Finally! I've searched and searched and watched videos for the perfect no holes squares. Some go so fast I can't keep up; others the video quality is poor; others don't join the square to look clean, others are not in English. My perseverance paid off when I came across this one. Very nicely done.
Having watched other videos on making solid granny squares and getting very confused I am now so pleased to have found Ophelia ‘s easy to follow instructions . Thank you Ophelia 🥰
Thank you for your tutorial. i´m a beginner in chrocheting but your simple and clear explanation maked it easy for me. i wanted to make a blanket for my nephew and i didn´t know how to do a perfect square so i started my first one following your tutorial and i already made 10 perfect squares!! 😉😙 Thank you! Peace and love! Hugs from Azores.
I watched a few videos on how to make the solid granny squares and yours was by far the easiest to follow and my granny squares turned out perfect. Thank you so much ❤
I adore this video!! I always disliked the large spaces in the corners and now you have taken care of that for me!!! So happy I found your channel!!!! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and gift of crocheting with us!!! I am looking forward to more of your amazing videos!!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to explain the details very clear. Your video make it very easy for me to make a solid square. I am going to take this and make a big blanket. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
Hi, Anja. How do you do? My name is Gary from NYC. I am a new crocheter and had just recently learned doing it about a week ago after finishing all the plumbing and carpentry works here at home since the lockdown. I am also your new subscriber. You see, Anja, I have been wanting to do granny squares that do not have any holes at all in the hopes of doing an afghan for my wife and children but so far, the granny squares (traditional and solid) I watched on RUclips from other mentors were a bit old-fashioned and tacky for my liking. However, this tutorial of yours is what I really envisioned for my family's afghan. Thank you very much for this tutorial. Indeed, less is more. More power to you, Anja. Stay cool and keep safe. ;-)
Ophelia, you are a gem, fantastic idea using stitch markers, so clear and easy to follow, for once no ripping back! My Shetland Grandmother was called Ophelia~ ღ
i found this turtoral really easy. i feel like this video was easier to understand than another video that i saw. tysm I'm making a baby toy for my cousin!
I have been using this pattern to bust through my stash of Scheepjes Chunky Monkey for #crocheteverydayNovember . What a snuggler this will be! Thanks, Anja!
Thank you so much for the clear instructions of this solid square. I am making a stuffed dog for my Great Grandson and my Great Great Nephew. I didnt want the stuffing to fall out and it wont now because of the solid square
I love the solid granny square. Thank you for sharing. I'm looking for a good easy pattern to make for my great grandbaby. This will be wonderful with different pastel colors. Looking foward to seeing your cushion. From Alabama.
newbie here and desperately wanting to make solid granny squares!!!! you are very helpful while learning to do this. i just wish you have a video somewhere to teach us the new stitches (double, slip...). already subscribed and will watch you again:)
Thank you for watching franceska counts ! Anja xxx 💕🌈 Have a look in the playlist section on my channel. I have created a stitch library in uk and us terminology for right handed as well as left handed. This is not complete so there will be more stitches on soon.
This tutorial was more than useful, it was what I was looking for it's perfect! I'm a beginner, so clear instructions are my best friend at the moment and visuals as well. You not only take your time explaining us but you also show how is suppose to look on each step. You definitely have a new subscriber. Thank you so much!!
Tnq for your simple and clear explanation.... Going to try this one😊.... already tried ur perfect circle crochet... Came out really well.👍 Ur techniques are really awesome and simple to do... Keep going my friend 😊😊😊
I like the way you explain each pattern. You make it seem so easy. Thanks. How do I close the center of the square if I don't want any holes in the center?
You’re welcome 😊. If you crochet over your starting tail, or make a Magic Circle, you can pull the thread tighter at the end and finish it off as normal, this will pull the middle in tight, Anja x
Can anybody please, please help me? I am doing this exactly as directed and the edge with the join always winds up with a flare. The dbl cr count is correct! What am I doing!? I am beside myself. I have made 5 - 2' x2' squares and the larger they get the less flat they become. Every side of my squares increases by 4 dc, every corner is 2dc, 1tr, 2dc. Is there a trick with this pattern that the larger the square gets the less flat it lays? I simply cannot figure this out and any help would be so greatly appreciated. I am no novice crocheter, but I must be blind to something with this pattern. 🥺
This is gorgeous and so simple to follow! Do you have a video explaining how to join these solid squares? If not, could anyone point me in the direction of one that works with this square? Thanks! ❤️
Solid square “in the round” is what I was searching for. I understand the instructions the only problem I have, I’m low vision & have to count stitches on each side so I don’t have to frog all of the time. The 1st round 16 st. Is the 2nd round 32? Does each side increase by 4? So 3rd round 48? Increasing by 16 each round? Thank you for your videos 🧶💚
I have a question regarding puckering. I notice the larger the square the more puckering becomes an issue. Is this pattern best used for smaller squares or is there something I can do to stop/limit this from happening?
