closely, Cooper started transmitting the quantum data to the watch the moment he leaves (after Murph picks up the watch that she had thrown away a moment before). So the clock was always showing the solution to the equation in Morse, ever since Murph was 10 years old... that's why Tars says "it's such complicated data for a child." Murph wasn't prepared then, neither when she was a teenager, nor when she was older because she was still angry with Cooper and didn't even want to go up to her room... there was even the possibility that she would never go back to grab the watch as Tars said. She had to go through Dr. Brand dying to finally have the idea of going to her room and she had to go through realizing that Cooper had not abandoned her to re-form that connection/love. Then the clock was still transmitting the data because gravity crosses dimensions including time (and space, that's why she could follow the Morse code even outside the room).

Hey Caleb and Gabriella, I'm so glad you guys picked up on the amazing style of Chris Nolan's writing. -------- The level of emotional intelligence he assumes the audience has. ------ We all know Copper loves his daughter. But Nolan's writing show how Copper takes specific actions to care for and protect Murph. ------ When he says, "The first thing you learn about being a parent, is making sure your child is safe and protected. That includes not telling a ten year old girl, that the world is coming to an end." --------- In this exchange of dialogue Nolan is showing how Cooper specifically loves and care for Murph in ways too deep to comprehend. -------- In ways so deep that he would travel the universe to save his daughter and the rest of humanity.
The only place I see Cooper does wrong in parenting is when he tell her that they may be the same age when he returns. I could have said the same to my son because I am trying to tell the truth as far as I know - but it is not the right way parent wise.

Wow, thank you so much! It means a lot to us to hear these words; it’s these comments that always keeps us going. We try to put a lot of ourselves into it and into really immersing ourselves in the experience, and sometimes we still feel we haven’t done the movies enough justice. We’re just happy to hear that you’re enjoying them, appreciate the support & much love always!🙏
I hadn't seen this movies when my friends and I watched it. They were excited to watch it again and see how I reacted to it, and it was so great. We watched until 1AM and stayed up until 4AM just talking about it and that made it even better. Great movie, amazing soundtrack, and made some good memories watching it Loved the reaction!
One thing I absolutely love about this movie, that I feel you’d enjoy based on your reaction style, is how the soundtrack came to be. Nolan went to Hans Zimmer and asked him that if he brought him one scene if he’d come up with something in one day. He didn’t say it was a space or epic tale, he gave Zimmer a short story of a father that has to leave his child to do something important, including the dialogue “I’ll come back” and “When?”. And Zimmer came back with the song that plays at the end of the movie, STAY, I believe is the track. Then hearing Zimmer talk about the soundtrack, he said on the use of the organ was an essence of humanity, because it’s an instrument you need air to play, that the music breathes.
We appreciate you Caleb and Gabriella, we may not know anything about your personal lives but we are all in this together. Everyone has their own path and pace, so the fact that you’re aware of the little steps you have to take, taking it at your own pace, is a great accomplishment. I’ve been going through waves of depression for years and i learned that once I have a routine, I have to stick to it and build upon it. Right now i’m slacking, but THATS OKAY. Never give up on yourselves or your passions and remember there is more kindness in this world than we can see.
Space ships/stations aren’t made from fragile material, the reason everything breaks so easily is the fact that nothing in space in stationary, everything is moving and if you think about it, our earth orbits the sun at roughly 67,000 mph, (107,000 kmh), which means our space station that moves with the earth is also traveling at the same speed, anything that is going that fast and has a collision is going to break/explode regardless of what material it’s made of. Space is crazy.
Beautiful intro, I love that you're opening up to yourself. I'm a man too and I cry myself sometimes. It's all about not giving a flying ef about what people think about it.
You should watch the behind the scenes for this movie if you want your frontal lobe to completely explode... the black hole rendition they did for the movie was based on Thorne's and Hawkins equations and it took ungodly amount of terabites to create - but it was actually a scientific breakthrough. the ring of light bending round the black hole was something that nobody expected but it completely matched up to the equations and is now considered and accepted as a scientific fact.. that's what happens when you get a nobel prize winning physicist to help with your movie... masterpiece
I've never sat down so full of interest listening to you guys speak after the movie ended. In fact I preferred that part of the video. I agree in many ways with your line of thought Caleb. I can write about it here and make a massive essay, but I think it's awesome to have that conversation, and that you guys don't cut it, but leave this whole conversation in. Been a pleasure watching it!
