I find the sizing of down jackets really frustrating. I am quite broad from going to the gym. In most instances, the leading brands in size L are too small around the shoulders which causes the back of the jacket to tighten whenever I want to reach my hands out in front of me or reach up and then XL is too big and I find the back of the jacket is too loose and it looks silly BUT then I can layer underneath if required.
Totally with you there. I’m obviously a similar shape to you but smaller and went for a large. Nice space around my shoulders but tent like below and it feels my pockets are down my thighs. Medium really comfortable but only with a T-shirt or base layer. Sods law really but we’re all different shapes and sizes. I opted for the M as it’s mainly for walking not climbing in my case so I won’t be reaching above.
Just go for the size that fits u it was XL for me and 2XL was too huge but had I chosen 2XL it would had been a way bigger size for me and it wouldn’t look good
Same here... just got it last week, I've a big chest and shoulders so large was too tight, xl fits great up top but like a tent down below but it's a great warm jacket.
Keep the great videos coming :-) Just a quick question. If u had to choose between 225 g of 90/10 duck down with 750 cuin fill power or 115 g 90/10 goose down with 800 cuin fill power from the same brand. which one would u go for to keep u warm leaving everything else aside. Just warmth? What temp do u think the later could withstand? Appreciate a reply mate. Many thanks in advance.
I'm not sure sorry. Been looking through past reviews and no one mentions it unfortunately. I think the last one was Pertex Quantum as well though. Will
Hi Alison. As is the norm for lightweight down jackets, the zip pull is quite small. I think maybe the Fjallraven Expedition Pack Down Hoodie might be a little easier to zip up than this. Hopefully some other viewers of this video might be able to recommend some other options. Will
So if I have an older version of these jacket. Which product do I need to wash my jacket with just the down wash direct or should I also use tx. direct?
@@ukassh23 I reckon it's based on the same model as the last design. I'd say the medium was perfect for my fairly slim and 5'10 built. So maybe a Large would fit you, but depends on your build. Will
@@OutdoorsMagicTV thx for replay. I checked specifications of both them and I think only difference between model 2019 and 2020 is insulation. In 2019 model is 750FP where in 2020 model is 700FP. Correct me if I am wrong.
I d like to buy fjallraven down jacket but i am not sure that the water ressistant is enough, so maybe Rab microlight could be better choice? I have not found any information about DWR or pertex in fjallraven products. What jacket you recommend? And thanks for great reviews!
Out of the Fjallraven Expedition Pack Down Hoodie and this, I'd say I found this to be more water resistant. I was actually really impressed by that aspect of it. I'd say the Fjallraven one was more durable though. I'm not sure what the hydrophobic wash or DWR is in the Fjallraven jacket sorry! Will
For low level, casual use, yes - except on the really cold days. For proper windy and freezing hill days you'll want to layer over and under I'd say. Will
I brought the dark blue one today from blacks store in Tamworth...cost £200 bit I now no o could of got it on internet for £120....bit trust me it's a beautiful coat....I walked a mile in it and was properly sweating....mine has a lime inside lining and I've already had three random people saw wow nice jacket... Great tailoring ...Rab is good shit...
This is filled with down and the Cirrus is filled with plastic microfibres. The Microlight Alpine will be warmer and lighter, but not so good in wet conditions. Here's a useful guide we put together on the down v synthetic debate: outdoorsmagic.com/article/synthetic-insulated-jackets-buyers-guide/
Don’t buy Rab products. I purchased an Axion Pro jacket, but it has been leaking since the beginning. They claim that down jackets will leak, but Rab’s leakage is excessive; every day I need to use a lint roller. Finally, I stopped using it and sent it for warranty, but they are suggesting that to resolve the issue, it needs to be washed several times, with each washing costing £25 plus courier charges. I would have to spend more money to fix the leaking. I recommend going for Columbia or North Face instead
I personally don't care whether it is recycled or not! I care that it works (after all when it comes to keeping warm in surprize harsh conditions, my life is more important than recycle green products) and the price has not been elevated due to all these recycle procedures! Woke should keep out of activities where life is threatened from harsh conditions!
Just brought this jacket today ..beautiful..

Actually...you made me think more about it! Good point...you can always layer underneath and it does have draw chords. Large it is. Thanks!

I have this same problem. I need Large and a bit, Patagonia's cut seems to fit me well though.

nice jacket fore hike.
now i wonder if you have to make a choice between north face softshell fure isolation and this jacket what would it be ??

Would you recommend this or the Rab Axion jacket?
If you had to choose between this jacket and the Fjalraven Expedition Pack Down Hoodie, which would win, in your eyes?
It's a hard one to call, but I think the Expedition Pack Down feels slightly more durable. Will
Thanks for the great review. Can I ask, do the pockets and chin guard have a fleece lining?
Thanks! The pockets don't but the chin guard does. Will
Thanks a lot for the update , the new one has 30D ripstop recycled nylon DWR finish, [lining] 20D, do you know what was it for the older version

Thank you. You mentioned you are wearing medium. How tall are you?
No worries. 5 foot 10. There's a bit about the fit in my written review. Links in the description. Will
What size would you recommend for someone who is 6 foot 1? And is it big different between model 2019 and 2020?