Lesley, almost all puckering issues are down to tension, try making a swatch using the same yarn and different hooks to see which ;material' you like the feel of. Thank you for watching, Anja x
You can pause whenever you need to and it is best to crochet along and learn it right away …. This is not the traditional granny! I have another video for that one! Good luck!
It is possible to slow the video down if you click the cog in the right bottom corner, this might help with your confusion, and l expect the wonky bit is your tension, keep practicing Melody, Anja x

Hi Anja. Fabulous tutorial. I hope you're having a great week.
How do you sew the squares together since there are 5 stitches in the corner?
This is gorgeous and so simple to follow!
Do you have a video explaining how to join these solid squares? If not, could anyone point me in the direction of one that works with this square? Thanks! ❤️
I saw a tutorial you linked to another comment joining granny squares, but I’m having a hard time applying that technique to this type of stitch 😬 😥
yes, check out the playlists on the channel. Thank you for watching Catie R ! Anja xxx 💕🌈
Here little beginner me thought I was ready for this 😂
Still definitely enjoyed the whole video though!
Brilliant instructions thank you!!
Can you make a video on how to do a solid (no holes ) half square triangle crochet ?
Would love ,if you show me how to join these squares. Have already made these beautiful squares.
Thank you for watching Geeta Walia ! Anja xxx 💕🌈 Check out this video: ruclips.net/video/pEbXW3HdLlw/видео.html
I would like to know if you can make the square into afghan size? Love the pattern!
Yes Wanda, you just keep going round and round using the same corner system, Anja x
Awesome. I like that better
Glad you like it Anja x
Very helpful, thanks! I have to know where you got those stitch markers from!
I ordered some from Amazon: smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BJVYF00/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

L O V E!! Any tips on joining as you go for this square?
Thank you for this, your methods and explanations are so easy, I cannot wait to start this one 💕
Very nice :)
Thanks for the visit😊
can this method be adapted to any pattern that calls for squares?
Where is the slip st made? In turn where you did green st markers
Any way to get this in a written form
I have a question regarding puckering. I notice the larger the square the more puckering becomes an issue. Is this pattern best used for smaller squares or is there something I can do to stop/limit this from happening?
Lesley, almost all puckering issues are down to tension, try making a swatch using the same yarn and different hooks to see which ;material' you like the feel of. Thank you for watching, Anja x
Can this be made to use as a cushion cover that measures 23.5 by 24 and is 4 inches wide
Yes Melody, I don't see why not, just make the squares, then add a 4 inch panel/gusset after!! Good luck, Anja x
Just trying my best to do the " Granny Square " n struggling to write down the instructions as you go along.
You can pause whenever you need to and it is best to crochet along and learn it right away …. This is not the traditional granny! I have another video for that one! Good luck!
can I make this big?
Cant really see the white yarn
The sun always shines in my filming studio!! I have very bright lights to make sure that you can see it all clearly!! Thanks for watching! xxx
at the end of the 1st square i only have 15 stitches
The start is confusing
Mine looks all wonky
It is possible to slow the video down if you click the cog in the right bottom corner, this might help with your confusion, and l expect the wonky bit is your tension, keep practicing Melody, Anja x
Video needs to be closer to see
thanks for the tip. Thank you for watching Adia Ward ! Anja xxx 💕🌈
So this is supposed to show us how to do a solid square but she’s too fast and doesn’t tell us where to put the DC’s. I had to find another tutorial.
Thanks for watching my video Denise R and keep crocheting. Anja xxx💕🌈💕
I don't own stich markers 🥲 buuuut it was easy without it too
A hair pin, paper clip, safety pin, or even a piece of yarn, all will work just as well, Anja x
@@OpheliaTalks I just count the stiches 😅