It’s crazy because I watched this movie when it came out going into my senior year of HS, and since then I’ve considered it my favorite movie and until this day it still hold true. From watching reaction channels reactions and especially toward this movie, they all mostly say this is there favorite movie or one of their top 3. And that’s after they’ve watched many movies to. I’m happy you guys reacted to this Goated movie, and I had a feeling you would love it.
I've fallen in love with your channel and they way you two watch/percieve movies. I'm here to stay. The first time I watched this movie, I was out of sorts for the rest of the day. I couldn't even talk to my Dad as we walked to our car because my head was just spinning from not only the immense sci-fi visualizations and imagry, but also the immense amount of emotion I was feeling. I'd never watched such an emotionally moving film in my life. Pair that with an immaculate story, score, and visuals...props to you two for being able to anylize after watching. I felt the deep breaths and pauses it took to be able to start speaking. Thank you for your amazing content.

Hey Caleb and Gabriella. I know family means the world to you. -------- "Interstellar" takes you on a journey so profound it makes you rethink the ties you have with your family. It makes you ponder to what lengths one would go to in fulfilling a promise to your loved one, especially a child. --------- I believe this is why the movie and its theme of parental love and sacrifice resonate with you so deeply. -------- Great, amazing, heartfelt reaction. You won me over with this one.
Love you reactions, guys. Always respectful towards the movie, immersed in it, not talking over dialogue (especially important one) and emotional moments (like some other channels do), very smart & observant - both of you. You definitely deserve more subs. Interstellar was great, I watched it in cinema - one of the best theatre experiences. Don't miss on Nolan's "Inception" - it's great too. Waiting for the (slightly overdue xD) LOTR: Return of the King reaction.
Guys. I really love your reactions, all emotions and honesty. This is one one my favorite movie and it is always emotional to me after dozen of times of rewatching it. Huge thakns for your videos!
You asked at the beginning of it was a documentary. Except for the old version of Murphy, all of the old people talking at the beginning are actually clips from the Ken Burns documentary on the great American Dust Bowl so they actually lived through what they are talking about.
You need to watch this more times. You catch new things every time. One of the best films ever made imo. The emotional core is outstanding. The score is simply out of this world. And Nolan "sort of" went to a black hole to film those scenes. The sfx needed to create the black hole required a whole new rendering technique to be created. It was based on actual theoretical physics. The resulting render yielded data which inspired at least two scientific papers on black holes if I remember right.
Btw this is probably my second favorite movie ever. It was my favorite until I saw Arrival. As a parent to young kids and someone whose career is in communication, I have a very personal connection to both movies; they're both about parenthood and communicating.
Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan are such masters at making the viewer feel the deepest most profound thoughts as we live and connect through the characters in this movie. -------- You were losing it way before the 23 year video log scene. ------- I said when Murphy shows up Gabriella and Caleb will be torn to shreds for sure. Great Reaction, I love you passion in this one for sure.
I saw this movie on Imax and when I went out of cinema I felt that I wasnt on Earth. Christopher Nolan shows us again that making a deep and wonderful movie can be possible.
One of the most unique reaction channels on RUclips. Even if I don't always agree with your interpretations, having an honest and thoughtful discussion about movies is refreshing. Can't wait for the Return of the King reaction!
The physicist Kip Thorne worked with the VFX team to produce the image of the black hole. He then went and wrote a paper based on what the team produced. When the Event Horizon Telescpe produced the first ever scientific image of a black hole, they looked exactly the same. Since then, it's been possible to tell when a science fiction movie or TV show was made, based on how they show black holes.
Well done guys! This is hands down my favorite film of all time. I don’t think any piece of media can make me feel like this again. So emotional, mysterious, an insane ride. Not many things make my brain work the way this did. Dare I say inspirational even though it is a science fiction movie
Thank you for the emotional response and the excellent interpretation and contextualization! You have really felt and understood the core, the message, the essence! Just the message of love!!! For all its scientific nature, the core of the film is LOVE! Love between father and daughter, father and son, between lovers, or even to humanity. Thank you & all the best from Germany!
The music in this film is absolutely INCREDIBLE! One of my most favorite soundtracks. I also loved the soundtrack and music for the Adam Sandler movie, Uncut Gems. Absolutely brilliant.
