i’ve always felt it was his ability to not only write believable characters but also ones that we resonate with on such an immense personal level, i think it has to come from breaking pieces off of yourself and putting them into your characters, what stood out mainly is that he put them into ordinary situations, but gave them extraordinary meaning and they always grew as a person, growth is something necessary in his films.