The movie is based on an original concept by producer Lynda Obst and theoretical physicist Kip Thorne and is set around 2067. In the event horizon/center of the black hole is a tesseract; a 3 dimensional representation of our future 5 dimensional understanding of time. If Cooper travels “up” or “down” in the tesseract he is able to view different moments in the past and touch the items in each time to communicate with Murphy. Tom, Cooper’s son, had a baby while Cooper was in space, but the baby (Jesse) died early on and was buried out behind the house and later so was Grandpa. Tom died 20 years or so before Cooper made it out of the tesseract and to Saturn. More of the scientific details are in Kip’s book, “The Science of Interstellar”.
I love the irony of Dr Mann explaining Plan A, only to go on to prove why Plan A was necessary. Despite his claims he was going to save humanity "for you, Cooper," he deserted Cooper, Dr Brand and Dr Rommely (and awesome job drawing how he configured Kitt to blow up if someone checked the logs!!). Self-preservation is a human condition.
Thank you for the heartfelt and wonderful reaction. I’d like to suggest you watch Contact. It’s similar in a lot of way: a high concept science fiction movie, strong intelligent lead female character (played by Jodie Foster), Matthew McConaughey co-starring, made with a lot of real science accuracy (this is from the late great Carl Sagan), decent special effect (at least for 1997), spiritual exploration/discussion, and other similarities.
Keep up the good work guys really enjoyed your analysis and the way you break things down and how you can relate to your childhood. Nolan is my favourite director and his other masterpiece is inception i believe you’ll love the concepts of the movie
Christopher Nolan just knows how to make movies that teach us about our flaws as human beings and how even with our flaws we can manifest miracles. This movie was a masterpiece and the lessons it teaches us cross beyond just a movie to make money. It touched us to our souls and hearts. He also wrote and was executive producer for the Superman movie Man of Steel in which he shows us how someone different and not of this world would be treated by mankind. Much like this movie that movie also reaches us emotionally and also shows our flaws as humans. Christopher Nolan is our eras Steven Spielberg.
1:06:52 When he said this was the greatest movie he has ever seen....and then paused....it shook me. I believe him, because I've felt this way about this film for a long, long time. Maybe not the greatest, because I have so much love and respect for Schindler's List; but certainly in my Top Five. Maybe even in my Top Three. This movie is extraordinary on so many levels. When I saw they were doing a reaction, I hit LIKE and then began to watch, because I knew it was going to be good. Their insight, their wonderment, their appreciation for movies...I'm here for all of it. An absolutely fantastic reaction and review. I want to quickly add that many, many, MANY people have had a hard time understanding this film, as far as following all the scientific parts of it. This movie has been debated and studied by scientists because of it's theories. I think not knowing HOW any of it works is part of what makes it great, because as these two reactors pointed out, it all comes down to LOVE.
The idea of gravity travelling across time and dimensions is from the modern theory of superstring or string theory also known as m theory which is a contending theory of everything as a solution for quantum gravity
The ‘rewatchability’ that this movie has is insane. Every time I watch it, I pick up something new and love it even more. Just brilliant.
I can't rewatch movies because once I know how the plot goes ends, I lose interest. This movie is really long yet I've watched it multiple times and each time I'm still in awe.

I love how on Miller's planet there are giant tidal waves like that, showing the extreme gravitational pull of the black hole on the planet.

Great reaction.
Glad you picked up on the clock ticking on the 'water planet', amazing sound design, every tick represents 1 day on earth.
It’s ok to cry during that scene. Everyone does 😢❤
I hadn't seen this movies when my friends and I watched it. They were excited to watch it again and see how I reacted to it, and it was so great. We watched until 1AM and stayed up until 4AM just talking about it and that made it even better. Great movie, amazing soundtrack, and made some good memories watching it
Loved the reaction!
Hans Zimmer's score for this is PHENOMENAL.
I just realized when Murph said "I thought you're the ghost" was actually foreshadowing.
Nolan literally drops the twist into the first conversation in the first scene, genius
I'm a guy and Im sobbing my eyes out every damn time. this movie breaks me again and again and again.
Interstellar ❤ Nolan's greatest work for humanity ❤️
You guys deserve WAY more subs for the type of reaction is done! Very well done!
one of the greatest movies ever for sure, love your genuine reactions ❤
You guys are so sweet! I cried along with you
Space ships/stations aren’t made from fragile material, the reason everything breaks so easily is the fact that nothing in space in stationary, everything is moving and if you think about it, our earth orbits the sun at roughly 67,000 mph, (107,000 kmh), which means our space station that moves with the earth is also traveling at the same speed, anything that is going that fast and has a collision is going to break/explode regardless of what material it’s made of. Space is crazy.
I"ve never felt this way watching a movie or tv show. Pure perfection
I can’t wait to hear the discussion after the reaction. I know you’re going to have a lot to say!
Movies like this really show who has a big heart who ever watches it. And many other movies just as good.
Beautiful intro, I love that you're opening up to yourself. I'm a man too and I cry myself sometimes. It's all about not giving a flying ef about what people think about it.
This is my #1 favorite movie of all time with my #1 favorite soundtrack ever.
Nolan is the best filmmaker of this generation. You have to watch INCEPTION
Thank you so much for reacting to it guys, fantastic job 🙌🏼🙏🏼👍🏼
Yall two are the best reactors on RUclips and it doesn’t even come close. Why? Because you two truly feel authentic and you take notes you actually care. Other RUclipsrs over react and exaggerate because they know they are recording for views. Thank for being awesome.
That was very honest. Respect.
Watched this in an IMAX when it released. Unforgettable.
Did not know this! 😃
Btw this is probably my second favorite movie ever. It was my favorite until I saw Arrival. As a parent to young kids and someone whose career is in communication, I have a very personal connection to both movies; they're both about parenthood and communicating.
I always tell people this is the best movie of all time! When you watch it again you will pick up on even more clues on what's going on...
You guys are so sweet, I really love your reactions! Take care
Yes!! Can’t wait to watch this when I get home! Love the channel!! ❤️❤️❤️
Gabby with the best gasp on youtube. Hands down
I saw this movie on Imax and when I went out of cinema I felt that I wasnt on Earth.
Thank you for your transparency… appreciate your honesty and glad to watch as you can deliver…no pressure.
I highly recommend Arrival with Amy Adam's. Another top 5 movie like Interstellar.
Yes! They would love Arrival!
I second that.
@@ClausAgerskov I third it! Another absolutely incredible movie from a genius of a director.
Well done guys! This is hands down my favorite film of all time. I don’t think any piece of media can make me feel like this again. So emotional, mysterious, an insane ride. Not many things make my brain work the way this did. Dare I say inspirational even though it is a science fiction movie
Y’all almost got them tear’s out of me 😢😢😢
Thank you for the emotional response and the excellent interpretation and contextualization! You have really felt and understood the core, the message, the essence!
Just the message of love!!! For all its scientific nature, the core of the film is LOVE!
Love between father and daughter, father and son, between lovers, or even to humanity.
Thank you & all the best from Germany!
You have to watch "The Prestige" by Nolan, you will have a new contender for the greatest movie ever.
One of the best film ever made. A true masterpiece!
This movie is like an updated version of Contact. It has many of the same themes, but the main one is science + faith.
Contact still holds a place as my #1 movie of all time, but Interstellar is definitely an extremely close second.
Absolutely love this reaction.
It is, in my opinion, one of the best movies ever made. It's my #1 all time favorite.
He really nailed the pilot voice at 55:38, almost too well lol
Appreciate your openness at the start guys, as soon as you said it I was like ‘and you’re watching interstellar now’ 😵😂
Best movie ever made imo, takes 3 times to appreciate
I love the irony of Dr Mann explaining Plan A, only to go on to prove why Plan A was necessary. Despite his claims he was going to save humanity "for you, Cooper," he deserted Cooper, Dr Brand and Dr Rommely (and awesome job drawing how he configured Kitt to blow up if someone checked the logs!!). Self-preservation is a human condition.
17:51 Of course, we did. There is spacecraft, videos, and pictures, and even audio that has proved it. It's not faked.
Bruhh..... This movie is a historical masterfukin peice ...... Which would go down as one of the best movies ever made in humanity ❤❤
Glad you guys noticed the tics on millers planet. Each tic was a day passing on earth
Remember watching this in imax. I couldn’t speak when I got out. Just an incredible movie that had everything. Nothing will beat it.
The idea of gravity travelling across time and dimensions is from the modern theory of superstring or string theory also known as m theory which is a contending theory of everything as a solution for quantum gravity
